In the #eldenring DLC, #shadowoftheerdtree , it is quite possible to deal large damage against bosses. This video shows ONE EXAMPLE of how DLC weapons and ashes of war, when combined with proper talismans and scadutree upgrades, are more than adequate to dispatch these bosses. If you are struggling with the bosses, try experimenting with the range of tools at your disposal!

You can jump all of her thrusts and the horizontal magic waves. Unironically might be the most mechanically marvelous boss they have ever made.

Definitely see how Rellana could make maintaining stamina so difficult

I am very stubborn in the way I like to play these games and always like to try and beat some boss at a relatively low level. I did it with Margit the first time playing and now I think did Rellana with one Scadutree upgrade and 2-handing a Lordsworn Cold Straight Sword +24. It did take me ages but I liked the fight. I was thinking about exploring for more Scadutree pieces, but as soon as I got to phase 2 and she pulled out the Pontiff swords I knew I had to get my hands on that weapon ASAP haha. Also a classic FromSoft boss experience for me in the sense that I die enough times to get good at phase 1, but at some point just basically luck and tank the phase 2 without learning it properly haha. I have no clue how to dodge the 5 hit magic attack she usually starts phase 2 with. I dodged it all only once by accident, tried jumping and strafing and dodging but the 4th hit especially seemed to always catch me. For me the strategy that worked the best was just running away and doing jump attacks (and spamming Phalanx Ash of War). Most of her combos have a surprisingly long punish window but you need to learn the animation for which attack is the true last one in the combo.

For that opening phase 2 attack, I found the way to consistently do it was to be as far back as possible and then dodge. The first ones you dodge quickly, but you put a delay for one of the horizontal attacks (can't remember which, but there are only 2 so it's easy with trial and error). Of course, this is assuming you're light rolling, but yeah, the key is being far back from her and using a delayed dodge toward the end.

This is an older post but you can literally just sprint to the side the first two will miss jump the third, the fourth will try to track you by going up and miss because you're landing from jumping the third then the last one is super delayed and you can just reaction roll it. This is SUPER fun to pull off but... Alternatively, this attack has no hitbox at all of you're close to her so you can just stand in front of her fur the entire thing and it's a massive punish window.

Absolute madness. The last boss on DLC reminds me of my days with Namless King but 10x times worse. I was stuck on him for days. But once I figured him out I can do him easily once I get used to the rhythym.

Beaten her on three characters. One thing I learned is that you can usually stagger, rippste into the phase change. This means shes has to get up, then enchant her swords, giving you a big damage window. My first playthrough was as a str build (lionclaw/gs) so often times I'd focus on getting my bursts of damage by opening these stagger windows. You can get a scarlet aonia off (or other massive spell) while having plenty of time to recover (I was running dryleaf + poison flower blooms twice and my whole goal that fight was to cast scarlet aeonia without taking damage...for style?). I like these bosses because for each of them I formed a strategy.

Finally done with the DLC and it seemed I will definitely be taking a break. I know a no hit run is coming soon but I can't. It was a total shitshow both in terms of actual fight and lore.

Would you say Elden Sulyvahn is just as good as Pontiff Sulyvahn?

I'm not really sure yet. I was doing her damage-free, and she was an absolute nightmare in that context. I haven't fought her yet just to beat her on a regular playthrough, so I will withhold judgment until I do that.

For me the only thing keeping her from s tier is that her glintblade phalanx sometimes stuns you in the stupidest times like her triple slam, leading to insta deaths with no opportunities for evasion.
@jermergerg
@jermergerg Ай бұрын
@@EXQUIS1T3 Yeah, this is often a problem they have with bosses that use projectiles like that. They seem to be purely random, and when they coincide with other attacks, they can be genuinely unfair. A few times, I experienced her casting the phalanx half a second before she did the magic sword. There was literally no way to time an evasion to avoid both attacks, so it was instant death. Seems to me they could program these bosses not to do that.

@@jermergerg I think this is problem because of the lingering magic attacks. I don't think I've faced this specific problem in any other souls game. Even in duo bosses like lorian/lothric, demon princes or even bosses like living failures and shadows of yharnam, I've never seen both a melee and ranged attack launched at the same time, meaning you can effectively dodge only one if you're lucky or worse, get hit by both.
@jermergerg
@jermergerg Ай бұрын
@@EXQUIS1T3 Yeah you're totally right! I should have been more precise in my wording--it's lingering projectiles, not projectiles in general, that can cause this issue. Lothric's projectiles do linger a bit, but it does seem like something about Lorian's teleportation pattern prevents you from ever being genuinely locked into taking damage from them.
