Eldritch Horror Solo Playthrough in the Dreamlands Expansion!

Join me as I journey into the Dreamlands to stop the rising of Hypnos!
NOTE:
On my final round I totally messed up the turns. I was playing Darrell But I looked at Luke's skills so I rolled more dice than I should and may or may not have passed that test. Oh well, I was really close to winning the game and probably still would have regardless of this mistake and the main point of the video is so you can see how the game plays. Mission accomplished! Plus, it was like 2AM at that point and a mistake of some sort was inevitable.
Also, at one point I was recording and my memory card had gotten full but my camera just kept going like it was fine. I had to replay a whole round that I lost and I reveal this at some point in the video. Luckily enough, I passed the tests that I originally failed when I replayed so it advanced the game faster.

Great playthrough! I like the balance between speed and flavor, and am always down for more Eldritch Horror playthroughs. Subscribed! 1:15:45, you can't get a second debt condition. You can't get a second of any kind of condition. The test at 1:17:50 is lore, not will. 4 dice instead of 6. Luke had 4 rerolls, though, so you almost definitely would've won anyway. As far as I can tell, you caught all of the other rules mistakes. Luke Robinson is the real MVP. It seems like his stats and items are perfectly designed for Hypnos. Even numbers are definitely easier than odd numbers. In addition to what you said, mysteries that say half the number of investigators round up rather than down. I've found 4 to be much easier than 2, largely because it's easier to spread out over the map.

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think my next playthrough I want to try with Egypt and Dreamlands side boards. So I'll pick the ancient one of one, and the prelude card of another. I think that would be interesting. But we'll see and I have limited time to play or for videos so it all depends on lots of other factors. Thanks for the clarification on debt and the catch of the incorrect test. I definitely was getting less aware cus it was like 2 in the morning. But I agree, I don't think it would have changed much of the outcome. Luke does have a great ability and all the investigators that came with dreamlands are uniquely suited for it. The scientist is awesome she can stop gates from spawning by being on that location and because of the face up nature of the gate stack for dreamlands it forecasts where they're going to show up. Can't wait to play again!

Hi, really enjoyed watching! Fast paced and entertaining! Could you please make a gameplay of Under the Pyramids or Cities in ruin(using only its preludes and mythos)? Because I'm from Brazil and these expansions aren't available in my language. So I'm considering mixing some English expansions in my Portuguese base, forsaken lore and mountains of madness collection. But I'm quite resistant because even though I can speak and read in English quite well, it's not the same thing. (For example, at first I thought Hypnos didn't allow you to recover neither sanity or health. Some text interpretation may be silly for native English speakers, but sometimes it's confusing to me). I know that other channels may have it, but I really like the quality of your videos! Keep up the good work! New subscriber!

Thanks Matheus! I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much. I finished recording a playthrough of Cities in Ruin and it was my 3rd try and I WON!! So that will be my next Eldritch Horror video I'll hopefully edit and upload soon. I have one other video to finish and upload first. I mention you in my video I hope I say your name ok but thank you for the suggestion I just happened to already be planning both Cities in Ruin and Under the Pyramids but I wasn't going to use all Cities in ruin Mythos but then I decided to just for you! I actually did that my first game and they were really hard so I ranomized the second time, still lost and thought what the heck, I'll do it anyway and Matheus will enjoy it at least and fortune was with me and I won! So keep your eye out for the upload!

No problem if you said my name wrong, it's quite difficult to pronounce it in English xD From your videos I'll decide which English expansion I'll buy since I can afford only one (because it's possible to find a couple them here but with a much higher price than it's found in the US. Thanks! I loved how thematic this expansion was especially using investigators and ancient one from it...and I can't remember but I think I did the mythos deck with only dreamlands mythos as well. So much fun!

Chrome translated your comment for me. Sounds like you enjoyed the video but one translation was "it is tough to add a board'...maybe that was a question? It's not tough to add a board if that was a question. It definitely is great but the boards all go with specific ancient ones or prelude cards so if you just add them for more locations there's not that much point. Mask is not out yet it shows as in development on the upcoming page on the FFG site. Thanks for the comment! I plan to make a video soon for cities in ruin!

Yeah it was a great ability as long as you don't go to zero clues you've always got one to spend. 2 player is good for me because it's already a lot to process. And still can be quite challenging. I lost twice before this game. Same with my Cities in Ruin game I played that I think 3 times before and lost and then happened to pull out the win when I recorded!

Around 1:01:10 the card tells you to discard all your improvement tokens, but you only discarded 1 of your 2 improvement tokens.

The other token was an impairment, not an improvement. I wish I could have discarded the impairment token. 😉

Just a couple of nitpicks after watching the first 35 minutes (so far). Around 34:06 you chose to ”spend” 1 clue, but you use the word ”lose”. If the card had actually told you to lose 1 clue (instead of spending 1 clue) then Darrells camera ability to gain a clue after spending one would not have been possible. You do say ”spend” right after, but I just wanted to point that out for new players. Also you say ”local action” instead of ”local path” a few times, and while moving along a ”local path” does not require an action, ”local actions” do. Just so new players watching this don't get that wrong. :)

I just watched it and I said spend 3 times. The one time I said lose it was about losing sanity which was what would happen if I didn't spend the clue. It was kind of said quickly but that is why you heard lose I believe (you can read it on the card) and I did not say lose a clue.

Why does the audio on your voice go from great to awful and back? Are you having to dodge around a stationary mic or something?

Josh Martin yeah I record on my phone so I'm at the mercy of it's mic. I also run the audio through some processing and sometimes the effects are funky. One day I'll have a proper lapel mic and better equipment hopefully. Hope you enjoyed the content!

I did, thank you! The audio stays pretty consistently good once you settle down and start playing. Also you are super-pro at not reading ahead on those card descriptions - good job with that. I have a really hard time not reading ahead, which ruins a bit of the fun when you're not playing with other people who can read your encounters for you.

Josh Martin thanks! Yeah I love playing it out like it's a story not reading ahead good or bad but only experiencing what applies. It's not only fun at the time but keeps things new for if you get the card again at some point you won't already know all the things that can happen. Not that that's much of a problem after adding a few expansions there's just so much content!

Around 01:20:39 you spawn a gate but you forget to spawn a monster on that space (not that it really matters in this case).

Yes this was the last card of the game and it was 2am so I was just going through the motions to finish. It was highly unlikely anything could steal the win at that point. It's not really a tutorial and if someone watched the video up to that point and suddenly thinks you spawn gates without monsters, I can't help them at that point. 🤣
