I see so many plants that looks like this I can't tell the difference. The other day I came across one that smell. Maybe you should do a video with different ones. Glad I found this

How to distinguish black elderflower tree from the rest? Here, in Scotland, I just found a treasure of elderflower trees, and back in Serbia we used to make syrup (to delute with water or sparkling water) out of it but I can't say if these here are the same one. I'd tell the flower here is not as big as the one we used back home. So maybe it's not the right kind. It would be exciting to make it again as when I was a kid.

You really need to do a recipe book. I’d love to see one from you guys. x

Is there a noticeable difference in the flowers between this and common hogweed (Heracleum sphondylium)?

When you say purple elder is toxic and only to pick from the black elder, are the two easily confused?

If the bark is fairly smooth with dark speckles then its Sambucas Nigra and safe, if the stems have horizontal ribs running the lenght of the stems it should not be consumed.

how do you identify the poisonous type from the non-poisonous one?
@WildFoodUK14 жыл бұрын
all the elders are poisonous, but all the flowers and berries are usable if prepared properly.

@@WildFoodUK1 Can you elaborate on this? In the video you say the black elder is the only safe one, and the other elders have "cyanide-inducing glycosides." Have I misunderstood? Because from that I would think only black elder flowers are safe, and thus I'd need to know how to ID black elder.
