@@TheOriginalJphyper Except there is plentiful lore that supports the existing theory that the Battle of Red Mountain saw the Dwemer become one with the Brass God they were building. They got CHIM'd out of existence. They no longer exist. Do some actual research before you look like an idiot.

Idk about non-confrontational because they fought a LOT.. They went to war with the dunmer (Aetherium Wars, War of the First Council which lead to Battle of the Red Mountain), Atmorans (War of the Crag, and War of Succession), and chimer who would become enslaved by the dwemer as during the War of the Crag, then there was the Battle of Rourken-Shalidor. Not sure if I forgot anything but they basically fought with everyone in the same region of Tamriel.

They live under Tamriel I believe they have just went so deep into the ruins no one can follow them

I believe the main theory for them vanishing is that Tamriel is really the dream of the Godhead. The Dwemer became aware of this and used their technologies to wake up from his dream. Therefore vanishing from what everyone else perceives as existence.

it's implied that the actual cities were much much deeper underground and basically inaccessible now, so what we see in the games is just like access tunnels and outposts and stuff. there's a book talking about what sounds like a more substantial city and it was only accessible because coastal erosion revealed it at the bottom of a cliff face

It's one of my favorite topics especially in Morrowind. You actually get to meet the one and only surviving dwemmer with robotic spider legs. Also you can see there dust piles that you can search through. There's even a lesbian reference with them diapering.

I wouldn’t say modern, they don’t have full blown modern technology(more steampunk fantasy technology) and iirc they put a lot of magic into their designs.
