Well, weapon types are just a way to classify movesets really. Apart from ashes of war, there's no influence of the type per say. Actually, iy means we're gonna have around 30 weapons with totally new animations and that's even more insane! I just wish they add a way to buy +10 somber smithing stone, chosing is too hard...

I'm hoping there's some more interesting Shield options with the seeming addition of the Dueling Shield, assuming it isn't just a Twinblade. I don't really get why many compare it to a twinblade. Because it has a spike on each side? But Twinblades have slashing attacks whereas based on what we've seen in the trailer and how (I think) actual dueling shields were used the moveset will be more focused around stabbing. So it's more of a spear-shield ig.

It is speculated by others that there will be a new progression system similar to how Sekiro does, where all enemies in the dlc will have a new strong resistance to the player's attacks. Only by killing certain enemies or bosses does the resistance go down little by little. This gives the feeling of getting stronger while not needing to actually level up your character.

I hope the martial art type stuff get different styles, like tiger, mantis and dragon. Maybe kicks are r2 and punches are r1, comboes with that would be great. Maybe even things like enhanced jumping and or other movement techniques would be great. I also hope they can give staffs and catlyesst more ashes of war. Ashes of war could be casting terra magica or other staple spells. The idea of a duel wielding with staves ash of war sounds interesting, but may be over powered. God imagine dual wielding gavel of hima, stars of ruin though would be disgusting and uncontionable. There is currently only one ash of war for staffs so I'm hopping for more tactical approaches to spell casting.

Give us great flails, trick daggers like what ds3 had in the dlc and trick weapons in general. The dlc weapons in ds3 were pretty unique. The spear, dagger and straight sword. Plus the katana but that was more normal of a weapon besides its flashy special attacks. Excited to see what the larger katanas are. The duel curved swords looked really good, throwing dagger and martial arts stuff. That plus that shield twinblade thing that’s already 4 classes but we will have other weapons within those classes as well. Whips could use a lot of love too.

Interesting, I was thinking miquellas' dream would be of the past. It seems Miyazaki has hinted that Marikas past is not too far off the circumstance of the shattering. Perhaps Miquella is not after a "better," cycle, or order; but a sort of a detachment from those that impose cycles upon themselves and others. Such as his creation of the needle... A suture to aid healing, enable it. The threads lie in shadows.

The "twinblade shield" in the trailer is called a pavise. A spiked pavise in particular. They were often set up on the ground for crossbowmen to hide behind, and a spiked pavise like the one we saw in the trailer could be used as a pretty effective weapon on its own. Maybe the skill for it will allow you to stick it into the ground, giving you a more effective blocking ability than anything else, at the cost of mobility.

That's not what it is. This is a dueling shield that can be seen in several fighting manuals of the medieval period. It's strictly used within the context of judiciary duels (so both opponents are armed with the dueling shields), and it has nothing to do with the pavises used by crossbowmen.

Its pretty clearly a dueling shield, theres already an actual pavice shield (flat bottom, giant center divot so it stands on its own) that heals you in the game, the one in the trailer has a flat face and two massive spikes on top and bottom

AS far as the map goes, I'd like to assume that it takes place in the clouded region centered between all the Divine Towers. Since the DLC is a land that's shrouded. If it's bigger than Limgrave it's hard to imagine it, but we know underground areas like Nokron, Nokstella, the Grand Cloister, and Mohgwyn's Palace are toggled on the map and maybe it would be for the DLC area too.

In my mind the additional damage stat in the dlc is meant to account for extremely high level players. This means that even if you go in with a level 200 account, if you don’t push the additional scaling in the dlc, you won’t feel overleveled.

I would say we had great axes, gears hammers, and colossal weapons all in ds3. They were just two types of colossal weapons. They basically took a lot of the slowest and clunkiest parts of the two classes out, completely reworking how they feel to play, and stuck them into a "new" class they called colossal weapons, hence why the class is so insanely diverse. Different damage types with different poise damage and all that. (Plus over half of them have unique heavy attacks, and the only standard heavy attacks are used on the default weapon in the class and some of the unique sombers)

7:00 with how its compared to Sekiro, I see it as giving players a certain damage bracket when entering the DLC, where you can't go too low or too high. That way people who just beat Mohg would be on even field with players at RL200, and you can collect items that let you raise that bracket, so even people at super high levels can get the feeling of leveling up and getting stronger. You could also opt out and keep yourself purposely weaker for a greater challenge. I have absolutely no basis for any of this, but it feels like it'd be a good solution.

Dueling shield there is actually one in game currently. In Selia magic town. The Nuxtella bosses. There is a Monk. The monk form two shields with spikes wich it blocks with and attacks.

I think they are going to release more sleep weapons, you should probably get some practice using some sort of sleep weapon now. Saint Trina's Torch, perhaps?

7:14 about the mention of "offensive power", it has definitely been done before in sekiro like Miyazaki said. and it makes me wonder whether it'll work exactly the same way as the Demon Bell where you can essentially toggle the difficulty via an altar of some kind. also... I just realized Miyazaki's name also starts with an M. Miyazaki is written by GRRM confirmed

Chase what level will you be going into the dlc?

Im thinking i will start at 125 and level up the stat that i find the most useful for the stuff that i find in the dlc. with a level cap of 138-150 so that i can consistently invade people going into the dlc. After my first run through ill ask around and see what level everyone ended up at and decide pvp builds from there!
