I feel so sorry for Colin. I had a stalker for 9 years, for 7 of those years he was to my knowledge my school bully, but by the time it got to 7 years he had befriended me. We went on a walk, I had forgiven him for his past actions and pinned it to immaturity, and agreed to hang out, and he took me to the middle of nowhere and that’s where he confessed to wanting to kill people, he told me he frequently killed animals and then told me if I told anyone he would kill me too, the only reason he hadn’t was he was obsessed with me and didn’t know why. I was 16, in the middle of nowhere, with this guy who was stalking me. But I didn’t know until then. For 2 years afterward my life got worse. But initially, when he told me that about himself, just like Colin and for self preservation purposes I acted very casual, like I didn’t care, I even faked interest in murder to keep him talking so he didn’t notice I was terrified for my life. I still believe this saved my life. I went to the police that night when I got home, and they did nothing as it was hearsay and he hadn’t actually hurt me yet..I had to move away and cut off contact with people I cared about so he couldn’t find me again.

And remember, she herself was struggling with coming out of an abusive relationship and mental health issues of her own. She did take him to psychiatrists. Unlike a lot of other people, she tried. He try may not have been upto our standards but then again, we dont know what her situation was really like.

@@lau_baril yeah but even after the first offence his dna would be in the database. If he tried to rape more women, they would have caught him sooner. Even if it saved 70-74 women, that us still a LOT of women. 60 is a lot, even 10 is a lot. Plus, in that first trial, he may have been found to be mentally ill and maybe would have been put in a pysch facility only to be release upon treatment. Also, understand that the escalation in violence and murder happen as the criminals get more and more cocky as they dont get caught. speedbumps sometimes prevent escalation. That policewoman consented to taking part in the operation. She apologised to Colin, saying 'it's my job', and whatnot, meaning she did it willingly to keep her job. I understand that of course she would've undergone some form of psychological trauma from the ordeal, but arguably nothing anywhere near what Alex would've experienced. To give that woman £125,000 for something she consented to, when a victim who witnessed the murder of his own mother at the age 2 years old was only awarded £20,000 for therapy to last him the rest of his life is truly disgusting. It's purely infuriating, and I hope with all my heart that Alex has been able to live a life that is a close to 'normal' as possible, and has been able to grow up as happy as he could, and I'm overjoyed to hear that he is living a good, happy, and peaceful life, currently.
@emexdizzy3 жыл бұрын
Eh... I feel leery calling it consent. You can't fully consent to sex with your boss when they proposition you when the boss may fire you for saying no. For the same reason, I doubt you can fully consent to acting as a sex worker at the behest of the police department bosses, who are probably men, telling you that you need to do this and to keep going or else another woman's rape and murder will go unpunished. Consent is also ongoing and can be revoked at any time. If you say yes and change you mind and a sexual partner doesn't stop, it's rape. If she consented at first to terms that were safe and ethical, terms which changed, and then pressured into continuing to give consent by her bosses when she was clearly uncomfortable, she wasn't able to keep consenting.
@4legsalex7063 жыл бұрын
@@emexdizzy My understanding of police work in the UK is that you can’t be forced to go undercover by your superiors. It’s done on a voluntary basis with compensation because of the additional risk involved. It’s an assignment that you apply for rather than a job you’re allocated without consent.

@laynasnow85503 жыл бұрын
If she consented to doing something sexual in order to keep her job then no, it's not consent. Yes, Alex should have been given more, but those two should be looked at separately. If you worked so hard to get your job and your boss said you had to pretend to be into depraved things, and you had to live for 7 months writing and flirting with someone you thought wanted to rape and murder you, and you had to go pretend you were into him, and you thought you had to because it was 'part of your job' then afterwards the public turns on you because your part was terrible and unethical, it would deeply affect you. The whole thing was unethical, and you can't expect that her bosses were fair to her when they were so focused on this honey trap happening in the first place!

I agree she did not deserve more money than the actual victim of the crime, but I'd have to know more about her to decide if she deserved anything at all. "Agreeing" to something is really not a sound way to judge. The women threatened with rape or their children would be killed couldn't give consent to the rapist. Consent can't happen when there's explicit or even implicit threat. What would have happened if she, as a woman on a mostly male force, said no? "Lizzie James" obviously wasn't going to be raped, but joblessness and poverty are not minor threats. They basically used her as a whore. I doubt she signed up to become an officer so that her department could exploit her as a sex worker (which this was, she was basically being a cam girl). I also doubt she agreed to it at the start believing she would be used to entrap him. She was probably told she needed to do it in order to protect other women from a bad man, that there would be boundaries, and she was pressured over and over into violating those boundaries. We shouldn't be saying "she agreed to it" when systems of power almost certainly pressured this woman into sex work. If she was under coercion, this probably could be seen as similar to sexual assault, even though she was also used as a tool to violate someone else' consent. Her culpability needs to be viewed through a more complex understanding of consent.

@Chocolate Stars I agree, those things that happened to him in the past are totally horrible, but they just explain, not excuse all of his actions. Also, my point is he only targeted on women with children, because men are so sure all females are weak and they can easily manipulate them with their kids. This guy from the video chose women all the time, not men. Because the knowledge that females are just a “thing to do stuff with” is deep inside people’s minds. My narration is kind of chaotic and messy, but i hope my point is clear. I think is sort of a stupid thing to deny that men think about women as of sexualized objects that have two functions: to give birth and to serve. And of course the result of his traumatic childhood is not only about the male issue. But imo it’s a massive part of it anyway.

It happens to women, more often even, and they don’t receive justice or peace but they also do not go out and rape and kill men in the same light. The worst part is to see his actions explained in a way that paints him as a victim. By being a man, it allowed him to commit these crimes. It is a male issue.

Something never sat right with me regarding this case , how can a person be considered mentally not responsible for this kind of crime but yet he still knows when to attack , I mean if you are mentally not responsible you wouldn’t know danger from safety . He wouldn’t have waited for the moment her boyfriend wasn’t there or wouldn’t have chosen to attack his victims in empty areas . Thank you for the 3 parts Eleanor , this must have been exhausting for you , thank you again 💕

Sad to think that most of these murderers were raised in an abusive environment and basically traumatized since childhood. Not all go to become murderers but many eventually become abusers themselves. A vicious cycle.

I forget where I saw this quote, but it said the worst crime you can commit is to hurt a child because they take that hurt and put it back in the world :(

You may think me heartless, but that is one sound reason pro abortion. If you can't give a child a good home, if you raise it in a violent, miserable, traumatizing environment, you send another potential predator out to prey on others. Republicans think that being pro birth is empathy enough. But I congratulate any potential mother who recognizes that she is in no position to raise a child or is with an unfit father early on.

@@intrepidtomato Yeah, you are heartless. Everyone deserves a chance at life and there's no guarantee things will turn out that badly.

@@intrepidtomato Thank you for speaking it out. No baby should be forced to be born into a life of misery, neglect and abuse!
@EmeraldEsmerelda2 жыл бұрын
@@Jim-so3zm No, it’s not heartless at all, it’s extremely mature. Abortion is and should always be seen as an option for women, if a woman is in an abusive relationship how on earth is bringing a child into that situation a good and safe idea?? It isn’t! Abortion is a very good option, if you’re so worried about the foetus why not go and adopt one of the many children that are already in the foster system instead of complaining about women doing something to their bodies that has absolutely nothing to do with you and also simultaneously avoiding a potentially dangerous situation for a child. Look at the bigger picture in the future instead of being immature and inconsiderate.

Our Eleanor cranked out a fantastic 3 part documentary like a PRO. She has matured into an articulate presenter who is comfortable both behind the mic and in front of the camera. The number of subscribers reflects her abilities. I'm just terribly proud of her. She's headed for even greater things.

The blood of all those victims are on the police hands. I understand that it can be difficult with no leads, but all they had to do was DNA test the FIRST VICTIM. His own mother turned him in, and they did nothing. Absolutely disgraceful.

This story is so sad from all angles. It's always heartbreaking to see someone was just living their lives and then there was someone else who just decided it was fair to take their lives, to take them from those ones they love. A dedicated mother, a wife, a daughter, a friend.. it's horrible to know how unsafe we are. :( About the killer: I feel nothing for him as a man, he's just horrible. He deserves no pity. But I do feel bad for the boy he once was. Both my brothers are also Aspergers and I've seen so much - and that's not even everything. If people only knew what abuse, neglect and exclusion can do to someone, especially if they're "different" somehow..
