The Bretons aren't apart of the Forsworn or the Reachmen in general. The Reachmen are there own separate race; they are inbreeds of Nords, Nedes, and Bretons. The Reachmen don't want just Nords out of the Reach, but Bretons as well.

Damn, I'll admit this changed me. For the longest time I've butchered the forsworn like cattle, mainly for getting in my way, but now I outright pity them. Theirs was a unique culture and homeland that they themselves have now been cast out of. It also further reinforces my belief that ulfric stormcloak is a hypocrite. He fights for the preservation of nord culture, but only HIS nord culture. He murdered and cast out the forsworn in the belief that all of skyrim belonged to talos-worshipping Nords despite the existence of another native culture. He acts just like the aldmeri dominion he so greatly despises, a revolutionary turned tyrant. Impressive how accurately Bethesda has written the nuances of human history into the elder scrolls lore. It makes it feel all the more real. But I'm just a rambling old argonian, whoever listens to me? *sips mead*

The King of the Penguins The Atmorans/Nords the first humans to settle in tamriel thus the forsworn's only reason is out of the window also the orcs were there even before the nords came from atmora but lorkhan did create the humans/nords on the throat of the world
@ElongatedVowels9 жыл бұрын
Yousof Abu Suliman Except the Atmorans are not the same race as Nords. Atmorans are the ancestors of all humans in Tamriel except for the Redguards. Thus the Bretons and Nords are both descended from the Atmorans, only the Bretons have a little elf blood mixed in. The Atmorans who settled in High Rock and Western Skyrim (the Reach) interbred with the native elves and became the Bretons. The Atmorans who settled in the rest of Skyrim wiped out the Snow Elves and became the Nords. So yes, the Bretons are natives of the Reach, and were there well before the Nords.
@يوسفسلامة-ف4ع9 жыл бұрын
ElongatedVowels Your evidence I've always though that the group that built sarthal were the first from atmora plus the orcs were definitely there before the bretons
@krissuyx9 жыл бұрын
+The King of the Penguins In truth, both Stormcloaks and Forsworn are very similar. Ulfric: "Skyrim belongs to the nords." Forsworn: "The Reach belongs to the Forsworn." They both fight for something that they've lost or fear losing. The biggest difference is that Stormcloaks don't automatically murder anyone who isn't a Nord but the Forsworn do. The Forsworn are vengeful murderers and Stormcloaks are bigoted racists.
@r0h44n9 жыл бұрын
+The King of the Penguins Took the words right out of my mouth. I was quite willing to join the Stormcloaks until I heard Madanach's story. Ulfric didn't have his rebellion back then but his only condition to massacre the Forsworn was that Igmund would enforce Talos worship in Markarth. The Forsworn were driven from their ancestral land and pretty much forced out of worship of their deities. EXACTLY what Ulfric was fighting AGAINST the Aldmeri for.

Not to mention they also have the 'Forgotten' Vale (forgotten by Nords, indeed), which is still part of Skyrim. I think Winterhold & the Pale are the perfect Holds to allow Falmer to live independently on the surface of Skyrim. Since the College of Winterhold is neutral ground, Falmer mage-apprentices could be allowed to send some there to not only learn...but introduce the resident mages to the Falmer's ancient Dawn magics. :D

i see way too many people sympathizing with the Forsworn in the comments. yeah, it sucks that their land was taken over, but so was every other land at one point or another. you might see racism here or there, but you don't see groups outright murdering anyone who isn't their race. let me clarify something for you guys: the Forsworn do not represent the whole of the Reachmen. the Forsworn are a group OF Reachmen who refuse to live peacefully with anyone else. they are the aggressors, not the victims. the Reachmen had been living peacefully within Skyrim for many hundreds of years before any of this, and then they (the group calling themselves the Forsworn) lashed out and brought retribution upon themselves. when Red Eagle was fighting all those years ago, most of the other Reachmen leaders had agreed to surrender and live peacefully within the Empire. they're throwing a hissy fit over things that they themselves have no memory of, things that happened hundreds of years ago, like spoiled children crying over a toy they never had to begin with. and then not understanding why the paddle came out. the Reachmen may be the rightful rulers of the Reach in a sense, but that in no way justifies the actions taken by the group of radicals within the Reachmen who call themselves the Forsworn. that's all the 'Forsworn' are. murderous radicals who refuse to coexist. and they deserve every swing of my Dragonborn's sword, and every word of my Dragonborn's thu'um. if everyone acted like the Forsworn do over every sad story, there'd be no mortals left on Nirn.
@Gabdube8 жыл бұрын
+Midnight Shamalan If anything, they merely have a slightly better claim to the lands of the Reach than the nords do. Humans were far from being the first to settle there. Hell, the Reach should probably belong to giants, unless the "giant atmorans" theory is somehow the true story.

Forsworn is really the only race of people I hate in TES. I would very much describe them as savages. I understand they want their home back, but the fact remains that they kidnap people and sacrifice them to their Gods(who I believe are the Daedra)Anyone is fair game for them, even children.

***** I know, but I don't believe any Breton wants to claim them.
@VaeSapiens10 жыл бұрын
***** they are a different race. Their origin is described as a mix of Nord, Breton and Orsimer ancestry. They are bretons only in Skyrim (game mechanics).
@VaeSapiens10 жыл бұрын
***** Firstly. Comparing TES phylogeny to ours is wrong in the first place. In TES race is inherited from the mother's side. The Bretons are an exception of this rule because they were a subject of genetic experiments conducted by the Dirrenis on the Nedic people who came to High Rock (The Direnni Hegemony at that time) New books from TES:O also describe them as a different race (to which both the Reachmen and the Bretons agree) Edit: Also we must specify what the term "race" means. In our world the term is meaningless because there are no subspecies of humans. Applying the term subspecies to TES we are going to get 2 subspecies of "humans" : Mer and Men. What we call race in TES is based on cultural, geographical location and ethnicity. So we can say that the Reachmen are different enough from bretons to not call them that.
@Tlevids10 жыл бұрын
The race is the 'reachmen' who are a mix of different influences: they are cousins of bretons but not identical. Forsworn are a faction of reachmen founded after Markarth was seized by Ulfric's militia: most reachmen are poorly paid labourers in Markarth: though they are indigenous, the nords now own all the land and control it politically: there is only one reachman landowner left (at Karthwasten), and he is being bullied by the Silverblood family (stormcloak supporters) into yielding his land to them. When your culture is being persecuted, undermined and destroyed while your people are living under the boot of another race that is colonising and exploiting your land, wouldn't you brutally fight against that when there is literally no other way of facilitating change? My personal view is that the Empire should go in after the thalmor are defeated and boot the nords out allowing a peaceful transition to reachman rule (which would prevent further violence). But as that doesn't seem to be happening, fighting is the only option.
@Darkblender510 жыл бұрын
Tlevids Except they attack everyone. Even innocents just strolling by the road are dead if they catch. I remember a quest where you had to save a little girl from one of the Forsworn camps. If you're gonna kidnap and murder children not even old enough to know why the Forsworn exist then I don't think you deserve your land back.

John McCall well the reachmen, aren't really Bretons. from an ethnic standpoint they are very closely related but from a cultural standpoint they are very different. Bretons in the reach are often offended if they are thought of as reachmen (dark brotherhood quest line). and the nords don't think very poorly of them, atleast not nearly like they think of the reachmen

You can live with one tribe of forsworn but nothing happens after that. They just keep saying "the reach will be ours again" -_- so i killed them with great annoyence

I wish there was a mod that would allow you to join the Forsworn and have them succeed against both Ulfric and the Empire.
@Gabdube8 жыл бұрын
+Darris Hawks There is more than one, actually. I'm pretty sure they're still riddled with bugs though. None of those were under sustained development AFAIK. You'll also have to manually make them compatible with USLEEP if they were made back when USKP was still the norm.

I wish Bethesda would've had it where you had the option to side with the Forsworn and help conquer Markarth leaving Madanach as ruler of Markarth.
@Milos111Zivkov10 жыл бұрын
Enter player: Gets drunk, end up in Markath temple and without any knowledge of Forsworn and their cause you accidently aid them in a prison break where they at the end destroy entire Markath and their citizens. Just because you got drunk with Sanguine. Then you load back. :D

You should definitely keep this style for your videos. All your video are exciting and a pleasure to watch! Expecially them Fallout videos too! Hoping for more of Lore from all the myths and books of Elder Scrolls and Fallout! Have a great weekend and great job you guys!

Many factual inaccuracies here: the forsworn are reachmen and not bretons: they are cousins of the bretons who have been influenced also by the orcs and nords and have developed a unique culture as a result. Secondly, there is no evidence that they drove all the nords from Markarth: the only evidence that we have on this matter suggests that only the most brutal nord landowners as well as the Jarl were executed. The Jarl's son Igmund for instance wasn't killed despite being nord royalty. Finally, they don't wage war against 'nords and non-bretons' but rather anyone who supports the nord occupiers (which is why they tend to target merchants who fund the growth of the nord state in the Reach): one of their members for instance is an orc.

One of the people who composed Talos was a witchman, a forsworn. Read Arcturian Heresy, and the enantiomorph concept in the lore (King/Rebel/Witness).
@VaeSapiens10 жыл бұрын
William R. Farge nope. Hjalti was either a breton born in a nord family (Early-Beard) or a nord. No one knows what race was Zurin Arctus (maybe imperial as arctus is a latin word for "short" or maybe he just adopted this name to sound more imperial-ish as Hjalti adopted the name Tiber Septim) . And Wulfharth was a nord/atmoran/lich/undead something.

Started a new game not too long ago. I'm lvl 38. I was sent to Lost Valley Redoubt (1st time in ANY play through) to get the Word Wall...(bleep)ing Forsworn wore me out! You know it's bad when you start checking your armor rating. Basically, I was looking for every bit of help I could find. Ran (to be read full sprint) away multiple times, went back to my house made poisons, got some healing potions and smithed some armor still got stomped. I could only get off 1/2 sneak attacks before being spotted so I ended up running to the word wall (with ALL the Forsworn chasing) got the word...the Forsworn and Hagravens got tangled up trying to kill me and I ran away again...I shamed the name of the Dov. I swore (after I fast traveled away) that I would return to LVR and KILL EVERY (bleep)ing FORSWORN THERE...when I get stronger...
