Am a great admirer of Dr Finkelstein, although find his virtue-signalling a bit tiresome ('Look at me! How conscientious I am! How truthful I am, how this and that and the other I am!'. Certainly not something he learned from Dr Chomsky, who would never refer to himself.) And would appear he gets himself in a bit of a twist here. He criticises those for whom the cause is more important than the facts, and then says: 'And if the facts conflicted with what I believed, the facts went out, the facts went out' (1:29:54). This means what he believes is more important than the facts, which is not what I think he means. Surely, he means 'the belief went out.' Like Hercule Poirot's dictum: 'If the fact will not fit the theory - let the theory go.'

53:16 I cannot begin to express how accurate of a description of my experience on a student encampment was. I was a member of Palestinagård of Lund University, Sweden, and our community was *so* much more than just us students sleeping in tents. We had a welcome tent that always had volunteers ready to introduce ourselves to community members, share some tea and coffee and food, and walk through Palestinagård and talk about it and Gaza. We had guest lectures by sympathetic professors and community leaders every day. We had plenty of kids, too, who were safe and welcome to play---they were big fans of the art tent. ❤ We had lots of moms and grandmas who would come cook for us, then sit and talk with us. One grandma saw I was ill-prepared for the coming rainstorm, and she gave me rain boots and a rain coat and said, "If I were your age, I would be out here wearing these things myself. But I'm old and I can't, so you go ahead and wear them, and please keep fighting like hell to make this whole f*ck¡ng mess end." The last day of the encampment, we could feel that the end was coming soon. 0 cooperation with the head chancellor. Lots more police scoping out the place. That last afternoon, a local musician came and played protest songs and solidarity songs for everyone, and he sang beautifully as the kids danced and us adults swayed and clapped. It was a tender last moment as police closed in around us, carefully surveying the place. There was even a cop helicopter that last night---we looked up and waved, then sighed and hugged each other. The police came at 4:30am, and many many community members came out with coffee to share as people outside the makeshift police fence watched the people inside tents get arrested, one by one by one by one. Almost 50 are arrested, and around a dozen are taken to jail because they don't have IDs on them---or, in rare cases, are being completely uncooperative. I left the scene here, as I had to go to the airport, when my phone was bombarded with messages---violence had broken out. Students' heads slammed into the concrete ground, students slammed onto cars, one student choked out for over 40 seconds. It was awful. I could see the whole thing from multiple angles in real-time. And, on the Swedish national news and Lund local news that night? Police chief says there were "no incidents of violence" in the dismantling of the encampment. The Head of the Department of Education said it went perfectly smoothly. Students are accused of attacking an ambulance, which is reported damningly in the news, only for cell phone evidence to show that the "object thrown at the ambulance"...was a flower. Like. The bud of a flower. People got thrown in jail over a f*ck¡ng flower. More awful arrests continued to occur in the days that followed. It was such a mess. Such a beautiful place for the whole community, squandered so swiftly and brutally, smeared in the news for all to see. Maybe I was naive to think something like that wouldn't happen in Sweden, in the most left-leaning town in Sweden---but it did. So. To watch this, and know that Dr. Finkelstein witnessed my experience, and described it so accurately---that is immensely affirming. Thank you, professor ❤

So can you name one specific policy decision from Trump to justify this demonization of Trump and Trump voters as Racist and Fascist? This kind of rhetoric is neither calm nor reasonable and this fact is just masked by his soft monotonous voice that lulls the gullible into thinking his takes are intelligent. Eating up everything this guy says without questioning anything at all with your own critical thinking is pure NPC behavior. I can see through this fraud of an “intellectual” from a mile away by the fact that he only attacks Israel and turns a blind eye to the thousands of yearly Hamas rocket attacks in his one sided rhetoric as well as his completely rabid demonization of Trump and anybody associated with him. Also, a war with a 1.4:1 civilian to combatant death ratio is not genocide no matter what mental gymnastics this propagandist uses. Literally the lowest ratio of civilians killed in any war from the past multiple decades.

This writer believes you and Prof. Chomsky (and others who stood for justice) are like walking saints (in the very meaning of the word). I have read and followed both your writings and activities for the past 40+ years. This writer is about your age and lived through those years you talk about in the US, although I came to the US in 1963 and have been an activist and academic and I am about to retire. @JawboneDonky This is an argument used by people to delegitimize Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation and aparthide. There were people living in Palestine who were ethnicly cleansed during the Nakba and then occupied by Israel in 1967. Whatever you want to call those people, they deserve the same rights as anyone in Israel or anyone in the West. Israel has made it abundantly clear that it will never give anything to Palestinians, not even basic human rights. Anyone in this position would resist. What we have here are the essential building blocks of a settler-colonial state: settlers exert the "God-given right" of "manifest destiny" to oppress and take until the indigenous people can't stand any more and start to resist. At that point, the settlers decide that the indigenous people are an "existential threat" and proceed to do genocide in "self-defense." Sound familiar?
@worry_wart
@worry_wart Ай бұрын
@JawboneDonky These types of quotes only seem relevant to a Zionist whose mind has been poisoned by the historical revisionism and propaganda of the Israeli government. Whether or not the region is called Judea, Ottoman Syria, or Palestine, and whether or not the people are known as Israelite, Levantine, Arab, or Palestinian, they have always lived there, and despite the fact that they have never been allowed to establish an independent state, (Judea was conquered by a number of empires in ancient times, and the Ottoman empire colonized them for 400 years) they weren't subject to violent displacement and ethnic cleansing until the forced establishment of Israel after the Nakba. Yasser Arafat was a known CIA asset and the PLO have been frequent communicators with the US state department, they aren't representatives of Palestinians. Phillip K Hitti was a vocal proponent AGAINST the establishment of Israel. Joseph Farah is a far-right nutjob who owns a info-wars style "news" website. Ahmad Shukan and that quote are a complete fabrication, the Saudi representative of the UN in 1956 was Jamil Baroody, who was also strongly anti-Israel. Youssef El-Khoury is an irrelevant filmmaker, and is neither a scholar nor a leader, just another token who frequents Israeli news as another pro-genocide talking head.

Why Egypt built a wall to prevent of the returning back those millions who live in ga za and chose Ham as actions and idiology after in 2005 all Jewish people got forced out from Ga za in exchange for a promised peace?
