I love that Graham stayed and watched for a bit. I like how into this game everyone is. Thanks for the video!

Both the series and I think this episode, don't think we've had an 8 hour play it forward?

Waited until I'd had the chance to play most of Elden Ring myself before watching this, real excited to see it though. If Adam likes the weapon art on the Uchigatana he's going to love Moonveil. :P

Just watching the beginning to see if it's going to be a good game to play for me. Looks like they took the time to explain at least enough to make you interested in whatever the Elden Ring is, but not why you should be going after it. I don't want to watch too much more in case it is good, though. I might pick it up some day and try it, but Bloodborne really turned me away from this developer because of the complete lack of information given to make a player care. Basic questions I'd like answered: Where are we? Is this Earth? Some other universe? Why does it look like death? What is a "tarnished"? Are we like a zombie or something since we were brought back from death? What does the Elden Ring do? Is it an actual powerful artifact, or a made up one that humans decided had power, like a king's crown? And I don't want these answers, this lore, in a wiki or buried in the menu system. I want the game to tell me itself. Bloodborne was explained to me as "Oh, you have to complete the game multiple times and get the true ending to understand anything, or just read the wiki." Nope, not worth my time.

If you want a story that is told linearly to you without digging into the objects you pick up and inferring stuff then FromSoft is just not a game maker for you. That's just not how they tell stories.
@StapleCactus2 жыл бұрын
@@godofthunder4242 I read the descriptions of items I collect, but inferring things means you could be wrong. I hate being wrong, so I try to avoid that. It makes me feel like an idiot. It's like reading a poem in class and the teacher goes "What do you think the author meant?" After you give your interpretation, she says "Wrong! He meant the disillusionment of man's folly!" or something really out of left field.
@keylometers63422 жыл бұрын
@@StapleCactus it sounds like you had a bad English teacher then, the thing about poems and vague stories like the ones from soft likes to tell there is no "correct awnser" and that's okay
@StapleCactus2 жыл бұрын
@@keylometers6342 My favorite one was the "I walk through the valley of the shadow of death" poem and the teacher said I was wrong when I interpreted it as "he was walking... in a valley... of death. You know, dead bodies on the ground?." I take writing literally and she didn't like that. I told her if the author wanted me to think a certain way, he should have written it to not be vague. And there should definitely be a correct answer. If I have to figure out the ending is either "You were consumed with madness" or "You became a benevolent ruler", I'm going to go with the second option. When people then tell me I didn't "understand" the ending, I'm going to feel like an idiot. It's why I avoid "word of god" interviews, because I'm not about to let the creator tell me how the story should have gone if he didn't take the time to make the story clear in his work in the first place. You don't get to tell people how to interpret your work after publishing it. It's a dick move to make some of your audience feel dumb. But anyway, thank you for explaining From Software's stance on storytelling. It's a shame I'll never play these games everyone seems to enjoy.
@nox98562 жыл бұрын
You could try another souls-like game, From Soft has spawned an entire industry for these types of games, perhaps another souls like might spark your interest? Another Souls-like that comes to mind is Nioh. I don't know much about it, but perhaps you might find the story telling more to your liking? Edit: grammar
