I met your channel through the Elden Ring videos, and it was the first playthrough of a game I ever watched online, it got me into this kind of content and streams, it will be nostalgic and interesting to watch a new gameplay after the DLC :D I can't wait to spend a lot of hours playing this too

Maybe Messmer is Marika's unwanted son that one of the ghost/spirits was speaking of. Also, there is a dungeon called *Impaler's* catacombs, in Weeping Peninsula, that might indicate Marika sent him to the land of shadows and to never return instead of killing him. He has attributes of 'sins' like snakes or eyes that resemble a connection to the dragon communion, or the dark flames. So maybe her reason for sending him there is becuase he associated himself with said sins to gain power, but doing so was against his mother's order.

My guess is that Messmar is gonna be the main poster child boss for the DLC while the optional super boss of the DLC will probably be Miquella and every bit of challenging as his sister. Kind of like how Lady Maria was the poster boss of Bloodborne's DLC. My guess is that he is a traitor. In ER lore snakes are used to symbolize traitors. His eyes are also similar to the ones you can get when taking part in dragon communion. Perhaps he is the reason why snakes are used that way? Messmar could very much be similar to the nameless king. A son who betrayed his father and was banished and erased from public perception.

Everyone's already crafting theories, making guesses on who's who and where the actual setting is... Me, I'm just hyped for those martial arts spinning kickboi moves and that FULL AUTO CROSSBOW. About that giant head with the tiny legs: you've got something similar in the base game with the Dragon Communion incantations, where you just grow a giant dragon head and spew whichever flavor of fire you've got equipped. That one seems to be similar but a roar of some kind, likely a buff.

I’m so excited to play this game and to see your play through as well!! My guess is that Mesmer is another persona of Miquella (similar how Saint Trina is probably a alter ego of Miquella as well). His Trident reminds me of Mohg’s Trident and his flames remind me of the blood flame, so he could be a corrupted alter ego of Miquella. I’ve also seen theories that he may be Melina’s twin, which would be cool. Other theories think he may be related to Rykard because if the snake and flames. Marika is going to be important here and we may discover some secrets about her as well. Regardless, what’s for sure is that Mesmer is another child of Marika (at least I’m confident about that, it hasn’t been confirm lol).

Thinking back about the link to snakes... technically, if you go back to Rykard's arena, even IF you get rid of Tanith as she is feasting on Rykard's snake corpse, the corpse itself doesn't completely go away, regardless of Tanith's death. As far as I know, Rykard is the only major boss whose body doesn't flat out disappear upon defeat. Not saying that this is related to Mesmer. But let's be honest, Rykard/Tanith are the only major characters that relate to the snake motif. So perhaps Mesmer's mother is Tanith...somehow.

The entrance being there was confirmed in an interview, and yeah, there are 8 new weapon types, so much more weapons. The types already confirmed are the automatic crossbow, throwing daggers, martial arts, reverse swords (wielding them backwards) and dueling shield (looks like a shield and a twin-blade merged together, the character fighting Messmer is using it)

Interesting take! Malenia was guarding Miqeulla in the Haligtree when Mohg stole it, however it’s possible she didn’t notice a switch of the egg!

Lots of people seem to be against the theory that Miquella and Messmer could be the same person, but like..............I could genuinely see it, plus there's nothing in Miyazuki's interviews that actually flat out contradicts this. The "this person is also somebody else completely" is actually a pretty typical and common element in Elden Ring. It would be, at the very least, a direct parallel to Marika and Radagon. The same way Marika and Radagon started as different people (well I don't believe this is fully confirmed, but sort of implied) and then fused with one another somehow - it could be something similar here, where Miquella and Messmer have become one and the same. Somebody with blonde hair, somebody with red hair... Either way, they would still adress Marika as "Mother" so the dialogue still holds up. My only issue with this theory is that Miquella was already more or less implied to have an alter-ego/second persona in "St. Trina" - so that would basically give him a third one, and I don't know how I feel about that. But considering we only have one mere trailer and a few interview lines, I do feel like some people are getting WAY TOO condescending shutting theories down entirely. Like....we know basically nothing still. Let people have their fun, yknow?

I think Radagon and Marika were always the same person The only thing in the entire game that hints that Radagon could have fused with Marika is that she says he hasn't become a god yet, but that line could very easily be interpreted as him reuniting with Marika. since there is much more evidence to the contrary, in the preceptor's set it is said that the sewn mouth of the mask represents their commitment to keeping the secrets of their lord Radagon, but what secrets would Radagon have at the time of his union with Rennala? Of course, you can say that he could have many secrets unrelated to Marika, but narratively this decision to put this description makes no sense as it doesn't mean anything to the story and with the whole revelation of Radagon being Marika this description is simply not random, Radagon and Marika seem to represent the laws of cause and effect and the law of regression, Marika as cause and effect as we see her destruction of the elden ring as a catalyst for events and Radagon regression for trying to repair the ring and unite with Marika again but this second part loses all meaning if he was never Marika, if he united with Marika and was never her then he is not regressing to Marika since he was never part of her, that only makes sense if he was originally Marika and split from her and eventually rejoined, obviously they were physically separated since Radagon was on Raya Lucaria and Marika was on Lyendell, and that also leaves the entire lore of why Malenia and Miquella are empyreans totally without a sense, Miquella and Malenia are described to have been born Empyreans because they were born children of a single god, this makes sense if Radagon and Marika are the same person as they would have the same blood, which would result in the twins being 100% divine blood o which would also explain why they have vulnerable births and have curses, because you know... same blood, the whole game we see twins, things dividing in two, and being born with two consciousnesses like Messmer's own snake that has two heads, and what all these things have in common is that they did not become that way but were born that way

So there are alot berserk references like that giant flame construct being a reference to Wickerman, Messmer referenced to the Flame Dragon Knight. The Horned Omen Lion thing looked like something similar to the Lion Dance. Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is FromSoftware's "Largest expansion ever." - Based on lore written by George RR Martin prior to the game's release. - 10+ new bosses - 8 new weapon types - Boss equal in difficulty to Malenia - Will contain a Poison Swamp Also From what Miyazaki has said in interviews, these are the Shadow Lands where Marika originates from, something happened to have it become disconnected from the Erdtree. Miquella has come here to retrace his mother's steps, but Messmer the Impaler seems to be its ruler, and sits in the same throne the Demi Gods have outside the Erdtree. Pilgrims have followed Miquella here to be friendly NPCs as we track down Miqulla on their journey. Considering his red hair and how he calls for his mother, Messmer may be a bastard Empyrean.

I think the interview meant to say Marika first set foot in the Lands of Shadow before she came to the Lands Between, but I don't think it black on white states she originates from there (in the sense : this might be one of the many places she travelled to before she got to the Lands Between). But yes Miquella still seems to be "tracing back" his mother's footsteps. Marika is a Numen, and the Numen are said to have come from outside the Lands Between from a place known only as 'the lands of the Numen' - this, in theory, could be the Lands of Shadow, because....who knows... but it woud be just that... a theory. There's nothing to confirm that just yet. A lot of the terminology surrounding Numen seems to be in relation with "the sea" - in the sense, that they lived "in a land across the sea". If you look at the map of the Lands Between, you'll see lots of water and also boats. So personally I always theorized that the Numen are very much from the same world as the Lands Between, just from a land far away, from across the sea. But again...just a theory. On the other hand, from the way Miyazuki spoke of the Lands of Shadow, it almost feels like a... "land that lives in the shadow of the Lands Between" - some sort of Shadow Realm or something. It doesn't actually strike me as a Land from a Boat Ride distance. But pure speculation, of course.

Me too. Miquella already has Saint Trina as a alter ego (it’s implied). So him having another one; one corrupted because of Mohg, the formless mother, or something else- makes a lot of sense. Plus Marika has Radagon, why wouldn’t the prodigious Miquella have another (more powerful) persona? Especially since he wanted get rid of his flesh and all that is gold (Messmer could be his corrupted gold or something).

The names start with the first letter of their mother's name, and Rykard's mother is Rennalla. So it is highly unlikely that Messmer is Rykard.

The creature of different body parts, for some reason gives me Godrick the Golden vibes, we know his soul was killed and his body remains festering and rotting after Ranni used the rune of death to kill her body but keep her soul, could that be an attempt to make him live again? Or some sort of mutated version? When we see his body, its almost twisted into a mermaid sort of creature. That boss fight, he looked to have moved with some fluidity. Idk just a theory.

Yeah this is what's making me more and more convinced Messmer is some sort of "banished" 3rd child of Marika and Radagon. Although to me it just makes me more curious about what is Melina's relation to Marika and her offshoots - afterall, before Messmer came into the picture with this DLC, Melina was the one associated with the Smoldering/Fire Butterfly in this specific theory - her name starts with an M (and ends with an A, for what it's worth lol - making it closer to the other 3), she had burns all over her arms (at least, maybe more) even before she burned the Erdtree, and while her hair isn't red (or blonde), I always felt like her hair color was a good middle-ground between Radagon's red hair and Marika's dark blonde hair giving her this sort of strawberry blonde/light brown color - which I thought would make perfect sense as the 3rd child (Malenia has red hair like her father, Miquella has blonde hair like his mother, and then boom Melina would be in between both). Not to forget, Melina is clearly associated with Miquella in some way, as it's theorized Torrent belonged to Miquella first, and Melina is stated to have known the previous owner of Torrent (so....Miquella). So it's like...okay...Messmer can be the 3rd child here, I could totally see that... but where does Melina fit in all of this? She's clearly entangled with Marika and Radagon's side, one way or another. But who knows how.

I miss seeing your playthrough of Elden Ring (and Fromsoft games), I really loved everything in it, I met you through it, so is special for me to see this, to comeback here! About theories, I can not stop thinking about the “Rotten Duelist” that shows only two times all the base game at “Consecrated Snowfields” and anothe dungeon, he has a garb, that you used, that has snakes in it and is red (in a very similar color tone of the Meesmer's garb), furthermore the style reassembles the aesthetic of Meesmer in some way, another thing is the grab attack the he does wich consists of hold you with one arm and let the snake of his garb bite you. Other thing I tend to think of in his visual are the wings, looks like dragon/bat wings, this reminds me of that armor we find in Farum Azula called “Drake Knight Armor”, and visually similar in color and style seem to evoke the same thing, especially thinking about this idea of ​​d dragons visual. Just two things that links aesthetically to his visual (mainly the Rotten Duelist) that I am thinking about

I know Messmer is confirmed to be as powerful as the other Demi gods (which is why Miyazaki said he had him sitting on a throne within Morgott’s boss arena, to show he’s on equal power to the others). But I haven’t read or heard he’s another child. Though I’m pretty sure he is Marika’s child.
