Electribe2 and Electribe2 sampler live looping (Cut-n-mute - Chase)

What's up, everyone!
I'm terribly sorry for my absence and I'm truly grateful for your support!
Special thanks to PLATONEX, who has lately become my 100th subscriber and whose comment actually inspired me to record this video!
This track is my first experience in using Electribe2 and Electribe2 Sampler in one mix. It also features Electribe2 modulation (LFO) a lot, which is just like instant fun in sound crafting.
The name of the track is "Chase".
Recorded straight to the audio interface.
Mastered with Ozone 8.

i'm in the middle of deciding if i should buy Digitone or E2+E2S and such great live sets are not helping me to decide which one is better ... it's like conditional triggers/plocks and grat FM engine VS. combined 32 tracks, sampling and more controls ..

Great track. It sounds absolutely reduced! I have electribe blue and I'm thinking of taking red now. As you can see, it turns out a great combo. But maybe it makes sense to save money on a roland mc-707? What do you think?

Thanks a lot! I don't have an MC 707, but it seems like it's an Ableton in the box and it sounds great. If you got the money, for sure go for it. :-)))

If you could only have one of the Electribes, which would it be? BTW love how the tracks are built real time. Rarely see anyone using the XY pad either but seen it in use in your vids.

Hi! Thank you very much! I would keep the synth. It has way more options to craft interesting sounds. And the sampler is less special in that department. I'm using XY pad for master effect mostly. Tried to do snare rolls with arpeggiator, but this way it eats more voices than when I just put them in sequencer mode. Actually, what is really very very very bad about both Electribes is how polyphony is managed. And the worst thing that it's not obvious what takes voices especially when you play live.

@@cut-n-mute9482 I'm looking for something portable, cheap and fun. Do you have better recommendations? I've seen older Octatracks for under $600 but not sure if the workflow is really that fun not how portable the machine would be. For under $250 (used) I think we have to live with the limited DSP/firmware even if 15 years ago we had things like the RM1X. It's a shame though, the firmware seems half done and Korg stopped support basically. Out of the few grooveboxes on KZbin the Electribe 2 boxes seem to produce pretty complete tracks regularly. The elektron model:samples also has my interest but it's not on the used market yet. Elektrons hold their value so maybe it's low risk to buy the model:samples new and sell it later. The FX and synthesis of the Elektribe seem more interesting though than the model:samples. I haven't heard any convincing demos from the Novation Circuit, I should probably search more carefully.

@@difflocktwo Don't get me wrong. You can have a lot of fun with Electribe. I've already said it before that somehow Electribe's limitations are it's advantages. And even when you hit the polyphony limit and you are far away from all you want to add to the track, at first it makes you mad, but then you become creative in trying to fit all your stuff. (Sampler is better with that, because you can always resample several tracks to one and free some voices.) And after all you can always export everything to Ableton project and start overdubbing. And yes, getting from nothing to a finished track is much faster with Electribe than with Ableton with Push 2 for instance. I've got Push 2 for three years and still didn't manage to build a complete live performance. While on Electribe I can build something reasonable in 20-30 minutes. So if you have an opportunity to get a used E2 for a reasonable price, you definately should. Any way you will be able to sell it back at nearly the same price.

That is correct. Midi sync and audio from the sampler goes to the audio input of E2.

How do the black version pads feel like compared to the red version pads? are they just thinner/harder? are there any downsides? I have the newer pads and i absolutely love them and would like to buy a used black electribe because they are dirt cheap used but i've been hesitating because of the pads are different.

The pads are obviously different and on the Red they feel more solid and expensive (if that makes sense). But there's no actual difference in response or something that lets you do something on one what you can't do on the other. They are good enough to make music, I would say. ;-)

As standalone units they are quite limited especially in the sequencer domain, but they are great for sound crafting! Using them with Ableton solves the problem.
