Eldrazi Incursion Upgrade - Improving the Precon Commander Deck with $100

I hear you say you don't get the cast trigger again with Ulalek because the copy isn't cast. However, you do still get the extra trigger; it just isn't from the copy. Part of Ulalek's ability is "copy all activated and triggered abilities you control." Well, "when you cast this spell" is a trigger, per the keyword "when." It is on the stack in that moment of activating Ulalek.

16:52. It doesn't matter that you don't cast the copy, you still get 8 taps since you're copying the trigger too. It can be good to use in the endstep of the turn before yours to tap someones whole board down and prevent blocking. Another use for this is to basically take a turn away from someone by tapping 8 of their lands in their upkeep, though that's pretty niche. That being said, yeah I agree with it not being in the deck

Im curious as to why no one is suggesting Prgenitor's Icon for this deck. It can tap for any color which is nice in this pseudo rainbow deck and it's ability to let you cast eldrazi creatures at instant speed will let you flash in eldrazis during things like attack triggers so you can double them with said triggers with Umalek!

Because flashing in 7 mana creature means your holding up 7 mana. That's not very good. Also most of the decks is still cooler less or wastes. If you look at the actual deck list you'd see that you don't require a ton of colored mana.

Almost every spell in the deck has a larger "any mana" cost than colorless so it's fine to have a color rock, and just cause you're casting at flash speed doesn't mean you need to hold up any mana. Just cast the spell on your turn, but during an attack trigger or something to make full use of Ulalek's copy.

​@@NekoSaucebut you can double all the scions and spawn use them to flash your 7 cost. But I agree I think people are over hyping the flash in this. It's allot of hoops to jump through when you can go for on cast triggers like up the beanstalk and monstrous vortex. But I'm not the greatest player so maybe I'm just talking crazy!

Doesn’t Ulalek copy the cast triggers too? So elder deep fiend would tap 8 permanents if I paid the two colorless from ulalek. I thought it was weird why Ulalek had the wall of text, but the cast triggers make sense that it’s doubled through Ulalek

Yes this is true - You copy the "trigger" ability too - so Yes you will exile 2x4 cards with Oblivion Sower. On top of that he can take lands that people exile them self etc. - its not amazing, and for sure its not bad idea to CUT it - but its not that bad, so You can easly keep it in, if You prefer it (i would say even better if you have more "big" Eldrazy so the 10+ mana is more importent).

Sorry man it doesn’t work that way, when your copying the spell you don’t get an additional cast trigger because although you copied the spell itself you didn’t do an additional casting to re trigger the casting ability

@@loganwesley9629 But ulalake copy the triggers too. This is Why you get them ;) Yes you will not get "extra" from the copy the spell, but You will copy the tirggers too - so its pretty much work, like you would cast them 2nd time ;)

You guys HAVE to make an upgrade guide with no money restriction for this deck. There’s just too many great cards you can add since it is 5 color and I think a TON of people would like to see it.

Agree! I got lucky and pulled an extra of each of the three eldrazi titans from MH3 pack and have a leftover Ulamog infinite. Would love to see what they could do without restrictions and being able to add cards like those into the deck.

Darksteel Monolith paired with something like Skittering Cicada or Liberator, Urza's Battlethopter is just crazy good. You can cast your colorless spells for free, even in your opponents turns.

You do tap 8, not 4 with elder deep fiend if you pay for the ulalek trigger because you will also copy the cast trigger on the stack assuming you order your triggers correctly. Not saying it’s got to stay in the deck but I thought it was worth mentioning

@@zedhuckle9641 correct. cast elder deep fiend, i get a cast trigger and an ulalek trigger. i will put them on the stack so the ulalek trigger is on top and resolves first. i pay and copy the spell and the cast trigger (which is an ability of the elder deep fiend). Now you put an extra elder deep fiend on the stack and THEN the copied cast trigger on top (because for some reason ulalek is worded that way)

16:25 imagine you're swinging with Ulamog and flash Elder Deep-Fiend on attack! Pay the 2 for Ulalek and now you get to 2 Deep-Fiends, tap up to 8 target permanents, AND get to double that attack trigger from Ulamog and exile 40 cards off their deck! I think any Eldrazi with flash and a cast trigger is too good for this deck to cut.

I'm surprised that monstrous vortex isn't up for consideration. As long as you get one of the eldrazis that make 2 scions as a cast trigger on the stack, you could pretty much cast the entire deck as long as you have a decent amount of eldrazis in the deck.

Im making sure to put Ulamog, the Defiler into mine. That thing is too insane not too. I know the old Ulamog is good too but daaaaaamn that new one. I also swapped out the basic lands for all of the Triomes just as a yolo. roaming throne also to be is a must, since it will copy the ability again so you will get three triggers of whatever you are copying with the commander, then Ugin Spirit Dragon also just for the hell of it. Then of course Dark Depths for the combo with Mutated Cultist to play that Ulamog The Defiler for free.

Played my brother tonight. 1v1. 30 hp. I had this and he had creative energy. He won 2-1. I didn't know how to pilot it. It was a legit fun deck. It would be terrifying in 4 v 4.

i think building this deck with high cmc is a trap. to me this deck seems more low cost copy/spawns & scions. high cmc eldrazis have more synergy with zhulodock

I was surprised they didn’t include Conduit in either decks.. Hey look at Ulamogs dread sire this way. Your opponent can’t just sacrifice a token to it- it has to be something of mana. It’s not that great but it’s a better way to look at it

Elder Deep-Fiend does tap 8 permanents if copied... not because the copy gets a cast trigger but bc the cast trigger is on the stack when you resolve Ulalek's trigger... No?

I feel like cutting bonder's enclave is kinda silly. Having card draw on a land is a huge bonus considering that its basically 0 deckbuilding cost. I would cut the basic wastes in this deck over bonder's enclave every day

You could tap Ulamog's Dreadsire on the turn of your opponent, to have 2 10/10 Eldrazi on the field, that card its nuts in this deck so I dont really know why are you saying that I have to wait to my next turn, you have to check the rules!

I think Forsaken Monument would be a fantastic addition. Cheap card that does a lot of work. Ramp, anthem effect, and life gain. With the right support, it shouldn't be difficult to cast turn 2. Easy turn 3. For my big money additions, Im definitely adding Mana Vault and/or and Ancient Tomb.

I was gonna preorder this deck, but WotC has left it out of stock on Amazon for like 6 weeks now? Maybe longer? I'm sure my LGS will def be trying to scalp it for $150-200, so I'll probably just grab the singles I want from this deck and the main set to update my Zhulodok. There's some great cards in the deck, but nothing to justify the insane price. I have a feeling a lot of those folks who pre-ordered this at the scalped prices are feeling really dumb after the full deck list was spoiled.

Ulalek does not copy conduit of ruins cost reduction ability, since it's not an activated or triggered ability, right? Am I missing something?

Ulalek can make two copies of Conduit of Ruins. So two on the field makes things 4 mana cheaper!

Because they are colorless, they do not have a color. This means it won't trigger Spreading Plague

You can. Put Mirror Box and Mirror Gallery into your deck. Its a shame that those two cards always get ignored. And both have the great Legend as the art on it, the one that was sadly so ignored in Neon Dynasty.

Cast echoes, copy it with commander. Next turn play Roaming throne, choose eldrazi. Next turn cast Kozilek, Butcher of Truth. Put a sword of selves (which says that "equipped creature has Myriad) and equip it to Kozilek. Next turn swing with Kozilek, flash in a cheap eldrazi and pay two to copy the stack. Then you win because you've lost all your friends!

@@dillonfeazel3117 with Myriad (blade of selves) you would create the tokens that are an exact copy of Kozilek... and correct me if I'm wrong but you have to choose between the tokens (before attack resolves) or the original Kozilek plus 2 tokens since the legend rule still applies. You would end up with one attacker... no extra draws since the tokens were not cast and no graveyard shuffling unless you keep one of the tokens and sacrifice the original Kozilek. Is this wrong? If not I see no advantage in all those turns to end up with one Kozilek attacking.
