@@JM-qn3tf not to mention, Prop 33 doesn’t force a city to adopt rent control. Prop 33 only would have repealed the law that currently blocks additional rent control measures. My guess is that most cities would choose not to adopt rent control. Other cities would have started adopting measure slowly. By the way, the law that is currently on the books that blocks additional rent control is called Costa-Hawkins. So named for the two real estate developers who wanted to prevent any more cities in California from controlling how much profit they could squeeze out of the housing market. And for the 45th year in a row, the real estate pirates have convinced the average person in California that the best thing for the economy is for everyone to keep paying too much for rent.
@cwilsonyt6 күн бұрын
@@JM-qn3tf @ and now I dare you to explain how rent control does not help. Clearly, having few rent controls led California to where it is today. Did you know that the median income in California is about $90k? Did you know that the median home costs $900k, and the median rent is about $2800/mo? Given that median rent, a household should be earning $172k. A household would need to earn around $320 to afford the median house. It’s probable that most people in California are paying far too much for housing. This is likely because for most of the last 35 years, developers in California did not find it in their interest to develop housing that wasn’t profitable. In other words, they twisted the market for max profit. I encourage a spirited debate.

Whoa, hold up. This comment needs more than just a grammar check; it needs a complete overhaul. First, the sentence structure is a mess. “By eliminating the profits will prevent investors”-what does that even mean? Are we eliminating profits to prevent investors? Or are we trying to say that investors won’t have incentives? Then there’s “It won’t. Help those of looking to invest.” It sounds like you’re trying to communicate in broken code. A little editing goes a long way! Also, if you’re going to make a bold claim about Prop 33, how about adding some actual reasoning? A vague gripe with no clear logic or grammar doesn’t make a persuasive argument-it just sounds like you accidentally mashed the keyboard halfway through.
