I can name a couple attacks that Torrent would be useful for: The Ring attack where you have to jump over rings to leave an AoE and the tracking spells.

The godslayers greatsword weapon art gives extra poise now! It makes the weapon actually viable without heavy armor. It's probably my favorite weapon so it's a welcomed change

@iianmitchelldub it's just the weapon art but it's still huge. Before if you weren't wearing some of the heaviest armors in the game a stiff breeze could stagger you out of it but now it takes a bit more for that

The Glintblade Phalanx nerf is _harsh_. From a bit of testing, I can fairly safely conclude that it's a *50%* nerf: in other words, it was 10 poise damage per blade, now it's 5. One use therefore now deals "only" 20 poise damage. (I tested this on a few mobs, but the most reliable way was an Omen at the Abandoned Coffin site of grace. Three casts where all swords hit, followed by a single R1 1 of a Short Sword causes a stagger) Glad I got my RL1 run done when I did, I sure abused that back when it was still as strong as it was!

Hardly noticed a difference. The way I use phallanx is in tandem with something like square off, giant hunt or even impaling thrust. I put the phallanx up then switch weapons with one of those AoWs. Instead of hitting an enemy with two square offs or two gaint hunts, the phallanx completes the stance break. If you're using the phallanx alone to do stance breaking, its kind of slow even before as one volley never stance broke anything,

The patch seems to try to bring stance of range/projectile based ashes in line with each other. It made no sense that Flame of the Redmanes went from 40 to 10 stance damage, but Glintstone Phalanx and Moonlight Greatsword still did 40/35 stance damage (both of which are nerfed with this patch).

I went through first playthrough and ng+ as pure sorc, 20 health, int and fp 40+ (can't remember exact numbers) Stopped at SL160 I believe. So I can safely say these changes don't hurt a bit.

@@TheRealJohnHooperDouble seals stack. So, you get 2 - 15% boosts on dragon communion incantations. Max your primary and you can keep your secondary at whatever to still get that boost. I use bite, claw, and the dragon breaths.. occult maxed Morningstar and you can do some melee.

I have a stance breaker build that uses phallanx. I did not notice any changes to stance damage. I can still stance break those omens in the sewer with 2 volleys. But that's not how its normally used anyway. I would cast one phallanx then smash into an enemy with impaling thrust or something. That's usually more than enough to break their stance.

I'm excited for dex buffs. Went a wretch dex build to have fun with a few weapon types in a new build, and have fun way more with all the new DLC weapons. So far I've had the most fun with bloodhound's fang and morgott's sword together, using the arcane mask that gives like +8 arc for -5% physical damage outgoing. But also got a double scythe phantom slash setup, or a thunderbolt ash of war on guardian swordspear if I want more range/lightning and pierce insteada slash and bleed. My thought process was if I get faith as sorta secondary stat, and wretchd lets me explore all the stats minimally, I get to buff everything with golden vow (maybe flame grant me strength depending on the use case) and every weapon I wanna try that isnt extreme in something like intel is pretty usable. So far I hadn't branched out to any intel weapons yet, they all seem to rely on the intel stat pretty hard... Maybe considering the wing of astel, that weapon's dope. 20 intel is steep tho for me not wanting intel.

Because FromSoft doesn't like Casters. They want Casters to play as Spellblades instead. Why else do you think Seals/Staves have zero gameplay value outside Spells, no Ash of War options, and no Infusions. Caster gameplay has been a near complete downward spiral after DS2.

Icerind hatchet for example is a great early game weapon. It has frost build up and faster attack speed compared to other axes. And infusable axes can be amazing with all those different ashes of war you can put on them. I enjoyed my true barbarian str build with Warped axe and Braggart's roar. Wild strikes is a cool option too.

@@gamist8166 It's not that, the ashes of war on axes are mostly kind of bad. But the warped axe is actually pretty nasty thanks to its bonkers scaling as either a strength, or arcane/strength build. It's got S strength scaling, unusually high status scaling when given an ash of war, and if you make it an occult weapon it scales with both strength and arcane at a B.

I loved the Elden Beast boss I thought it was such a beautiful and majestic scene-but MAN it sucked to have to keep chasing the mfer around the arena. Glad we can mount now-another thing they could have done is just let us skip Radagon once we already beat him-unless we quit & exit then yes start over again. Not that he’s hard, it just added onto the tedium when you’re trying to keep your momentum going of trying to defeat Elden Beast.

The gelmir, and prince of death staffs really needed a boost in scaling. Golden order had good scaling at like 45/45, or 50/50 for incantations, but on the sorcery side the prince, and gelmir staff were terrible at those investments. So it meant the whole point of going int/faith was ruined since your sorcery damage sucked. Hopefuly thier scaling is on par with golden order seal now so you arent gimped on one side or the other. And hopefully the relase more dual scaling weapons to go with sword of night and flame.

Blasphemous blade didn't receive a nerf that matters. The damage and healing are the same so you can still spam it. It just won't stunlock bosses like malenia anymore.

@@randomgeneratedname6035 yeah the actual wave does less stance damage but after hearing three separate CC's say it's been nerfed to the ground and two of them specifically state it's due to the knockdown, I assume most people that care about this nerf were only using BB to cheese malenia and smaller bosses like black knifes maybe. Most bosses aren't even affected by the knockdown in the first place. Some less stance pressure isn't a big deal when what made it broken in the first place is the high damage, heal on aow hit, and heal on kill. Like I used it for a while way back when I first got it since I was going str/fth anyway (though I beat malenia with a mimic and dragon incants), but more recently I've been having fun with Magmawyrm's Scalesword.

Vyke's war spear was great for invaders, now I just don't know, although after nerfing axes and hammers now un-nerfing my cold dual pickaxes will be more devastating than they already are, neat!

It refers to how fast the full poise amount activates. iirc stamp uppercut generates 30 poise for you in about 1.5 seconds from pressing the button

OMG Torrent is now usable in the Elden Beast fight?! now I'm def going into NG+ after finishing SotE to fight the EB once again but now with Torrent at my side! Being able to summon Torrent during the Elden Beast fight and being able to open and close the mapscreen with the same button! Who knew life could be so beautiful!

@@justingoers i was playing elden ring almost non stop past week to prepare for dlc new character and after todays patch I noticed significant drop in smoothness in game. I have locked 60fps, its not dipping even to 59, but game is stutering, im playing on rtx 4070 and ryzen 7 7800x3d.

​@@gabbisonejust turn off EAC, I just play without, the problem is that it can only be played offline. Elden ring uses only one core of your cpu, that's what freezes the game. You need to reset one core of the cpu before playing, and it's solved. But to reset the cores, you need to turn off EAC.

I dunno what they mean by increased scaling on staffs and seals. I wrote down what the spell buff on all of them was pre patch and checked after the patch and the numbers are the exact same. Did they mean early game perhaps?

they probs changed the behind the scenes values they actually use for calculation, A scaling has never been the same as A scaling, it's just a range name for the real values. Have a look at the actual attack rating, it's higher now I presume

Well my plan on having Taker's Flame carry me through the DLC may not be all that good so that sucks. Azur's Comet with Cerulean Cracked tear/Tera magica was my back up but that seems a bust too. I might go dragon communion now since the seals got buffed.

Have you tried builds that are not based on cheesing? It's very fulfilling once you get the hang of it. You can be successful with any weapon in the game

Being strong is different than cheese. If you want to dance around a boss for 50 minutes doing 10 damage a hit all the power to you but that's not my cup of tea.

I like the idea of the increase of damage for keen affinity. This will make dex/caster hybrid builds better. More damage in one hand and faster cast speed in the other. Nice.

Yep I'm swapping between Great Mace for stance dmg to the Great Axe for raw dmg. I might try the Ex GA again. Only nerf my build got was blocking stamina increased which I need to test.
