Kale's Cut Content has the best storytelling I've ever seen.

This has to be some of the most intriguing cut content yet, with several implications. Firstly, Kale is aware of the Frenzied Flame Proscription in this version (or at least has seen it in a dream), something that his questline would have revolved around finding. Secondly, the way he speaks of his brothers and the flame make it seem that they are essentially infected with it and it has melded them into a sort of hivemind; they seem to instantly know when one of them has been assaulted. Additionally, instead of being a "choice" made after discovering it underground and succumbing to the wish of burning the world away, this version of the Flame of Frenzy almost seems to be something that happens by itself when lots of hatred and resentmen brews within a person and needs to be conciously kept back by not allowing yourself succumb to anger. A heartwarming thing is that Kale and the rest clearly don't want to use the Flame, and want it to disappear, in essence confirming the fact that they did not, in fact, worship it before Shabriri slandered them; if they ever revered it at all. Kale speaks of the tomb (The Proscription) as if he has been there before and heard the lullaby. The Great Caravan lore seems so much more interesting than what we actually got in the final release...

I love this too! It's so interesting. The parasite-like nature of the Frenzied Flame would explain the villages of people afflicted by the flame 'burning within them', poor, helpless citizens of a broken land that have reached their limit, as well as both Kale and Yura's stories. Kale refers here to the curse of the Flame like an infection: "The cursed flame burns behind our eyelids", a line that ties neatly to some cut dialogue by Yura that attests to the same: "The worm-like writhing that has long plagued the back of my eyes is spreading - to my brain... and heart". We even get a snippet of it in the final game, where a battle-tired Yura hisses "Wretched worms, leave me be!" after we help him with the second Bloody Finger. The Flame is a parasite that feeds on despair and suffering. Yura has long been searching for Eleanora, living in despair at the degradation of a woman he loved, making him a perfect host for the curse and eventual vessel of Shabriri when he dies having been unable to save her. Kale and his surviving brothers, who in this context were trapped along with their kin in the subterranian grounds but were somehow able to escape, are so haunted and broken by what they experienced that the Flame infected them too - in a bid to complete what it ultimately did to the victims, blending them together in both mind and body. Strong emotions born from suffering , such as anger, seems to increase the hold of the curse upon them, something which both Yura and Kale are aware of (Yura states that he is running out of time, that the curse is spreading, and here Kale talks about how anger progresses the curse's unifying effect and makes them forget their individual selves. The fact that the merchants choose to live separately despite longing for the days of the Great Caravan becomes even more tragic. It's not just because they fear being rounded up and taken back to the tomb to die, but being mentally/emotionally linked with one another means that physical distance is the only way they can be separate. Maybe physical distance lessens the intensity of the psychic link, or it's simply less maddening to hear thoughts and feel feelings of someone else from far away than right beside you. So as much as they want to be with each other, for their own sanity they just can't. DAMNIT WHY WAS THIS CUT?! Obviously, Kale's knowledge of the shunning grounds and the proscription would do away with that cut questline where we help him discover the place, so all this dialogue probably predates that plan. Still, I honestly find it more interesting and still emotionally heartfelt. The man just wants to live in peace but he can't. It feels like this dialogue came with a questline that led us to fight the god of Frenzied Flame as we do the Elden Beast, to relinquish its hold on the Lands Between and its people (finally, a happy ending for someone!!). Maybe at that time there were plans for multiple Outer Gods to be faced and felled. DLC??

It sounds like Kale and the nomadic merchants questline might have changed multiple times during development. One version was with Kale being locked up alongside them underground, and another with him trying to find the Great Caravan and what happened to them. But both were eventually cut.

Yeah they really did a disservice to the fascinating lore and world they’d created. Doubly so after DLC.

When kale says that anger is melting the lines between them and taking away his memories and things it reminds me of the undead curse

He seems a lot creepier in this version. Like he's a completely different person.

So just to clear this up, this man has had 2 entirely different quest lines cut from the game? Cause you've got the Dream Mist quest and also the quest line where he searches for the Great Caravan.

Someone could maybe help me out with this, but I swear I heard a cut dialogue line that only activates if you were to attack Kalé right after his speech for finding the merchants; and it's byfar the most haunting line from any character. Something along the lines of, "Oh, I see; another plunderer come to attack my people. Mark my words, your kind; will be razed clean." As a sidenote: I can't help but make the assumption that the merchants were inspired by native american tribes, especially the part where you, quite literally; go into their tomb.

I think this might be the best voice acting in the game. Such an underrated performance. I would be depressed if my content was deleted like this after delivering such a nice performance.

Yeah they cut so much from Kale when his actor is trying so hard. It’s really unfortunate
