Elden Ring - Main Theme // Piano Solo

Or: me going with the flow and hoping for the best!
The time for Elden Ring covers has probably passed for many people, but for me, it wouldn't have made sense to record this any earlier! I only finished the game about two weeks ago (and still play on and off in NG+).
The arrangement is, once again, the kind where I did not transcribe it before playing it, so for now, there is no sheet music (sorry!). I could call it improvised, though I practiced the theme and chords for a good while before actually sitting down and recording it, pretty much since the game itself was released!
So, these are variations, not a completely faithful cover of the main theme!
For those interested - Elden Ring was my introduction to Souls games. Funnily enough, what got me interested enough to play it in the first place was the open-world aspect, not the famous, frustratingly-difficult mechanics that I've heard so much about. Those intimidated me, honestly. But it turns out that past the beautiful, immersive world, those mechanics are right up my alley too and I got so, so hooked. I wonder if I'll try the other games...
Oh, and I finished my degree!

same for me. "guns for hire" actually revived my love to play piano again. i would say it was the hardest piece i learned to the point when i started and it was not easy. especially playing the octaves in the last part was very hard in the beginning but i kept trying and i am kind of satisfied with the way i can play it now. thank you calico for the great covers and for the possibility to learn the pieces with ur arrangements. wish u all a great start in 2023.

This is such an amazing take on the song - while the original is this high octane, grandiose fanfare and a rallying call-to-arms for the Tarnished, this piano solo feels incredibly somber and the more gentle, nuanced sound of each note feels like it's reminding you of all the tragedy that led you to the final battle - almost like the Gwyn Theme of Elden Ring. Actual chills. Would the Elden Beast's theme happen to be up in the air for the future? >_>

congrats on finishing your degree! decided to come back to ur channel to see if there was anything ive missed! because i was also busy finishing my degree aha, but im going thru ur covers again while i study for the job hunt. the "difficulty" of the souls games make them so intimidating from an outward perspective, which i totally understand, and im so glad you got to experience the game! i dont game much anymore, but i always find myself replaying souls games, theyre so rewarding! and i feel so united with others in the strife as i stumble across messages of players in the same path as me. and that sense of unity in accomplishment is why i fell in love with these games.

Liked it very much when it sped up at the middle, it went from good to perfect in five seconds. Nice seeing you do a rendition of a Soulsborne song, they tend to have a nostalgic aura that is filled with both dread and anticipation. Pleasant surprise to see you update one so close to the last one, a fan could accustomed to this luxury. 😛 I would recommend you the song 'Gwyn, Lord of Cynder' from DS1, it is one of my favorites and I think you would like it.

@@Caliko It is a shame for bloodborne, I actually don't even know why they still haven't ported it to PC. If you were to try the other games, from what I know, Sekiro and DS3 have the most reliable gameplay elements, the previous titles feature a bit of jank xD Oh, and I had a thought earlier, you seem to greatly enjoy Yuki Kajiura's work, especially in Madoka Magica. So then, since I haven't seen any Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel OSTs on your channel, may I hazard a guess that you haven't watched that show and those movies? c: I'd warmly recommend giving them a chance if you haven't, I think F/Z is a gem although it isn't nearly as uplifting as MM (yes, I just called MM uplifting, I realize some may disagree xD). I am less fond of FSN HF but the animation and the soundtrack are absolutely stellar. Or I suppose checking out the OSTs themselves is also an option !

@@Camustang I have actually watched Fate/Zero and enjoyed it very much! I also watched the Heaven's Feel Movies, and Unlimited Bladeworks. Hana no Uta from the second movie is one of my favorite songs ever, I'm always thinking on and off about covering that LOL So, great recommendation! I'll probably try some of the DS titles eventually

Great cover! You always manage to make whole orchestrations sound so good on only a piano. I've almost finished elden ring now as well, and i really recommend you play the other souls games as well (DS2 is my favourite despite most people thinking it's the worst one...) I've been thinking of trying to play other games soundtracks on only piano as well, but I'm not sure how you make it sound so full? Do you have any tips for an aspiring creator?

If you do ever wanna try the other games, let me recommend Bloodborne. It is without a doubt the best game in the "series" when it comes to worldbuilding, lore and music. Also generally accepted to be Miyazaki best piece.
