While everyone else listens to the Top 25 and believe those are the artists...a woman like Eleanor McEvoy is preciously for those who are in the "know" of what real powerful music and lyrics are. It didn't take long for Emmylou Harris & Mary Black to cover it. In Ireland Eleanor's album with this song was the best selling album in that country's history. Eleanor is well-known, but she deserves far more attention for both her performances and her work -- in the US. She is without a doubt one of the best female singers and composers. Her work is not product, it's art.

Ok people, let's make this clear: This song is by Eleanor McEvoy. It was written by Eleanor McEvoy. It was the title track on the album "A Woman's Heart". When the album first came out, Eleanor was unknown, so the song was recorded with Mary Black singing backup. It is NOT a Mary Black song, but this confusion has followed both singers for decades. For years Mary Black politely refused to sing this song live, explaining that it is not hers; while Eleanor gets accused of covering her own song.

Quite an uplift to hear this song again. Beautiful music . My favourite singer of the time was Mary Black but there were some great singers of that era who are still wonderful to listen to.
