The Electric Bike Technologies Electric EZ-3 HD is an economical recumbent etrike with a focus on comfort as well as stability with suspension, chair like seating position, and extra strong chromoly frame design rated to carry 400lbs. Open platform allows you to swap battery brands, adjust the top speed and amp flow to change performance vs. efficiency, large bright display panel is easy to work with. A nice SRAM GX derailleur, triple ring setup for 21 gearing combinations, 3 brakes with 2 in the rear and 1 in the front, and reliable electrical system. The display panel is mounted more securely but you have to glance away from the road to read it, the grip shift is difficult to actuate with pinky and ring fingers, and it is somewhat heavy and hard to maneuver in tight spaces.

I had one of these that was not e-assist. It was a great trike for riding on flat ground but a major pain in the butt for hills because it was pretty damn heavy. It also takes up a lot of room when hauling because it is very long. I sold it and bought a nice tadpole trike (because everybody said that was what you should have). Well I am having a difficult time getting used to and comfortable on the tadpole. I am still trying to like it. With that said, if I don't develop a decent working relationship with it by the end of the month it will be for sale and I will be buying one of these.

What a neat review of a well engineered trike. Mikey thanks for allowing Alex to explain some of the unique technical aspects of the bike. It’s apparent Alex knows his “stuff”. EBT is a great company based on its products and company support. For me support is the name of the game. Keep up the good work!

That is an extremely nice delta trike. Really strongly built! I am planning on buying a Hase Kettwiesel here in Europe which is a delta trike a bit like that one with the handlebars below the seat. The Hase Kettwiesel is exported to the USA I think and it is available with the Shimano Steps electric assist. I think a lot now are sold with the Steps system and the one I get will have it. I haven't seen the Hase trike reviewed at this channel but if you get a chance to try one out that would be very cool!

Do the rear wheels turn independently? In other words, some kind of differential? It appears that one wheel in the rear is not driven, but instead just a coaster wheel.

Seems like suspension would be much more effective if it was under the seat which is right at the rear wheels. Also I wonder if going uphill on gravel the front wheel might spin because of so little weight on it. Seems like the battery would have been better near the front to put more weight over the front wheel.

Looks well engineered with the exception of the battery placement which seems a little exposed.

It's definitely unique, I love how one company has basically launched a whole line of different electric trikes because for some people, they are the only way to ride... for stability, back, and neck support... but yeah, they aren't as purpose built as some of the two wheeled machines on the market now... especially when it comes to battery design and placement.

I’m not sure that suspension does anything functional for the rider. A suspension fork would be lighter weight and les complex than a “mid frame” shock.
@dronepilotflyby9481
@dronepilotflyby9481 Жыл бұрын
To anyone just catching this video. I have an older version of The EZ-3. The mid shock works very well. As long as the trike is, a fork shock would do very little. For non-electric riding shorter cranks and Shimano thumb shifters make this a much easier trike to ride.

Now if this had rear wheel PAS it would be mine. The motor on the front wheel kills battery range
@dalestephan

Can you elaborate on why front vs rear would consume more power please?
@henrycarter7563
@henrycarter7563 5 жыл бұрын
@@dalestephan I have tried both a front and rear drive. With the rear you are helping the motor push the bike, whereas with the front the motor has to do all the work to pull the bike along. Then to me the front drive did not have the same feel as riding a bicycle, the being pulled not pushed. Plus having the extra weight at the front I found going over curbs was hard, even with shocks. But that is me and the way I found riding an ebike with front wheel drive. Now, if that bike had a mid drive motor and the rear wheel had a slip differential so both were the drive wheel. now that would be a real sweet ebike
@dalestephan
@dalestephan 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Henry. I appreciate your perspective. Hitting curbs hard is something I hadn't considered. Mid drive with diff would be sweet. What about dual rear hub drives? They could likely get two 350 watt hub drives for less than a single 700 watt and mechanical diff.

@@dalestephan how LIKELY and retail cost of differential is hardly relevent.... Just sayin... BUT!!!! GOING OVER CURBS FAST IS FOR 33 INCH FANTASY NOT ROAD TOOLS. Kent makes a 33 fixie.... failed to STalk owner on saturday who left his with trailer unlocked in front of store window wall. Those are WHEELchair rims right??? When Your paralysed differential type joints in frame prevent being bucked off but are not massproduced affordably yet tragically. This company is well suited to change that.

The seat isnt big enough to fit the butt of someone that weighs 400lbs. That seems like a pretty obvious oversight.. Would like to also point out that someone that's 400lbs would need something to help them get back off of that, some sort of handrail in the ground. It looks really well built. But I don't think people weighing 400lbs should waste their money on it. For the obvious reasons stated above. Cool that they are trying to make bikes for bigger people. They need to get a tester to help them out. The dude sitting on it in the beginning just happens to fit on that seat at 160lbs or whatever he weighs. He's no where close to 400lbs. What the hell did they think some 400lb dude would have to sit on.
