SSO said at the beggining of the year that they are planning to update the whole Horse care system. Also SSO is updating the races slowly. If you noticed, you already know that in Goldenhill Valley the showjumps can now fall down. (They even updated the Small Showjumping race in the Stable) So SSO is really wants to bring back those features that the old games had. 😊😍

I just put together one outfit with good stats that I liked and I stuck with it 😂😂 it's so much work finding other outfits that have good stats and I don't really bother changing it either 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ the only thing I change is the top to a jacket when I'm in Dino Valley cause it looks so cold and weird otherwise 😂

This might be an unpopular oppinion but I don't want to see the old care system return 😂 It annoyed me so much, expesially in the first game when you have a super large area and a really slow horse, so getting from one area to another is a pain, and you also had to stop every 10 minutes to care for your horse. Yes, it would make players care for their horses more but I personally prefer it this way. By the way, wasn't there a feature similar to this in the past? I remember something like, if you rode around too much your horse would be thirsty again, and if you didn't stop to take care of it, the color of the icon would change to red and then white I think? I kinda liked that, you needed to care for it more, but it didn't actually change the speed of the horse or something, as far as I remember anyway. Also, something small that I would like to see return is the music from star academny, I actually think that they were really good and I would like to listen to them in the disco, and maybe even perform them? 👀💕

The problem in the original games was that you had to ride long distances with a potentially weak horse 😅😅 it was also a problem that you needed a lot of food and water to filfill the horse's needs.. so yeah, in the beginning of the game it's very annoying but the sydtem could be imoroved for SSO. They could make the needs decrese 50% slower and make food and water twice as effective :) Edit: we also have the horse trailer in SSO so people wouldn't ride the same distances

Omg I remember it. But here's what you missed: when the icon goes red, you get more and more icons. If all are red, you are sent back to your stable.

I honestly would not want the care system of the season games back. It was quite annoying to have to take care of the horse so often. It is kinda weird that if you use stable care every day your horses never gets hungry or thirsty anymore after riding for like two hours but I don't mind it too much either. I like that we can gallop all the time without the need to worry about care, it's very convenient especially while training. About features, I would really like to be able to swim like many, and being able to let our characters jump would be fun. Overall do I think SSO has improved? Yes defenitly! Much better graphics, the storytelling has always been good ever since SSL and is still as good, music has always been good, there is much more interaction with the community and they are much more friendly (I heard some stories that they really weren't so helpful to costumors in the first years and not as friendly) and helpful. However there still remain some flaws, they really need to fix leveling up. All the players who missed temporariy quests (like jojo siwa and the horse market for exapmle) can never gain the same amount of xp which isn't fair in races. I'm lucky enough to be at the end of level 21 but many are not. They should also let us players choose our favourite gait animation for a certain breed instead of changing is after it's being released. I really don't find that acceptable, don't even want to train my Trakehnners this fall.

I honestly hope that SSO brings out more Videogames like STarshine legacy because i´d love to see some more Backstory about all characters. Maybe also just a Quest about elizabeth and her time as a Soulrider and why her Sisterhood broke?

What I really liked about old Star Stable games was the races. They were challenging and put pressure on you, after completing them I always felt satisfied. Sso races requires zero skill, they're boring, plain and repetitive. Training is not fun in this game after finishing the same race after 10000th time.

In Lizzie's race on Paddock Island, I think that the poles do come down. However, it still isn't much of a showjuming experience. In the races at Starshine Ranch, you do ge five seconds added if you knock over barrels or weave poles. However, we really need our characters to jump and a more realistic horse care system where we pick out all four hooves. I think we could still have stable care for the horses in the stable or the pasture, but we would still need to care for the horse we are currently riding. And about the seeping... at the moment our characters can't close their eyes. They don't even blink. NPCs, including older ones that are the same model as our characters, do blink. There is a house in Dundull where you can go in and sit on the chairs but not lie in the bed. What if we could lie in the bed as well. There would be options to have our eyes open or closed and in the corner there could be a stay the night button. We could have these in all areas instead of the stay the night quests and it would cost the same as staying the night. When we woke up, we would still be in the bed.

Well.. I hope they'll never add the bars. I mean, a little more realism is fine, but not too much. It's not a kids'game anymore then. There should be an on/off feauture for the realism part, so people who dont want it wont be forced to use that.

Back when I started to play in 2013, they did have a need system. Admittedly, it wasn't as realistic as the original need system, but over time your brush, hoofpick, water and hay icons would show up again in a kind of beige color. If you still kept on riding, they would change to yellow, then orange, and finally red. There were no consequences to having a horse with 'red' needs, but it did show up. And suddenly one day the whole feature was gone. I still miss it sometimes XD

To be honest, I'm glad they left the 'need' system out of the new game. It would make the game too much like a life simulator, and if you need to care for every single one of your horses it could easily make playing not enjoyable. For example, if I'm playing the Sims 4, I often just cheat my Sims needs because I dislike how quickly they run down, and how it interrupts your session.

The horse's needs only decrease when you ride it, and how hard you push it determines how fast the needs decrease. There are essensially only 3 needs to worry about, as the last one is exhaustion, and the horses' traits also determine how fast the needs decrease I'm actually surprised how many people said they don't want this system back 🤔🤔 I don't really like the system we have in SSO because you have to go to a stable to take care of your horse, and you have to do it every single day cause if you miss a day your horse's mood will go down and it takes a long time to get it back up and you have a slow horse for days on end 🙈 plus you have to do it with every single horse

This was really interesting, I didn't know about the other game companies :D Anyway, I think sso is overall better than the older games, there are some things I'm kinda salty about (like how they changed Lisa, she's cool but punk Lisa was iconic) but the story is more engaging and... mature? Like we actually have characters dying and dealing with grief and it's not just a game for children. As for the care system, I would LOVE to be able to just... pick up food right from the ground or care about my horse anywhere. But maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I think the stamina system was kinda annoying. Sure, it would be more realistic, but I remember when I first started sso after playing the original star stable games and I was so happy that the stamina system is not a thing anymore :D Also I hope they'll really make our characters jump, that's something I've always wanted too.

I see you point, but the thing is, the horses in the original games have one more speed than in SSO - the fastest one that goes beyond the speedometer. I'm quite sure that that's faster than the max in SSO, and with a well trained horse, the stamina doesn't go down until you run that fast. So essentially, we would get an even faster gallop with an added stamina bar 😁

Eh, can't say they've improved much, the story is alright, I've experienced better stories, which actually nagged some emotions out of me. Then again, this is a game targeted at kids. About the mechanics, I do agree, yes. I recently tried out the older games and it was so strange to be able to jump! It was a bit janky though, understandably as it was an old game. Also I think the reason why they couldn't implement it is because probably the old games' code is *old*. I'm not a programmer but I know that codes and such can get outdated, janky, and cause lots of bugs, so that's why start stable might've not implemented it because they've probably changed their script language. This also applies to the realistic horse care feature, but I think there's another reason as to why they didn't implement it. If they implemented that, they'd have to remove membership. Because let's say you were a non-star rider, and you couldn't afford it. I think the player base would drop low, as some people don't bother on spending money on star stable (like me, I don't trust the company.) Then again it can go both ways, if the realistic horse care feature gets implemented it will drive MORE people to buy star rider. But if they removed star rider they could like, make it so that taking care of your horse is expensive unless you take the time to collect food and cleaning your horse yourself. Which could like, take hours and such depending on let's say horse. And maybe they'd have the normal day cycle depending on your timezone, but your horse would get tired quicker around dark and so on. The only thing that has "improved" in star stable are the graphics, animations, models ect. Though features haven't changed much, besides being put behind a paywall lol. Kind of makes me wish Star Stable made an online horse game just like SSO but for an older audience (13-18+). Kinda like the route Animal Jam's company went with. Though thinking about it, I wonder will they make more micro-transactions/paywalls for the older audience or not.

I don't think SSO has improved Jorvik (at least not in terms of storytelling, ugh), but I played the old games as a kid so there's a huge nostalgia factor there 😅 Thank you for making these videos, they help spread awareness about the history of this franchise!

Yeah I see what you mean, it was really hard to stay objective in this video 😅😅 I love the original story and will probably always be salty that they changed certain parts, but when when it comes to storyTELLING, I think they matured a bit in SSO. Things were very straight forward in for example Starshine Legacy, while now it's a little bit more mysterious and realistic and the writing has gotten deeper with the years 🤔

I’m rly biased cuz there’s a huge amount of nostalgia I get from these older games but I have to say... that I miss the artstyle? Like the graphics now are so much better but I feel like the stylized “squareish” artstyle and designs of ssl and ss were something rly iconic😅 !spoiler alert! I also kinda don’t like some of the story alterations they made, such as: I don’t rly get how soulrider reincarnations work anymore! How is it that Concorde reincarnated once he got killed, but there can by various soulriders alive at the time? Do they only inherit the powers now? When do they inherit them and when you stop being a soulrider? The previous soulriders in ssl always looked like reincarnations of Lisa, Linda, Alex and Anne but now I feel like anygirl strong with one of the circles can be a soulrider!😂 Thanks for coming to my ted talk❤️

I've recently stopped playing sso. They just keep adding new horse and new horse and every once in a while we'll get a recycled quest. No new areas, no new story quests (and when they do come out they are rare and go by fast), no new tack or clothes items that are nice looking and not extremely expensive and don't take all of your star coins out of your new horse budget, they really do look money hungry in my eyes. You're one of the only people from sso youtube that I've stayed watching since I quit playing, since I still want to hear some theories and stuff about how the game is doing. :) Great video as always and have a good day :D

I've started playing the older sso games and I gotta say a part of me feels bad cus I enjoy them more than sso right now ( with the exceptions of the controls) but I really do wish they had brought back that needs system cus I have always found it odd that the horse needs care once yeah caring for your horse ever like 10 minutes or so did get annoying but it was realistic cus horses eat a lot they'll eat grass at any chance they get. I like it better than what we have and I wish I could pick apples from apple grove and he racing systems to I do find they focused on those in the older games than now. Amd while I wont deny that sso team in the past has done a lot I right now find them to be quite.. very miss manged and I know people get mad at me for Criticizing the team but I did go to school for game development and I am helping my friend make his own indie game right now so I know what I'm talking about here. And I can tell just by how each update comes out is that...they need to stop doing weekly updates I think sso could excel and become even better if we got an update every two weeks or even a month because it would give them more time to work on things we would get bigger more polished and less buggy updates. I dunno i know its unpopular but as someone with experience in the industry and as someone that loves the game I wont deny or take away from the hard work that goes into the game but I really really think sso is hurting themselves with weekly updates, if they gave themselves more time to work since I feel like sso is stretching there workers thin with weekly updates . Sorry this doesn't really relate to your question but I dunno I kinda just wanted to express how I felt on the subject cus sso team has so much potential but there hindering themselves a bit.

I think that playing the old games would not only show you alternative systems and solutions for things and allow you to explore Jorvik, but it will also make you really appreciate what we have in SSO. I mean the games are very old so they are in no way perfect, and when you play them you notice a lot of things that aren't possible that you take for granted in SSO, such as the horse trailer, various hotkeys and turning your horse while standing still 😅😅

Alright I guess we can all agree that new Sso is much better and the Team is doing an amazing job, but there is one thing that I really think is not so great: the changed horse animations, like the Trakehners, I really loved the original animations and now that it's changed I feel like the Trakehners aren't the same. I really miss them..

I agree with that. They really should notify the players or even ask them when they want to change something on an already released horse. People have bought the horse for a reason, and they shouldn't just change it like that without a word.. it'd be like you ordering food and then after you receive it the chef comes running over and replace the cucumber with a tomato without saying anything

Also they showed us an old and a new version, I bet if they did the same with the Trakehners it probably would have ended differently, and even if not, atleast we would have known that a lot of people liked the new animations.

Personally, as a realistic roleplayer, the idea of endurance/care system would be absolutely FANTASTIC!! During live shows, its nearly impossible to create something realistic bc people just gallop through speed courses, etc. I would love it if sso brought this care system back, but maybe less intense, as people are saying (bc it runs out fast wowee) anyway this video is so amazing, & I absolutely love your discussions & theories! :))

Kinda late; but I think StarStable 1 was released in 2008? If I remember it correctly they were published during their corresponding seasons, Autumn Riders on autumn and so on. Not sure about SS2 tho, it is possible it was released after the new year. Edit: I checked; seems like I didn't remember it correctly, atleast not fully but turns out the games are actually even older. I found some ancient youtube videos of SS1 dating back as far as march 2008. Also found videos of SS2 from august 2008. SS3 and SS4 now could've released on its corresponding seasons, earliest video of SS3 was dated march 2009 and as for SS4, august 2009.

I honestly hope the community stops being so negative. Like it feels like sso are doing more story quest now and stuff. And game development takes a lot of time. For example, the updated characters. That's a HUGE update and they need to test it a lot. Because imagine you wake up and go check the Wednesday update and the character animations are broken and they look like raw doodoo?

Honestly, I'm quite happy that the care and racing systems are the way they are. I think more complicated care would be quite annoying. It would make races more interesting, but the rest of the game would get more exhausting. Running through half of Jorvik (for quests or judt with a friend) and having to care for your horse three times doesn't sound like fun to me. And the simplicity of the racing system makes it really relaxing to level up horses. You can just go on autopilot, watch a movie or talk to friends. There are more different races coming to Jorvik, which will definitely make racing more exiting, but keeping the system overall as simple as it is would probably keep more players racing.

Character jumping needs to be a thing as well as more physical characters. I think the whole free roaming/outdoor camping could also be implemented because of how many random campsites there are throughout Jorovik. I wish some things would change tbh.

I'm a believer that when they first launched the game, they did a complete copy paste of the map from the original Star Stable games and then changed it a little, because if you notice, before the updates, and apart from the made up areas like Moorland, everything looked the same. Like the lighthouse that was where Mistfall is now, it was in the same exact place as it was in the Autumn Riders.... Idk, just thought that was a fun thing to point out!

I wish they would update and bring back the Latvian draft since I am Latvian and Latvia has absoloutely no representation in any popular games. The lesson horse I ride at my barn is a Latvian draft he is really pretty and cute! I think star stable could do an amazing job making these horses in game and I hope they bring them back! This was pretty much it 😅😅😅 they are otherwise very similar, as the old SSO had those games as a base, while in other areas they can't really be compared (three of the games take place in different areas and different seasons than what we have in SSO)

The reason why I think they shouldn’t add jumping is because.. So, our characters can crouch right? So, if another player would jump on another player crouching.. Then.. 😰😓

I'm Pretty sure the reason jumping isn't a thing in sso is so people don't get to the places they aren't supposed to, however I still don't really see why Sso couldn't add barriers or something else to stop players.
