Never trust the audience on such a question for such a big amount of money. No way did 47% of the audience know that answer, it's obviously less likely to be a much lower percentage of people that know the answer, she got too cocky and greedy.
Exactly why ask the audience is useless past 32000

Yep, when the questions get harder the audience are mainly guessing. You're better off going for a lower percentage response than the highest percentage response in this type of scenario. The golden rule is, if you're not sure, take the money.

I have read a bit about Shackleton’s expedition- which was 1914. Many of the men who survived with Shackleton went almost straight to the trenches. So I was pretty confident about Scott and Amundsen’s expeditions.

She should not to all the reasoning if she’s gonna ask the audience. She also shouldn’t have set the safety net below if she’s gonna gamble. I did have the 1911 guess myself, although I thought I didn’t know this.
