Miyazaki confirmed the DLC will have its own leveling system apparently similar to Sekiro type of power up design. I have only just started Sekiro, so I am no expert, but this is to prevent players from coming into the DLC over-leveled, since many of us have builds by now in the original game that are OP.

Fromsofts DLCs are always full expansions (with Sekiro being the Sole exception, but that one was free so makes sense^^). And so far, the Trackrecord shows that the DLC ALWAYS has some of the Best content of the Games (like seriously, look at any "Favorite Boss List" for Fromsoft games and its usually entirely made up of DLC bosses and final Bosses). We are in for a treat fellas^^.

Always keep your main character handy and don't New Game+ them I suppose is the real answer to Jacob's concerns here. My little guy has been relaxing and ready, awaiting possible DLC since I beat Elden Ring. So I'm good to go anytime. Since then I've multiple new characters in play to get my Elden Ring fix in. Also NG+ is overrated; you already have your build figured out. That's the best part. It's not like you'll find any new spells or gear in NG+, just some mathematically more difficult enemies. Which is the least interesting way to increase difficulty. So, uh, yeah. Never do NG+ in From Software games, just roll new characters. Then you'll never have to worry about "being ready" for DLC.
