After watching this clip several times, I get the feeling that she was more voicing the rhythm in her feet. You get the sense that she could probably add all kinds of vocal "scat" to her tapping. I really enjoy hearing the syncopation of her feet with the music - especially some of her "trademark" rhythms: the boogie woogie one and that great traveling step she uses in the "Honolulu" cut routine. It really enhances the music.

I love how Ellie poses like Supergirl at the end of the dance. So befitting!!!!!

After this1952 performance, Eleanor Powell did not dance professionally again until her big comeback in Las Vegas in 1961. However there is talk of her dancing for a six week engagement in 1953 but that cannot be verified.

Why is this
@jackanthony9764 жыл бұрын
@@DanteLara The reasons are complicated but they involve a jealous movie star husband and her desire to be a stay at home mother for her son. All this came out in her 1959 divorce proceedings.

Some time around 1946-47 Ellie performed at the Palladium in London in order to raise money for the down payment on their home since Glen was under a rather tight paying contract and could not afford it. The Peter Ford site has some interesting info on this.

This might sound silly, but only recently I realised you can hear her voice, or more like a sigh, at 00:27 - 00:28 I like it :)
