Ymir is such a fascinating character. He provides amazing information about the setting, with just enough hints of his own biases showing on a few matters. Ymir has a number of uncanny and unnerving lines too, from the mention of a "little boy" in the foreboding Manus Metyr to the hope that the Tarnished joins the stars -- potentially a veiled threat in light of the jellyfish sisters. Ymir's focus on Yuri in particular leaves the most unsaid, but holds weighty implications. Personally, I think that Ymir had a human son named Yuri who had health issues from birth and died, and Ymir blamed his wife for it. This could be something of a parallel to Rennala and her "sweetings", or the event was harsh on Rennala as a family member too. Whether Ymir's trauma naturally makes him think he can revive his son as a Fingercreeper or if his cosmic discoveries caused a new trauma that mixed with the first is unknown. Whatever the case, it does help Ymir be a sympathetic yet threatening figure. Ymir also rescued Jolan and Anna from apparent slavery, whether from the Nox (hence Jolan's focus on the night and the siblings' armor having a similar vibe as the Black Knife Assassins' gear) or the hornsent. However, based on Anna being drugged with a Starlight Shards potion and hidden in the most remote part of Rabbath's Rise, Ymir might be horrifically oppressive in his own right, going so far as to erase Anna's free will. Jolan never implies that Anna might have been out of line by any standard, so Ymir seems especially disdainful and paranoid about any independent thoughts and signs of autonomy whatsoever. With how emotionally vulnerable and wounded Jolan appears to be, the siblings are likely akin to children, and have been essentially adopted by Ymir. Despite his lamentations about unfit mothers, Ymir's own traumas and faults have made him into a horrendous parent. Thanks for another audio upload, Stratek! I've appreciated these uploads ever since Elden Ring's release.

Ymir has the same voice actor as the guy on Hitman 2's Miami level who you get the flamingo disguise from
