So they decided to take their time to formulate a judgement and we understand that even though it's really undesirable. So let's let IEC go and ask Concourt how Section 47(1)(e) must be applied or decide if IEC shouldnt even touch section 47 as a whole. This will benefit all of us.

The reasons are important because there are 7 other people who have been disqualified on the same grounds. So what happens to them? There is need for clarity so that there is equal treatment. It’s bizarre that subsection E is not in the purview of IEC, what is the point of publishing a list of candidates and then asking for objections? On the issue of civil servants etc running for office, once elected they can choose to resign and then become members of parliament. But criminal record we know that before hand so why vote for someone only to be disqualified by Parliament? Waste of time and money.

The remission alone cannot serve as reason for the decision to allow Zuma to be an MP, because it was, as President CR himself stated, part of a wider remission to many prisoners because of overcrowding and not particular to Zuma.
