I think the weapon in the first invasion, wielded by the host, is the Rosus Axe? It's pretty bad overall, but it ALSO lets you use Rosus' Summons, which is like, a slightly better version of Tibia's summons... which... uh... I ran out of things to say about it. Purple torch or whatever.

Hmm, it can perform in PvE pretty well! Especially compared to it's spell counterpart, it can actually crank out some pretty nuts numbers in PvE. The only problem is, it's tracking is pretty dreadful, like "Miss a completely idle enemy" levels of bad at times. Poise damage on it is pretty good, too, if I remember? I hope it gets some touchups, I love axes and always want them to get a little more in FromSoft games...

For your Information: The Tearscarabs function in the same way the crystal lizards did. If they escape from you, you can just save and quit, then reload the game and they are back at theire spot without the need to travel there again.

So, about the weapon two-handing thing that keeps happening to you - the engine FromSoft uses for these games is a little weird in that it can't buffer combined inputs. So any time an action requires two simultaneous inputs, they both have to happen during actionable frames. If you hold the action button and press an attack button to two-hand your weapon and release the buttons during the recovery frames of your previous attack, the game will buffer the attack button input, but not the action button input. This is why you so often attack when you're trying to two-hand your weapon. To avoid this, you'll need to train yourself not to let go of the action button until you see your character switch their grip.

So I tried something similar (with a less optimized path, since i'm 100% completing with dialogue etc) and encountered my first duo that I won against with Zweihander, Claymore and a Greatsword. However, I couldn't manage to kill them because they decided to enter the green portal (I spawned in front of it in a dungeon) and we fought for like 20 minutes. I did dwindle their HP/FP flasks so I hope they lost that battle (doubt it). One of them entered with 1~hp. Second attempt: Similar kind of dungeon, close to a green wall, three guys with Lightning Strike and one of them spammed Glintstone Pebbles first. I died, relatively fast. 😢

You were wondering about summoning NPCs - the answer is no. You never need to summon anything to progress a questline. Being invaded by npcs and the pseudo-online invasions (like Yura's or Millicent's) are occasionally required, but never summoning.

You can grab the blood tax ash by jumping of the cliff and attacking at the mohgwyn palace, kinda cool on a rapier or spear. It's near where the Pureblood Knight Medal teleports you. (PS: Bear in mind that jumping and grabbing that will also load you with 100-120k)

Idk if you’ve done thopps questline yet but if you do his then go back to the church of irith a scarab with the ash of war Thopps Barrier will spawn there. Early game magic parry (some say the scarab is the teleporting on near glinstone dragon but it’s never dropped for me there)

you should use the taunters tongue in any legacy or hero dungeons you go thru. Makes exploring on its' own chaotic af, especially if you add a challenge of 1 bonfire per dungeon (&/or only after a boss). Going on a side note, THAT makes me think alot of bonfires got tacced on at the last minute. Tons of shortcuts like all across leyndell or the prayer room elevator > malenia are just rendered pointless cause of it
