Pretty easy really, I do it with 7610, and startech video capture device. I recored them as . Mp4 and upload to KZbin

Hi Robbie, yeah, it's not rocket science. You would be shocked how some guys just do not get it. I use OBS Studio, so easy even a caveman can do it. Max NG7M

Yes, can you believe that? You can't make that up if you tried. I have no reason to take the time to post other than sharing information and these clowns will still complain! Technically illiterate and they are following a groups.io group for a radio that will set you back potentially $5000 and at the same time is at the bleeding edge of a direct sampling SDR receivers! It's comical if it wasn't real. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Amateur operators like yourself far out number the complainers out there. Not a bad idea and yes 1080p 60hz is a nice resolution. I would not have expected you would have to use it as a webcam on the computer. Thank you for sharing that for us.

Great video! BUT, could you please increase the audio level. Sometimes your voice gets soft and it's hard to hear you. And I'm not deaf either. Your audio level is lower than most. Thanks for doing the video and very best wishes! N4GYN Ray

Ray, very good comment. I have had some trouble with low audio. For future videos I'm going to record the radio AF on a different channel so I can change the volume without increasing my talking commentary. Plus, I might need to provide less commentary! Thanks for watching! 73, Max NG7M

Hi Max, I just bought the video HDMI dongle and can record the video from my K4, but no audio. I am using a Dell 5050 Desktop. Is there audio available from the K4 HDMI? I suspect not. The 5050 does not appear to have mic input. Tnx, Dale

Hi, the HDMI output on the K4 doesn't include audio. But you can use the USB AUDIO Line-in from the K4 to record the audio. Or you could take the line out of the back of the K4 and input that into a line in or mic input on another sound card on your computer to get the audio. I used OBS studio to make the video and I just setup the USB Audio line in for the K4 in the video as an OSB studio audio source. It's really slick once you get the hang of it. There is a very slight delay from the audio to the video, but I never offset it, it's close enough, but you could do that in OSB studio too, add a delay to the audio feed to get it right down to the millisecond on the synch. I have never had anyone complain that the audio was out of synch though. Probably not worth it really. Good question, thanks for watching. Max NG7M

I like Windows camera to monitor the K4 on the pc screen but is there a way to load it locally? So far I have to load MS Store and click to open it. It doesn't show a way to download it that I see.

Yes, you can just search for it... click the windows key and then type in camera. It will show the app and you can then right click on it and pin it to your task bar so that you can quickly click it next time. You can also pin it to the start menu and then move it up to the top of the list if you want. Max NG7M

Great idea Max. I have a capture card right here. I am using a small monitor off to the side for the pan adapter but this would be good too.

Always good to hear from you Tom. Yes, it is working well. The dedicated mouse for the K4 is a bit clunky for the time being, but not too bad. Looking forward to the remote software and I/Q data implementation. Not to mention a N1MM xml / UDP broadcast of the spectrum which has become a bit of a standard. Direct from the K4 would/will be very helpful. I sent the format to Wayne/Eric a number of months ago, but I have no idea if the UDP broadcast is on the radar. One of the most impressive things that I failed to mention in the video is the 55ms latency of the HDMI to USB capture. It's very hard to perceive any latency at all... very impressive for $27! There is this amazing website called www.google.com that you can use to search for this. Go there and type in: "wsjt elecraft k4 setup". Look around and do some research and read the K4 documentation too. After you review all the documentation out there on setting up WSJT etc... you might want to search the Elecraft K4 groups.io group, where there are many posts regarding the setup for WSJT. Join this group and after you have done your own due diligence, if you still have questions, ask for help in the group. You can also email Elecraft support if you have questions. You will get a much better response in the event you need to ask a question if you can demonstrate that you have done all the research before asking the question. Your question has already been answered many, many times at this point. A random question about WSJT on a KZbin video unrelated to WSJT probably isn't the best place to start.

How did you get the camera to see the USB device? I run win11 and the camera app on win 11 does not see it.

The hdmi to usb adapter presents the hdmi input to the operating system as a camera via the usb port you plug it into. Just like a webcam... but the input to the adapter is the hdmi output from the Elecraft K4D. You can use any software that will show webcam output and display the image. This was all described in detail in the video. I has nothing to do with the windows version. If the windows version you are using supports usb webcam input, you are good to go. Max NG7M
