I wish everyone who says "skill issue" would also explain how to gain that skill they're talking about. In this video Alex did a fantastic job at explaining calmy what to do. Saying "git gut, skill issue" doesn't tell you anything, it doesn't teach you anything. That's like a teacher saying to a kid "that's wrong". What does it tell you? Nothing in particular. But to explain something in terms the person understands, that's a real skill!

The problem is that many people think they need to finish a massive game in like 3 days lol. They also think it is bad to be stuck on a boss for a few hours or even to go to sleep and try the next day or the next weekend (this is often the time when you first try that 'impossible" boss, muscle memory takes a good night of sleep to kick in). People become impatient to a point where they are not enjoying the game, it is not a game anymore, it is like a kind of work or at least a task that they must finish as fast as possible to move on to the next task and the cycle repeats. And in many cases, they want to brute force their way, spamming the same attacks, panick rolling, chugging flasks while hoping their massive health and damage will be enough to avoid learning patterns and beat the boss .They want to get out of this uncomfortable situation where they are trapped with the boss and be done with it quickly. LOL. They need to realize that this is actually the BEST part of the game. To beat the strongest ennemies after a cool battle where you have made progress, where you can read the boss, where you evaded with style, where your heart is pumping near the end with the fear to win, and then you finally win and it feel awesome. That's what they paid for but somehow they don't want to play that way. I'm not gatekeeping, you play as you want. But stop making it like a chore for yourself. The game has excellent gameplay, you should enjoy it and if it takes 2 weeks, one month, 6 months to beat so what ? The game is great, enjoy it.

The only fromsoft game that was actually legit hard is Sekiro, you have no choice but to master the parry deflect mechanics, no cheese builds or summons in Sekiro, every other souls game(even bloodborne) is either hard or easy depending on your builds, its an rpg after all, all playstyles are welcome.

Sekiro feels difficult at first, but I feel like once it clicks it becomes one of the easier ones. Like you said, you’re forced to learn to play the game the way the game intends you to. Once you do, it’s pretty smooth sailing. I still hate headless though.

I think most Souls veterans had the Alex experience with Elden Ring. That is to say: we had a glorious time exploring and smashing everything that moved. If you make use of available tools (build guides, combat tips, strategies and tactics, summons, etc) the game will kneel before you. Of course all that stuff is just a shortcut for learning firsthand but it doesn't matter how you learned as long as you learned. It's cool to see you guys demonstrate this.

Scadutree Blessings are everything. I beat the first Dancing Lion on Scadutree Blessing 9 with around 3 deaths. If you feel like boss hurts way too much with basic attacks and you barely do any damage: Put a skull mark on the map for the boss, then go explore. Scadutree Blessings make the DLC significantly easier. At 12+ Blessings the DLC starts feeling like standard late game Elden Ring.

@@mshake7056 I don’t think there’s anything wrong for someone to use summons. Game mechanics and play styles are up to the player. But a lot of people choose not to summon because it’s similar to playing as co-op or with assistance, even if it’s an NPC summon. Not the same feeling as soloing the boss. Which is what a lot of streamers try to do and then claim it’s too hard. These bosses are still harder than base game too

Only move I can think is like the explosion but if you roll into him, it doesn't hurt you anyway. The millania like move with the impaler spike aoe I can't imagine you can jump.

I feel like a lot of people complaining about the difficulty are doing it on several NG+ runs deep. Plus the balance for the DLC is very much built around collecting the DLC-only buff items. Stay off NG+ and collect the fragments and the DLC is very much just a continuation of the growth of the late base game difficulty curve. Also if you really struggle, dex/arc+bleed is still a king build for bosses. Also lots of bosses hold their attacks until the sun dies. Don't spam roll because you'll just drain all your stamina and still get hit.

If you keep your finger on the 'down' button on D-pad, it switches to the first consumable in the line...which is healing usually. :) It prevents accidentally pushing too many times. :)

See, I have changed that and now have my heal, fp, physick, and torrent on the tool bar. All that's in the d-pad is the throwing items. Makes things much more consistent.

I stopped keeping my physick and Cerulean in the rotation. I just keep the physick in the inventory because you almost always have time to get to it and the Cerulean in the pouch. It has been so much easier with not having to click through them through fights

Want to make a super weapon, once you beat Commander Gaius choose his sword as a boss reward then put that ash of war on the Gut sword and pick the bleed affinity, you'll get hyper armor when you use the ash of war plus you'll hit the target with so many spinning attacks that it will bleed and destroy almost anything that bleeds.

I've got about 330 hrs myself and I'm on NG + at Level 221 and have been struggling in the DLC. My wife and I finally beat Messmer last night, shew f**k that guy lol 😂 I also managed to beat the Divine Beast Dancing Lion on my first try, and he's the only one I've beaten so far on first try. My takeaway from this video is that this type of game requires two sets of skills: planning and execution. You need to understand the behavior of the enemy and adapt your build and strategy to it (planning), and then you need to be able to time your attacks, dodges and parries accordingly (execution). Alex had done all the planning, OJ did the execution (with some coaching from Alex). To me, a game needs to be less demanding than that to be enjoyable. But that's ok: not all games are for me, nor I intend to play every game that is released.

I think a major problem that not very many people are talking about when it comes to why people are having such a hard time with the DLC is that a lot of people are going into the DLC on their original characters that are in “new game+” something and nobody seems to understand that you keep your tree blessing level when you go into new game+ so not only is it harder in general but also it is scaled up since they expect you to have somewhere between 10-20 blessing levels before going into new game+ and they maxing out at level 20 by finding all the fragments you found the first time through. But every random person that is asking for help in the Xbox posts is in new game+ 3 or higher and saying that they can’t beat anything and they are asking for help with almost everything. So I think most of the people having problems just need to have made new characters and go in on the first play through and it will be much more manageable since that is what was intended it feels like

The only time I recommend using the gold summon sign is during Messmer (because it's part of a quest) and during the Bayle fight (because the gold summon signs INSIDE of the arena do not add to the boss' HP). 3 times through and I've never summoned anyone other than Mimic and Hornsent. I wouldn't even recommend using Mimic for the final boss as you're just not going to have enough time to bring him out safely.

He's not really teaching him anything. He's telling him to summon NPCs every time and stack damage buffs. That knowledge would be useless if other Joe decided to try and beat the bosses solo, like they were intended.

I love this type of games mainly because of the adventure and experience that they are able to offer. The main problem with games like this one is that you have to do so much to accomplish so little. For players that need quick responses and results interest will be lost quickly.

man, i really need to get elden ring now, i always thought soul games were taking me way too much time to beat bosses with. My experience with nioh 2 is just me dying over and over until i beat the boss and getting half my hp bar gone or getting one shotted by a boss in the underworld and code vein where every enemy one shotted me past a certain point. i really need to get back into souls games now.
