The bamboo-looking stuff isn't bamboo. It's a cousin plant called knotweed or Japanese knotweed. Similar properties to bamboo: invasive, FAST growing stuff, and can and WILL spread to wherever it wants unless you stay on top of it. Even if you dig out the roots, they tend to come back twice as hard. REALLY hard to get rid of once it establishes itself.

My grandpa lost one of his arms at age 3. That man could cut wood with an axe as well as a 2 armed man could. He also could handle a walk-behind plow pulled by a mule as well as a 2 armed person. He could do a lot with that one arm...so yea the man could have mowed his yard with just the one arm. And if he is 55 and up, he is considered elderly in most places. You don't know what someone or even yourself is capable of doing till you have to do it.
