That would suck to be Sloan. Of course his overprotective emotions if acted upon would have killed her, but his lack of mental strength to quell these emotions from his past trauma allowed irrational beliefs to brainwash his mind. From his perspective, Roran showed actions that disobeyed every possible thing that a possible son-in-law could be. And then Roran had the audacity to assume ownership over his own daughter, and then just to top it all off, even katrina wouldn't obey him. And because he was so brainwashed into that mental state, he finally snapped because he "knew" that he was right but yet his own daughter who he thought he knew, believed Roran instead. This causes him to completely snap as he can't even begin to wrap his head around the possibility that he was wrong, and instead likely gets a PTSD induced flashback to the thing that weakend his mental health the most- the death of his wife. And now he probably will develop the irrational belief that Roran is now sending his daughter (his only tie to the thing he first loved most in this world) to her death in order to evade sifting out the truth-and the pain that comes with it- because that is far easier for his mind to bear. Morale of the story: don't allow your mental health to degrade so much that you allow yourself to be ruled by your emotions. Always address any trauma you face slowly if needed and lay it to rest (Anything that you can remember from 6 or more months that brings back lots of emotion is something that you haven't moved on with), it is certainly painful to confront trauma and expose the truth. But the truth hurts... Before it heals.
