the community has been calling it an egg, but its clearly made of silken material, meaning its a cocoon. Insects actually completely liquefy inside their cocoon, reforming into a totally new body from the goo of the old one. Miquella looks to be in the early stages of liquefaction, and there is no telling what he may turn into once the transmogrification is complete, especially after Mohg's meddling.

At least, whatever passes as a vessel (or embryo as I call it) inside Miquella's shell has certainly been compromised by Mohgwyn's meddling. He'd have better luck waiting for Miquella to hatch first than immeadiate tampering. Now, I'd wager we have to collect materials to perform a proper ritual to break Miquella free. I can see the Formless Mother becoming our ally in this task, or something worse.

Since he's clearly not a child body, I'd say he's in the stages of reforming and what we see here is a partial transmogrification. Most likely, being removed from the Haligtree halted the completion, and Mohg's interference will have corrupted it. If Miquella does ever emerge, he's gonna be an eldritch horror, likely not much unlike his half brother is now.

Mohg is a villain you love to hate, and this makes me hate him even more. Miquella was by no means a child. Sure, he was cursed with eternal youth, but he's twin to Malenia, which makes him the same age (Malenia being a full grown adult and garneded herself a reputation as undefeated by the time of the Shattering, and the subsequent war). But even if he's not just a little boy, he's still the purest and most innocent of all. Everything you learn about him solidifies him as nothing but an absolutely benevolent person, who loved her sister and defied the very outer gods to find a way to save her from the plague that would one day kill her, if you yourself didn't. That's the reason he created the Haligtree and cocooned himself inside of it, in the hopes that, by doing so, he would grow older and more powerful in order to gain the strength to maybe save Malenia. But Mohg kidnapped him, fed him blood in order to wake him up, and, it is my fear, destroyed him. It's entirely possible that the fact that he looks so old inside of that egg is because he succeded, he really did turned older as he hoped. But if we are to use the opening cinematic as a guideline, he was still looking like a young boy when Mohg kidnapped him. So it's also likely that he looks so old because of Mohg. He knew Miquella would wake up if he got older, so he fed him blood to achieve exactly that: make him old. Old enough so he would wake up. But I fear he destroyed him because that wasn't the end goal of Miquella. He wanted to become more powerful, his hope being that by aging, he would. But that didn't happen. Mohg didn't understand what was that would wake Miquella from his slumber, but in his delusion he kept trying, only succeding in making him age. It feels so right to hate him.

Well to be fair mohg did succeed in in ageing miquella witch was miquella's goal in the first place he wanted to get old and powerful to become strong enough to cure malenia now seeing as malenia was one bloom away from becoming full rot goddess miquella needed a ton of power so the reason for his old man look is he knows he still aint powerful enough to cure his sister and mohg keeps feeding him cursed blood to age him and grow him powerful enough to become elden lord witch again would help miquella with his goal as the power of the elden ring would no doubt be stackable with his own power and help him cure his sister if anyone would be the villain in this situation it would be the player the one who killed not only the lord of blood that was helping miquella but also killed the undefeated swordswoman malenia blade of miquella the whole reason for miquella's existance i mean yesss mohg did kidnap miquella but he didnt do anything miquella wasnt already prepared to do himself for his sister he helped him grow and age and he would have eventually woken him to his full godhood potential if not for the player interference.....

In all honesty, I do think Mohg succed with his plans exactly, the accursed blood can and could corrupt one's own ambition and mind, exception for Varre. So most likely, I could see Mohg finally achieved his goals because if he haven't, the pools of blood and the corruption nature of it won't have any effect without a Vessel. Miquella to me, seems likely to have lost as he is defenseless and in a slumber, making him not responding to Mohg, hence we see Miquella look like an omen, for Mohg as you said, shared his blood with him and perhaps corrupted him for how much he shared his blood with him. I don't think Miquella will be as what we were told and shall be a foe than a friend for his corruption by the accursed blood.

For those who don’t know, mohg kidnapped miquella from the haligtree in his infant form aka the egg. Malenia does not know he was kidnapped and thinks he’s only asleep since she was sleeping from her last fight with radahn and due to her being blind. Mohg was trying to give him blood in hope that he would wake up to make him the next ruler of the lands between as his consort aka elden lord. Mohg’s god is an outer god named the Formless mother where we don’t know much lore yet aside from most blood incantations are derived from her.

I think Miquella is going to be the hardest Boss we ever met in a Fromsoftware Game. - He's a genius researcher - Favoured by all, because one of his greatest strength is literally making people follow him - has a deep connection to his sister Malenia - didn't give a fuck, that the greater will couldn't help him to relieve the curses of him and his sister and started his own research - He build the Haligtree himself and used it as a research facility to free himself and Malenia from their curses - He's a full blood empyrean - As a Demigod, he was the only one who could really defy the outer gods - mostly all who were close and dear to him, are dead by now - Mohg interfered with Miquellas progress of getting rid of his and Malenias curses, by cutting of his cocoon from the Haligtree - Mohg wants him to elevate his godhood, so he can become his counsel - Now he is in a deep slumber and no one knows, what the future holds for him - Malenia herself said that Miquella is the most fearsome Demigods of all and Ofnir has absolutely no knowledge of him When he wakes up and realizes what happened during his progress of elevating his godhood, he is going to stomp the lands between and make the outer gods pay for everything.

Actually, the Haligtree was watered with Miquella blood to grow that big. Haligtree means Holy tree, as his blood contains holy effect. It also signifies the, "power that gives life and growth", in contrast to Malenia rot power, adding up nicely to the duality of twins. You can say it's a research facility but most people in the game referred to it as the sanctuary for the weak people. You can see it through Loretta, Latenma, ans various Haligtree armor. He earned people' respect, not my charming people. He also created multiple holy incantations, one was a gift to his father, one was to commemorate Godwyn's death and pray for a true death. Another piece of info is from Castle Sol. From those accomplishments, he definitely earned people respect and worship, much less of his charm. Beside, who wouldn't be charmed by a smart, alluring, and gentle person? It's also interesting that he also has the power of sleep as St. Trina.

Some spoilery talk ahead . . . . I don't think we can take the imagery in the intro as 'factual'. For one thing we know Mohg stole the 'egg' that Miquella was in... and in that image of him whisking off with Miquella there is NO egg. We also see Marika and Radagan shattering/repairing the elden ring fairly basically as if it were a ring on a table when we now know that the Elden Ring is less of a tangible physical object and more like a spiritual rune inscribed 'inside' of Marika. I think it's even why we only see 'images' and not an FMV intro like in their other games. I think the pictures are meant to be something like the 'mythological' artistic license of the common peoples of the Lands Between.

I've read elsewhere that apparently, Miquella IS St. Trina, and that both have some sort of alluring/controlling power or ability. Apparently, Miquella wanted to create his own Erdtree to cure Melania's curse of Scarlett Rot, so, he sealed himself inside to grow or transform into a more powerful being, but was stolen away by Mohg who wanted to raise Miquella to Godhood and become his consort.

The Souls DLCs have rarely ever been predictable, but it'd be really cool if we got to go into Miquella's dreams. If we got to fight, or maybe even interact with in some way, an idealized form of Miquella that'd be awesome. Or maybe even get to see the Lands Between before the Shattering? However it's possible Godwyns body is in the roots as deathblight is strongly associated with him as you can see from all the giants who died to it after he lead the attack on them. As for those creatures I can't find anything on them other than Rodgier telling you to stay away from them and that he is able to get infected with the blight even from a long dead one in Stormveil. He says they are related to those who live in death but I thought those who live in death were related to Godwyn who lost his soul but his body lived. The creature in the roots seems to be fighting the roots and killed by deathblight though. It's all a bit of a mystery that I don't think I'll be able to figure out without DLC, developer discussion or some big breakthrough lore finds in the game.

I would like to add my two cents: normally, throughout the game, there will be boundaries with either structural walls, or drops with instant death zones, to keep you from where the devs didn't want you to go/see. I'm not so sure that Miquella will be a boss fight. I could see him as an ally, because from what we've heard, he was even more beloved and kind than Godwyn or Radahn, and had the uncanny power to make people like him. Given what we know, I think he'd be a guide or an assistant, but given FromSoft's infamously tragic streak, I wouldn't doubt the possibility of him becoming a boss. For all we know, Mohg's blood treatments probably turned him into a monster.

I can definitely see Miquella being the final boss of a potential DLC. He's heavily mentioned throughout the entire game, and is the only demigod Gideon Ofnir mentions that we don't actually get to fight. And it's the only Great Rune that we never get. (Ranni's rune is now part of "The Mending Rune of the Death Prince") He's also Radagon's offspring, what better DLC final boss than the son to the final boss of the game and the brother to Malenia, the most hyped boss in the trailers. I have a feeling From won't leave Miquella where it is, and it's possible that they temporarily cut him out to release the game sooner. If they couldn't leave Artorias alone with the wolf ring, then they won't leave this cocoon alone.

One thing I haven't seen people talk about is the fact that Miquella's cocoon form has some striking similarities to Griffith when he turns into Femto. I'm willing to bet my house Miquella in his God from will resemble Femto in some way. The main difference between the two however is their motivations. Griffith in his weakest state, betrays his comrades to ascend to godhood. Whereas Miquella's transformation was so that he could cure his and his sister's curses. Unfortunately for him (and probably us lol) Mohg ended up corrupting his ascension. Whatever he ends up becoming, when he awakens to find everyone dead, his motivations will likely become vengeful.

If you look around in Melania's boss room, you can see the spot where Miquella "nestled into" the Haligtree in order to save/invigorate it, something along those lines. Mohg came by and snatched him out of the roots of the Haligtree, which is why you see a spherical hole in the roots by Melania's boss room. Mohg strait up stole him in his slumber, and placed him in a cocoon in order to attempt some form of rebirth that would allow Mohg to initiate the "Mohgwyn Dynasty". I believe he was setting Miquella up to be a 'puppet king' that he controlled through his blood arts, and instead of siding with the Greater Will that presides over the Two Fingers, he'd be siding with the "Formless Mother", an entirely different entity on the same level as the Greater Will.

I feel like the fight with Miquella would consist of two phases. First phase would literally be like the orphan of Kos, where it's the thing we see in the egg that's fighting us: old and hollow-looking heap of skin and bones, simply flailing it's appendages around like a madman. Second phase would begin when you deplete it's health bar. Cracks go all over it's skin as it begins to crumble, only for a beautiful demigod (similar to Gwyndolin) to emerge right out of it, flowing locks of golden hair and silver-embroidered white robes being the most prominent features (check the front of St. Trina's torch to get an idea). The boss name would change too, now proudly stating: "Miquella, Lord of Unalloyed Gold". Since he is the most fearsome of Empyreans, he will be even stronger than his previously-undefeated sister, devastating his enemies in both melee (using a scepter/sword combo) and ranged combat, wielding light given form (shaped into disks, mines, remote controlled warhammers/spears, and much more), possibly even charming the player's summons with his special attacks, players or spirits, the former losing control over their characters and fighting like NPCs for the duration. His Great Rune would have to be something amazing though, or else I'd be very disappointed lol.

Between Malenia, Miquella e Melina there's a common butterfly theme. Malenia has the Aeonian Butterfly, Miquella the Nascent Butterfly and Melina the Smoldering Butterfly. The entire Haligtree palace is full of silken cocoons, basically we're talking about a metamorphosis theme. We even have Miquella in a giant silken cocoon, resting upon pelvis bones. What if the Alabaster Lord revealed to him certain "truths" about what the stars really are? I have a feeling his motivations for stopping the stars were much deeper than to spite his sister; little environmental/item details imply the Rennala side were all fairly close before the Shattering (Rykard has a portrait of Radahn in his home; Ranni entrusted Rykard with a tool to protect himself from Black Blade Maliketh, etc). Ranni's fate being locked was probably more a consequence of Radahn's primary motivations, in my opinion.

Miquella enveloped himself into that cocoon to break two curses at the same time: the first one being his curse of being eternally young, so he's basically going full butterfly mode here and what we see in the cocoon is just him being 'unfinished'. The second curse is the one of Malenia. He grew the entire Haligtree while in that state to cure Malenia from the Scarlet Rot but then Mohg has shown up and took Miquella. Mohg was trying to offer his cursed blood to Miquella so he could ascend to full godhood but Miquella was not responding to that at all. So whatever happened to Miquella was nothing of Mohg's doing. He's merely in an unconcious state because he isn't done evolving yet

@@Thenamelessnomad My guess would be that removing him from the haligtree fucked the process somehow. We do know that he was feeding the haligree his blood to make it work, so it was likely some sorta feedback loop and in nature, most animals that cocoon themselves need to get through that phase uninterrupted, otherwise they either die or are heavily malformed. Given the shape of the haligtree is unmistakably human and the cut out area is roughly where a womb would he, I'm gonna guess that cutting out the cocoon is kkinda like removing a fetus' umbilical

@@hideous_taco_michael_zacki ? This sounds passive aggressive idk why. Anyways, that’s what fromsoft does, especially in Elden ring but also in other games. Put amazing stuff beneath the surface where no one is looking for that one day someone stumbles upon it by himself and makes the community aware of it. That’s what you mean by using the wiki and guides and KZbin. But they don’t expect you to find everything in one playthrough though, that’s why there are so many conflicting quests and endings. No way you’re gonna do that with one character without doing many Ng. That’s what’s so fun 😊

@@hideous_taco_michael_zacki you know that it's fairly easy getting to this place without a guide right? Varres quest line gets you there, or you can just explore the consecrated snowfield, like I did, and find the portal that takes you there. No guide needed.

@@hideous_taco_michael_zacki Is it hard to find though? Varr's questline can apparently get you there (though I play offline so I couldn't get there the easy way) and then there is still the snowfield way that isn't really hidden once you are actually in the snowfield.

Depicting the as-of-yet unseen St Trina as an adult is considered unnerving on the description of the Torch of St Trina. This seems to indicate that Miquella, who was cursed to remain a child forever, and is currently hibernating (the torch has a sleep inducing effect) is probably the same person as St Trina. Any thoughts?

@emerald if they cut the content that confirms they were the same person then that automatically means they aren't in the current lore. They would have kept the files if they wanted the two characters to be the same person.
