i love how the cello sticks out from everything as its own

I distinctly remember this being played by a string quartet on TV back in the sixties with The Beatles. I know as my cello teacher at the time was the second violin. It's one of the reasons I still like and love the arrangement by George Martin. Wish I could find a recording.

Excellent transciption!! Although there were a few minor nitpicky things I noticed: It would be helpful overall to be more clear when there is divisi vs when there is double stopping, as occassionally it appears as a divisi when it definitely sounds like double stopping It would also be helpful if the parts were split instead of a closed score, although I know the page doesn't afford much real estate (also correct labelling on the violins would be helpful! It's conventionally violin 1 & 2 on top line, 3 & 4 on second), this would also help with the divisi clarification mentioned above Bars 14-18, violin 1 (& 2?) part has double stops, B and E (then C and E) on A and D strings Bars 19-26, the "expressive" line sounds to me like it is played only by the first cello, not with the first viola (same in 63-70) Bar 55 (into 56), the C should be on that last quaver (tied to the semibreve), which would also make it clear that it is a double stop and not a divisi Bar 57, viola part, 4th beat, first quaver is an E not an A Bars 58-62, those are definitely double stops with the open E string and the B/C In the final bar, there is a G3 in the mix somewhere (probably either viola 1 or violin 4) Some of these might be wrong, I personally would not be able to follow through and make such a detailed transcription as this, so well done! I just get a bit hyper-fixated when I see any minor errors in transcriptions lol

Nice work, looks and sounds really good. I would never have believed those 16th notes in the cello (bar 3) without seeing a photo of the first page of the hand-written score, and sure enough, there they are! I have never really heard them clearly as 16th notes (though in the repeat of this section they stand out a bit more) - I always just heard them as simple 8th notes! A couple of suggestions, in bar 14 I think all the parts divide to play two notes. I hear E+B and E+C in 1st violin, and B+G and C+G in 2nd violin. The last two bars have always intrigued me, it sounds great on the original, but the cadence is pretty unusual. I hear a low G at the end, so I think the upper viola part probably drops to a G for the last bar. I also think I hear a B in the last bar as well, perhaps in the 2nd violin, below the E you have notated? And I wonder if one of the violins (lower part of 1st violin?) plays G F# E, a 3rd below the higher 1st violin part? The final chord sounds quite full, and the viola low G and B in the violin helps thicken it up.

Eleanor Rigby had me hooked when I first heard it in the 1970s. I've even had a go at playing it on a huge Wurlitzer theatre organ (that was fun). Amusingly, without the vocals it sounds like a slightly happy version of the Pyscho theme (Alfred Hitchcock)

You are correct. I've edited this error in the 'score notes' in the video description. Thank you!
@dabeamer427 ай бұрын
There's one tiny edit I would make -- starting at measure 58 (1:48), all the parts other than the celli should be marked as a down bow on every note. Regular bowing would start again at m. 63. The software you're using to realize the score is excellent, and I don't know whether this change would make a difference for how software "plays" it. But it's what they do in the original, and the sound in a live performance would be slightly different, with a little more urgency and "bite".
@scarbo22298 ай бұрын
I enjoyed that! Not sure why all the double bars in the score, but it’s very well done.
@jakemilburn7 ай бұрын
Overall is say it’s pretty accurate but I still think there are a few spots that aren’t actually what’s being played in the recording. For example, the Expr. Chromatic line I don’t think it’s doubled by the cello, there are others that are escaping me, but again, I’d say it’s still pretty accurate

If I may, notes are quite right, the viola part in the last part is ok, although I think that some voices are missolplaced For instance, some cello part is doing what viola plays in fact. And sometimes violins play unison and the other harmony is played by violas (uni between them too). It is accurate, not a 100 percent but it is very close. I just want to say that in bar 70, violins 1 and 2 play in harmony (doubled by 3 and 4, in fact) upper harmony G E B A G, the other one being E B G F# E. Violas soustain the descending line of C, B. Cello is ok. What is wrong? There is no stick notes as in this score, the main melody of ur first Violin sticks to notes E, G and B of violins 2, 3 and 4. (That last quarter rest should have been an F#, if you listen closer, it sounds in that octave too,, not just no the cello). Hope you don't feel annoyed by this. If so, feel free to delete it.
