Loved when Todd said you can of course play 76 solo like you can all of their games and how that's important to them, and everyone cheered louder than when he said it was going to be a multiplayer game. Then later in a interview he was asked "can I play offline" and his response was "No, you can play solo but you can still run across other players." Todd you sly dog, never change, he's killing this 10 CHA run he's doing through life.

Yep, playing in a group in 76 is optional, about the same as using guns in fallout 4 is or saving the game. It's all technically optional.

Imperator Phil question is will they use the terrain models of ESO if its in an area that game has covered? I suspect TES6 is in Hammerfell because ESO has largely not gone there. The fast horse speed in ESO has ruined the sense of scale of the franchise, will be interesting to see how theg manage this and explain away massive differences and holes in the lore again.

@@Enel97 In Arteaum, there is a mystical pool that the Psijics have in their home base. It can be used to open portals to anywhere, and not even they know about all the destinations. I haven't completed the story- a friend helped me move to a new setup and I had to start over, but I know they used it to circumvent Naemira's attempt to lock them out of her realm, in a way that not even she could block or be aware of. I don't know if they reveal it can be a multiverse later.

I'd say it would depend on whether or not Fallout 76 is still being catered to by the time TES VI comes out. If its still doing well, the the BGS Austin former Battlecry Studios will still be keeping that game alive, and the Maryland team will most likely be working on Fallout 5 or Starfield 2 after TES VI releases, so not much room to keep it afloat like a live service. If Fallout 76 has died by the time that Starfield has released... well the Austin Studios will need to do something, and we will be in for a rough TES VI

Some very good points. I too thought it was a brilliant marketing move but may come back to haunt them if indeed several years go by and there is a 10+ year gap of hype and speculation before TES 6 comes out. I think rabid fandom just leads to unearned and blind advocacy but also to disappointment, too. I waited for games like Deus Ex: HR and Alan Wake for many, many years before actually getting my hands on them and by that time, nothing would meet your expectations.

Everybody knows there will be another elder scrolls so even without an announcement there may be more speculation and hype. And I think they announced starfield early because it is a new ip and it needs more time to garner hype they can't just announce it 6 months before its release.
@andrewlinn7863
@andrewlinn7863 6 жыл бұрын
+Indigo Gaming +Review God USA In order to prevent as much speculation as possible, assure people that the game will be released, and prevent doubt & speculation about whether the game even will be released, the TEASER trailers are what they chose. No footage of gameplay for viewers to create false standards off of, only what amounts to advertisements for the two future games. Bethesda made a good move by making these announcements.
@duncanlutz3698
@duncanlutz3698 4 жыл бұрын
We are already seeing this. By announcing the games so early, fans were expecting the games to come out much earlier than BGS intended. I don't think Starfield will launch until 2022 or early 2023, but many still think a Starfield trailer is imminent, was going to be at E3, and that Starfield will be in our hands by the end of 2020. Which of course means TES:VI will be 3-4 years after that. I really hate to do this, but It made me sympathize with that snake Pete Hines a bit. People were under the impression that Starfield was imminent, and desperate for updates. So the more time drags on, the more that hype will go toxic. I expect the short-term gains of this PR stunt to come back and bite them in the keister.

+Grym If that indeed was a candid "Todd" moment, I can't say I completely blame the guy. The man, as well as the large team he directs, have spent a good part of their lives and an insane amount of effort to create each little detail of all of their open world games. They must QA test out the ass, and have dedicated people working to fix the common bugs that new additions add. It's a justified frustration, but ultimately, Todd and the team need to accept that their games do release with some major issues and, in many cases, need a lot of patching after the fact(especially since their move to GameBryo). Not just as a PR move, but as an understood and expected part of their game development process. Todd and co are great game designers and artists. Their games are excellent, but once in a while you gotta realize that they can't be perfect. Fallout 3 doesn't really have 200 different endings, you can't climb every mountain in Skyrim's map, Radiant AI is more often than not awkward and clunky, and Bethesda Open World games have bugs. The facts of life, man.
@stardust_2339

Melody Anonymous I don't care what Todd feels when I pay just as much for his product as for others' then they don't even properly patch their games. I can live with bugs at release but when fans do your job for free then the least you can do is to acknowledge it. Especially when you re-release the exact same game again with the same bugs.
@gucciguy3408
@gucciguy3408 6 жыл бұрын
Melody Anonymous Yea...Skyrim has so many bugs still and they haven't fixed them after all this patching. I would be willing to give them some slack,but many of them are major. Like bug crashes,The whole Mage guild quest being stopped by a bug,Hearthfire bugs for paid DLC and many more bad ones. These aren't minor and can be fixed by mods,but it shows how little they care after release of the game because you can be sure by how major these issues are they would've reached the dev team at some point.

LuMardy No bad blood on my end. I’m not going to be apologetic over being excited for the reveal of Starfield/ES6 because these are titles my community and I have speculated about for years. I’ve been critical of them when I felt they’ve been wrong since my very big mistake, which was noted in this video, and sadly it took that mistake to see the error of my ways. I don’t regret it since my community has responded well to my approach these past few years and it serves to me as a reminder of what can happen when you get too wrapped up. Once again, no bad blood (on my end) and this video kept getting sent to me so I felt a response was required. I’ve seen Zaric’s content before, I’ve enjoyed them, and will continue to enjoy them despite his thoughts on me. Take care 👍🏻

You know what's really positive about all this? If the PR at BethSoft and people at Bethesda Game Studios, including Todd Howard, are able to recognize the memes and bad PR, and overall expectations for their games, they might NOT streamline and dumb down their games even more. Maybe they even reverse this process and put more RPG elements back in TESVI and Fallout 5. Like classes, attributes, etc. We will see eventually.

You know, I used to think that games were no big deal... Until I joined a game design class. Various codes were actually pretty easy however that doesn't mean putting it together in a language was easy... I have a lot more respect for game developers. But with big teams and companies there is still no excuse in my eyes to publish half ass work.

You are right Zaric. Todd Howard didn't look comfortable on stage at E3, and he didn't look comfortable nor enthusiastic in the interviews he gave in the following days at E3. He had to give up his idea of not announcing games until they are ready to be shown, whether it was on his own accord, or he was told to. I believe he even admitted or at least acknowledged in a Gamespot interview that handling things like he did at BethSoft's E3 conference was not 100% like he wanted it to be. So, yeah, damage control essentially.

I always felt the reason they announced Starfield and TES6 was more to do with they didn't want the huge backlash they knew the'yd get from Fallout 76 being multiplayer online, like announcing Starfield and TES6 when they have nothing at all to show seems more like a way of saying "Believe us guys, we're not gonna go all EA and microtransaction multiplayer all the time" etc Although its clear Starfield and TES6 are bound to have Creation Club content and I bet they'll try shove multiplayer into Starfield somehow.

Lorebeards literally spend hours and days studying, interpretation, discussing and doing deeper research into TES lore which might include things like quantum mechanics or physics cause of the way TES lore works and a lot of is pseudo psychedelic quantum mechanic weird bullshit (atleast what MK wrote) i fucken love it though lol, and seems like zaric does too though he seems more interested in the fantasy part, the deeper lore is what interests me mostly. i already knew that the trailer was just a "temporary" thing and they showed it just to keep the hope and hypes up meaning that TES:6 could be set anywhere in tamriel, all of the other video speculating that hammerfell or highrock will be the next province to take place in TES:6 need to calm down a bit, i mean if you search it now there are dozen of video theorizing that the next TES:6 is set in hammerfell or highrock, which if according to the trailer is a huge possibility. but people also need to know that all of the thing from teaser is just "temporary"/ artwork like you said Zaric, meaning that it could be just everywhere (expect for blackmarsh and elsywere since i think behtesda will have a hell of a time figuring out the culture and religion for that province and they rather take the series to be more familiar and easy to digest for the newer TES player or fans)

Bethesda's display was painfully bad. Todd's attempt at standup and that Skyrim Alexa Commercial were both super cringy. That diversity video they made us all watch at the beginning almost made me sick. The amount of times developers at E3 praised diversity as a strength was disgusting. "Hey guys we have less white people and less men in important roles" is not a selling point for me.
@Bmetalful
@Bmetalful 6 жыл бұрын
Imperator Phil Slapping white men in the face is the new normal. They over use the word diversity (which means less white people and men, they aren't fooling anyone), to the couple in the Alexa skit being interracial with a black man claiming the pretty white woman, to half the characters in games being gay, and placing females in almost every male role. Isn't it funny that in a scene that was created, grown, and supported by white males, we are now the ones to be shamed and slowly pushed out of it figuratively. If you notice how Poland, Russia, Japan and other non-cucked countries make games it's very different. The main characters in their games are always strong men of their own heritage. And don't get me wrong, there is plenty of room for Lara Croft and Aloy and other great female characters, but when you start injecting diversity into things just for the sake of it, it leaves a real sour taste in our mouths.
@Bmetalful
@Bmetalful 6 жыл бұрын
+Josh You're using a very typical argument by generalizing everything I said to make me look like some kind of white supremacist which I am not. Obviously games in which you design your own character my claim wouldn't apply, so Elder Scrolls and Fallout are exceptions. My claims come in when you see a repeating pattern that stems from an obvious agenda to ruin the nuclear family and shame the white men of America. I have no qualms with interracial marriage or black lead characters, or women as leads. But it's not happening organically, it's forced, and it's very noticeable if you pay any kind of attention to it. Just a few examples from E3 and recent news, although there are many many more. Alexa interracial commercial, black couple plays switch against white couple and beats them in E3 commercial, Ellie from TLOU is a lesbian (yes I know we knew before E3), the testosterone fueled Gears of War franchise now has a female lead, Kingdom Come Deliverance got called out for not having racial diversity and they actually had to explain history and realism to the public, every company inserted a speech or informative video about how diversity is their most important strength and how we are all different people from all different walks of life. Continuing... Battlefield 5 has a female protagonist with a disability in a game based on the real history of WW2, Wolfenstein is now 2 women leads that came out of nowhere to fight Nazi's with girl power,. One thing to consider in all of this is that the U.S. is still about 63% White, and most games based on a character with brute strength would naturally feature a male. Most people aren't gay. So why do we currently have a gaming market that over represents minorities in it's lead roles? Do you think it's just a coincidence? Why is the Hulk now a Korean boy in the comics, why is Iron Man now a little black girl, why did the fearsome Colossus from X-men suddenly realize that he's a homosexual? Again, these things wouldn't bother me if they had representation even somewhat close to their real life representation, which is a very small percentage. But somehow the minorities are the majority in the gaming world, and at the very least you could agree that it's suspicious, right?
@CC42_

Bmetalful you must be a sexist, racist, immature bigot! Lol. Jk ..I'm so tired of this obvious forced agenda and people who can't see that people are sick of gaming companies being transparent and forcing diversity down the throat of every game, advertisement, etc As eell as the 90% of journalists who write "grow up white men, you just can't handle seeing a woman in your battlefield" articles every week.

In the last couple of years, as someone who has a past in sales and thus loves to observe these dynamics, i've really noticed a huge increment in the way many companies Bethesda/Zenimax included are approaching the public; they really seem to understand that portraing themselves as "humans just as you" is an incredibly powerful tool, and the psychology behind this is very interesting: for generations the common way of portaying someone's business, when it came to publicity, was to make you and your product look "completely flawless, the absolute best you can get, totally immaculate" ; and while this approach may still work with older people, products aimed at people that are under 30-40 years old really changed in the way they are marketed. The public consciousness has shifted..the motivations behind it are numerous; but to make it short if little time ago the aforementioned way of talking of your product was the overall most effective way, now companies rely more on a mixture of "appearing professional" + "appearing human, with flaws that we really try to fix" and it really seems to work.

jase276 Fallout 4 was as much of an RPG as The Witcher 3 was, albeit The Witcher 3 was a better game, Both were dumbed down yet people hail The Witcher 3 as a great RPG. I don't really see a problem with these games unlike you, the RPG systems in Fallout 3 and Morrowind were wacky asf. people forget that the concept of RPG is sufficiently met in ANY Game, Skyrim had plenty good of it. I had played the 2 Baldur's gates, Planescape torment, the original fallouts, the Divinity original sins series, and while all these games are considered "True RPGS" It is only because of one thing really, Turn Based Combat. you can't have those systems in real time video games.

MF Doom I think it's just making a full immersive massive world where each choice matters who be hell to program. I think the closest thing to get it right at least the closet thing I have played was Fall out Newvegas. The game just gives you many ways to complete quests as well as multiple endings.
@mfdoom4467

cooler gman That's exactly what I meant to convey in my conclusion, Honestly that's the best way of looking at what defines an RPG, most people think that what defines an RPG is turn-based combat and useless skills like "explosives" or some other crap when it is actually real choices and consequences, neither of which The Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 had except Fallout 4 actually had Multiple "REAL" endings where you could see the consequences of your actions.

I disagree about the release of Starfield they showed us the trailer just like they did with Skyrim in 2010 and it released the next year. Therefore I think that Starfield will release next year and since they did confirm in an interview with Todd Howard that multiple studios work on the same project at once and since they now have ever increasing man power I think it is reasonable to assume that Elder Scrolls VI will be a 2020 release. Keep up the good work Zaric I am a huge fan of the work that you do here on the channel!

You weren't surprised by them announcing - or "acknowledging" - Starfield and TES6? You even said it yourself, Bethesda has been very adamant about not announcing titles until right before release. Most speculation have these games at least 3 years from release, so why wouldn't it surprise you when they announced them so far out from release? We all were fairly certain they were working on Starfield and we were all positive they were working on TES6, so the titles them self weren't surprising, but the timing was.

Yeah I watched the noclip documentary, and I'm sure that the Montreal Studio will be working on Starfield to some degree, but that studio is the one that is mainly focused on making mobile games. Theres no way in hell that they're not going to make another one to coincide with Starfields release. Whether thats a TES title, a Starfield title, or a Fallout title, I couldn't say. But since Fallout Shelter had more players than every single one of their games combined, they're going to be making another one after the lifespan of Blades has run its course.

@billywingrove27

Zaric its seems you have not seen that interview that Todd did a few months ago. It was the game maker notebook or something. Todd said how they work on game. A small part of the team works on the next next game, while most of the team works on their current project. And when they release this full project and go to the next project, they alrady have the groundwork for it. At an interview at this E3, Todd said that they will not support Fallout 76 post release, they will hand the game to the Battelcry studio and they will do all the dlc and updates. From what we have seen its seems that the game is ready and i can say for sure that Starfield is worked right now by Todd and his team. He look tired on stage because they are probably in the middle of development of Starfield and they are wasting his time. Starfield is a 2019 game release. At E3 2019 we will see gameplay of startfield and a release date of November the same year. Todd said that they have been working on Starfield since 2014. The game is nearly done at this point. And from my observation I can say that Elder Scrolls 6 has been in development since 2016. Todd never shows gameplay of their games if the game is not fully done. You get what you see from the gameplay with no changes, except bug fixes in the day 1 patch. Point isI belive from how Todd and his team work that Elder Scrolls 6 will release in 2020. It will be annouced at E3 2020 with some gameplay and then with a release date the same year. Todd always lies. Bethesda said that their next 2 game will not be Fallout or Elder Scrolls ...... but what do we get now ? Thats right their next game is Fallout 76. SO do not believe them when they say the Starfield and Edler Scrolls 6 are ways off. You probably wont believe me but I just had to give my 2 cents. I love when Todd tells me little lies but from those lies I can get an understanding of the situation in their studio.

Rafiq Animated I was thinking Daggerfall, since the combat would translate to swipes and taps quite easily. You could already play the whole game with a mouse, just update/improve the interface and it would be quite enjoyable. Morrowind is smooth with keyboards and controllers, idk how you'd translate at without mimicking Daggerfall or Arena.

Alex Hodgkinson That depends on your conception of sci-fi. Naturally, most post-apocalyptic settings will include elements of advanced technology, such as lasers. However, sci-fi is usually set at the height of civilization where such technology is more widespread. Before the apocalypse, basically. But once again, it does depend on your conception of sci-fi.
@alexhodgkinson6718
@alexhodgkinson6718 6 жыл бұрын
John Angus just from the fact that it's set in a different universe where humanity went down a different path with cryogenic chambers and energy rifles and the like puts it under the sci fi genre. Take something like Mad Max. That's post apocalypse and western. Not sci fi. I don't actually see post apocalyptic as a genre. It very loose. Anything that's post apocalyptic falls under other genres. But even with this being the case, everything falls under multiple genres now anyway. Nothings just clear cut one genre. Fallout depends on the title. 3 was a sci fi post apocalyptic western for the most part. 4 drops the western but Far Harbor is a sci fi post apocalyptic neo noir.

That re releasing skyrim joke was honestly great! However I hate how people are excited about fallout 76. We probably would of got es6 by now or at least it would be in production if it weren't for eso and putting skyrim on every console imaginable. If fallout 76 is a blockbuster (which I highly doubt it's lifespan surpasses two months) I can see them putting off fallout 5 until they have to. Like they did with es6 because why work on an rpg when you can put out an mmo and mobile games!

And I completely understand why you aren't going to break apart the Elder Scrolls VI teaser. There probably isn't much to go off of, and it's still at least a few years away. Been waiting to hear your thoughts on what went down at e3. I think your spot on as usual. Also i think with the news fallout 76 is entirely online with no NPCs BGS had to let the fans understand they still were focused on single player games. Along with they needed to take all the rabid fans minds off the the fact that they could of been developing StarField and TES6, devoting more manpower and time to those projects instead of trying to cash in on the battle royale type games that are trending in the industry. Still pretty insane BGS had those ads about saving Player 1 while developing a game that eliminates the single player style for a small mmo with the option to do things solo.

Now FO4, I for one do not regret purchasing it. FO4 has many different aspects that make it very entertaining. I can mod as I want, and play it as I wish. That's what I at least expect with ES6, and hopefully the story telling/lore are more enthralling than before. That's what makes Elder Scrolls what it is after all right?
