One of my favorite spears so I can confirm. It's pretty generic with more slash attacks than usual, I don't think it's as good as its crazy damage DS2 version (with S Dex scaling before you upgrade it at all) or the generalist DS3 version but it's a decent weapon overall.

The Dragon Halberd is a weapon I don’t see anyone else use. It’s one of my absolute favorites and it has a slightly unique ash of war. It’s spinning slash with lightning that buffs the weapon and can proc frost while buffed

I think an important factor to pay attention to when creating your duel build is Mind. If you notice, Chase leaves it at 10 which I believe is the starting level. I think a lot of players might invest into Mind so they can use the Ash of War a lot. But this takes away from important stats like Vigor and/or whatever attribute your weapon scales off of. More importantly, this forces you to use a variety of the weapon's attacks and only mix in the AoW at ideal times instead of spamming it. Plus you can lure your opponent into a false sense of security that you are not using the AoW, then blam! Transient Moonlight right to the face.

Yea it's on par with the heavy thrusting sword for me the great epee moveset feels so dynamic, while the dual wielding halberd moveset can cover so much area around you it makes you feel like you can barrel into a group of enemies without fear.

I’ve been using two guardian sword spears as they’re halberds too and they’re GREAT in PvP. Very good at rollcatching with the running L1 and a straight poke with the running R1. Make it lightning or blood for a Dex build

Oh, and as far as a weapon I would love to see you try out, that would be the “ALABASTER LORD'S SWORD”. I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen anyone use it, didn’t even know it existed. It’s a Greatsword that scales with mainly STR and INT, with a tiny bit of DEX. It’s weapon art is called “ALABASTER LORD'S PULL”, which, by its own description, is a better version of “Gravitas” with more range. Seems like it’d be a super interesting weapon. Maybe even powerstanced? Idk, I haven’t really used it. I just put on enough Talisman’s and popped a Rune Arc to get enough INT to try out the weapon art. Definitely is a unique weapon, and like I said, I never even heard or see it before I picked it up from a random enemy the other day.

I used the Tree Guardian Swordspear and the Golden Halberd for most of the game. Having the swordspear in your right hand gives you it's faster moveset.

Loved the vid, I'm a double halberd strength build who does zero PVP, but love to watch your vids for the weapon showcases from someone who understands nuance and timing. Elden ring is my first souls game, your pvp content has made me a better PVE fighter. Just finished my first playthrough with no summons, thanks to lessons ive learned from your fights. Still have no idea how to do your reverse backstep lol, will figure it out eventually.

To backstep, you simply press the dodge button. But instead of pressing the dodge button and inputting a direction to roll like you normally would, you just press the dodge button by itself and don't input any direction. Your character will automatically dodge backwards or "backstep". The difference is when you backstep, you don't have I-frames like you do when you dodge roll, so you can still be hit. To do a reverse backstep, you do a regular backstep, but right before you backstep, you pivot your character 180° to face the screen. And then, at the end of your backstep, you use an attack and rotate your character while attacking to face in the same direction you just moved in. Itll take a few tries to get it all down without messing up any of the inputs, but you'll get it eventually!

Yeah in order to consistently roll the paired halberd/scythe running attack up close they have to roll into you to your left or their right. Which is counter intuitive to gaining distance, which is why it's so effective.

I found the Ash of War called ‘Storm Blade’ surprisingly good in fights. It’s got small to medium range, average damage, can be cast in quick succession and I find it great in combination with my blood dual thrusting swords, being the Antspur Rapier in the right and the Cleanrot Knight’s sword in the left

I feel that dual-wielding certain weapons give you a damage boost that is simply too high. Using Two-Handed weapons simply doesn't make any sense anymore. Hopefully, they reduce the 2h damage slightly or even better they increase the 2h attack speed.

I feel that! idk if it works like that in this game but in previous ones it actually increases stamina usage when two handing so it's always hard to tell if it's worth for just slightly more damage

​@@Shmethan The last couple of days I've played a lot of arena and have to correct my post. There are only three weapons that need a fix. All of these are hitting with L1s with the same speed as with R1s while doing twice the damage. All other powerstancing weapons have unique L1 attacks which are significantly slower. The biggest issue IMO is the spear category. Some spears weigh as much as a greatsword but hit way faster with L1s and have a higher reach. And then there are the Straight and Curved Swords. Probably you've already been standing at close range with someone who simply annihilated you in a matter of two seconds with these. Spears, Cured Swords, and Straight Swords need a slowed-down version of the L1 attack, as all other weapon categorys have.

Hey chase you know when you rollcatch it's hard to do a 2-step sprint and then stop and then r1 again? It was far easier in ds3. But if you use an offhand weapon, it doesn't allow running attacks, so you can do the quick sprint up and rollcatch with an off-hand weapon because it's not allowed to running attack. Just food for thought in case u wanna try it. In Ds3 it worked great because running attacks only activated after 3-steps but in Elden ring it comes out immediately if you buffer a sprint r1

I use dual powerstancing halberds as well, but not these standard ones. I use the Knightrider Glaive in main hand and the Gargoyle’s Halberd in the offhand. Both scale at S with strength if you use the “heavy” affinity and they’re maxed out. They’re so damn good and fun, in both PvP AND PvE. It feels like I use every attack they have. And yes, the jumping L1 is almost the BnB with these. It’s fairly quick, decent range, but the damage is super good. I typically run the Flaming Strike AoW on the Knightrider Glaive. With the Gargoyle’s Halberd, I just switch around the AoW. Haven’t found one that is like, waay better than the other ones yet. The one I’ve tried the most on it is Phantom Slash, which is super fun to use. Just not sure how good it is in duels because it’s so slow and telegraphed. I really wish you could send out the Phantom Slash and have a way to cancel out of being forced to do an attack yourself. I don’t think that would make the AoW “too good” or anything, it would actually make it so much more viable. All they’d have to do is similar to what they did with Marais Executioner’s Sword, where you can roll cancel out of the AoW. Still give it recovery (just like Marias), but then be able to roll cancel out of the attack. Anyway, yeah, powerstanced heavy affinity halberds on a strength build are super good and fun! Awesome showcase once again!

@@RTG_YTC I'm always going to do what I want 🤣. The Naginata has amazing Dex scaling, natural Bleed passive for Blood/Occult infusion with decent Arcane scaling, and has a very punishing moveset. Dual-Wielded Naginatas were as common and prevelant as Moonveil was at launch. It isn't OP, but since it is usually a dual Bleed build, everyone whines and complains. Interestingly enough, I don't think I've seen Chase fight more than one or two Naginata in his showcases here. I enjoy the moveset, and the fact that investing in either Dex or Arcane offer a lot of potential for dual builds in this game.

Enjoy your videos. A Carian Knight's Sword vid showcase would be good. Been dual wielding it with the Lazuli Glintstone Sword, its block/parry/strike is seriously satisfying in PVP. You need alot of stamina to make it work though, at least 40, with talismans aswell and even flask. Ideally Id wanna take a dual wielding jump attack from colossal weapons. Best counter for poke attacks. No doubt you are a better duelist than me but I feel you underestimate the power of stamina.
