I like your style. If you find the River is just not enough to get you through the whole night, you can effectively create a battery extension with any cheap battery pack since the River takes charge through usb c, even a little pack will add to how long the blanket will run. For reference a 10,000mah battery pack is 37wh. I use a 20,000mah pack and it adds around 30% battery capacity.
@Adz

Yeah that could be a good idea actually! Although for me I’ll be using the delta 2 usually which doesn’t support usb c charging. But it has more than enough capacity for what I need. Thanks!

Enjoyed your video, it was funny because I had just said to my partner if we're going to get a motorhome we need to live off grid as much as possible and had just been trying to work out if we could have electric blankets and how much power they would use. I feel if you have a good feather and down duvet use a jersey sheets electric over blanket and the duvet on top. Pop blanket on 3 for one hour before bed, then turn it off before you go to bed, you would stay warm all night. While still having the option of turning it back on on seriously cold nights.

You are most likely correct when you say that using the delta 2 connected to the solar panel to run your heater for a bit and then the electric blanket through the night and then the electric heater again in the morning is a good solution. When you switch your heater on in the morning, the solar panel will probably be charging the ecoflow, so you will have a little more power than is displayed.

We have a tent trailer and even in the summer my husband swears by his electric blanket. I, on the other hand, sleep at the other end with all of the windows open! Last trip it got down to 2C and I still had the windows open and he had his electric blanket running inside of his sleeping bag. Bonus of a tent trailer, we sleep at opposite ends and heat comfort level! First time watching, you’re quite entertaining! Cheers from Hanna, Alberta, Canada.

@@Adz I am the original guy who created overunity monmy name is Lloyd G stovo I created the word and the science behind it. It is called v Over one in physics, 2 points to go to 1 or 1 point that goes to 2. Without even realizing it you're using something that is very important. Now if you did not realize you can take that 1 source of energy Bixby which one represents put it in 2 The wish goes to different sources but if you put an automatic switch that bounces back at 60 Hz or 60 times a second then you can run 2 things for the same amount of energy , keep in mind light bulbs do not shine light directly they flicker sometimes a camera can pick up on this point your camera at ATV and you'll see the for the green light. You can use this effect too run something or multiple things at the same energy level you're putting out from the source I hope this gives you an understanding over unity goes so much deeper and will save you so much energy , when you do it the opposite way it lets you Charge 2 batteries For the same amount of energy If you live in a Van this is so helpful.

As well as the electric blanket, which I used prior to me getting a diesel heater in the van. In the cold weather, when I am out and about, or even in the house when I am alone and want to save on the heating, by not putting the central heating on, I use an electrically heated waistcoat from amazon, fed from a small power brick. they are great. Outside, you need an outside wind cheating layer as well to keep the heat from being blown away. It is a good way of helping to defeat that little bald bloke in the Kremlin as well.

Ive been wanting to install a diesel heater in my odyssey minivan for awhile now. Its on my list when i have a few extra pennies to blow. I saw a guy on youtube install one in his rv and he did a live test of it in minus 5°c & it brought the temp up to 21°c within an hr or so. The guy was so impressed w how well it worked that he ripped out the propane furnace that came w the rv and used the exisitng furnace ducting w the diesel heater. After that vid I was sold on it. Im not handy so will have to have it installed by a professional. What kind of diesel heater do u have & what kind of rig do u have? R u impressed w it and do u have any recommendations for installation? Brand? Tips? New to van life and slowly building out my rig so appreciate any tips I can get from people.

Back in the 70’s van camping used calor gaz and 12 volt lights. Now everyone has electronics and modern electrical systems. In Canada I have a GMC 3500 HD pickup with a truck camper on it, my truck has twin alternators with two starter batteries on a 6.6 litre diesel. There is a DC to DC charger charging 4 lithium 100 AH batteries in the camper, plus two inverters. On top of the camper is 3 -100 watt panels to complement the system. For AC I use a icy breeze unit when needed.

Well, what I did in my Transit is connecting a solar charge controller to the two main batteries and from these I'm recharging my power station (through a voltage watch device). The max output of the power station is far greater than that of the ports in the car (due to wiring and fuses) and it can put out AC. The power station constantly gets recharged by the main batteries until the power is cut off before the main batteries are drained too much but these get reloaded either while driving or by the PV panel when standing. I got a 130Wp panel up on the roof, the power station would only accept 60W of it but this way I can use all of it in summer and still got enough in the winter. In summer most power goes to the fridge, in winter to the heating blanket on the bed. ;-)
@Adz
@Adz Жыл бұрын
Sounds like a decry set up you got there! I’ve now added a power line from my inverter to the ecoflow, and I input 300w to the ecoflow when driving so that does the job when the sun isn’t out

I leave my Bluette charging off a cigarette socket at about 60w, So trickle over 10hrs will charge it .That is connected to my leisure battery via the solar charge controller. So in effect the solar panel and driving is charging both at the same time until both are full. So the leisure battery will take the maximum given, and so the leisure led acid will spend most of the time fully charged . And so will be more healthy for it. while the Bluetti will take the deep discharges cycles better with it's Lifo4 tec. So no need to have 4 way switch .I also have a 12v electric blanket with 3 heat settings and 3 on timer settings.
@Adz
@Adz Жыл бұрын
I was going to do that too but the cigarette socket in the eco flow takes 100w and those sockets tend to get hot pulling 100w so I didn’t want it on constantly. But I now do something similar. When I’m driving I send 300w from my inverter to my ecoflow so that charges it up fairly quickly

Thing is I wouldn’t want to recommend electrical wiring when I’m not qualified. But I’d recommend watching Greg Virgoe for anything like that. As for the switch though that’s really simple. The solar panels positive wire goes into the common connection and then 2 positives come out. 1 goes to the leisure battery charger and one goes to the ecoflow. And then the negatives all go to the common earth block

You know, I was just looking on Amazon for small space heaters, under 500 watts, that still have thermostats, and they still don't have many. I only saw one, a plug in one. That's too bad, because you want to control the temp, even for a small space heater. They should make more. - But maybe you could set up a timer that it runs 15 minutes an hour, while you sleep.
@Adz
@Adz Жыл бұрын
I was thinking of a timer but the only sort of heater I'd be happy having on when I sleep is a radiator. And the electric blanket (but only one's that are specifically designed for over night use). Or possibly an infrared heater but I'd have to look into the safety of those 1st
@saratemp790
@saratemp790 Жыл бұрын
@@Adz I actually think a good electric space heater is safer than an electric blanket. Because the blanket gets all wrapped up and twisted. I slept with my e space heater on for years, never had a problem. I kept it on low, with thermostat. That's what I mean, they have low wattage heaters now, but I see few have thermostats on them. Because the thermostat cycles it off and on, so it doesn't overheat. The safest would be low wattage, like 300, with on off cycles.
@Adz
@Adz Жыл бұрын
Yeah it depends on your space I suppose but for me, any heater with an exposed element isn’t safe because there’s a chance my duvet will touch it in the night. And yeah I know what you mean about the blankets, but my one cuts off automatically if it gets folded or twisted so it should be all good

Thanks! So the solar positive wire goes into the common connection on the switch. Then the positive comes out of the 1 and 2 positions. 1 goes to my ctek charger and 2 goes to my ecoflow. The negatives (from the panel, the ctek and the ecoflow) all go to the common earth block which is grounded in the van

Why would you not just install a 12v socket directly to you leisure battery and have that plugged into your power station? Solar panel keeps charging your battery which charges your power station?
@Adz
@Adz Жыл бұрын
I don’t really like taking 100w from a cigarette lighter socket long term. They seem to get hot and if it was plugged in for hours I wouldn’t trust it. What I have done though is add a 300w line from my inverter to the ecoflow and I turn that on only when driving. But if I can take as much solar as possible 1st and put it directly into the ecoflow it saves the use of the leisure battery (it’s only an agm so won’t last forever). I did think about making a new lead without the cigarette socket and just go directly from the leisure to the xt60 plug but if I’m taking from the leisure battery I’d rather use a higher wattage and get the charging done quicker whilst I drive I think mate

I did actually speak about this in the video but the clip didn’t make the edit. I was saying that you can get 12v ones that would technically be more efficient as you say. But personally I’ve not found one that doesn’t have reviews saying they’ve overheated/caught fire etc. and 12v plugs tend to get hot too, so personally I wouldn’t trust them whilst I sleep. I don’t think they have the same safety features as the mains ones by big brands. Which is partly why I cut the clip out because I didn’t want to be mentioning a product that people might buy if I feel they’re not as safe. If there’s a 12v one made by a reputable company though and it looks quality then I’d look into trying one

OK 2 small things for fun. first, electric blankets are ok but you lose heat upwards from them. so you often want a blanket OVER Them too. on the flip side. you can get a heated mattress pad, these things you lay on, and warm you from below. they are great, keep you as warm if not warmer then the blanket does, and often have ton more settings and options then just the blanket . Now as to power stations. Again there are a ton of options there. one interesting option i found though was... Ryobi. Ryobi makes all sorts of power tools, chain saws, lawn mowers etc. With that they have a 40v power packs. Well thats nice but.. so what right? Well Ryobi recently added a 300 watt inverter to their product line, so you could pull the power pack off your chain saw and plug it into this, and have a 300 watt powerpack. and carry spare batteries with you if you need more charge. They also have a large version which takes up to 4 powerpacks, with up to 1800 watts of power. but for small applications the single 300 watt is more then useful. Now there are some poeple who have even mounted the Ryobi powerpacks to ebikes. now think about that for a second. Ebike using a ryobi power pack, pulling a mini bike camper, with solar panel and... ryobi power charger, and the little 300 ryobi inverter inside to power the lights and such.

Hi, thanks for the comment! Yeah I have a duvet over the top of the blanket to keep the heat in. The under blankets would be great but they’re not supposed to be used on memory foam, thin mattresses, or soft mattresses (because they shouldn’t get creased)… also my mattress is a small double so there isn’t one to fit. But yeah I’m my house, an under blanket would be ideal! And yeah I’ve seen the e bikes with those ryobi batteries! Looks like fun haha. But it could never compare to an ecoflow. The ecoflows charge speed is crazy. And they have so many sockets, plus an app. And the new ones are rated at 3000 charge cycles! And I’m pretty sure the actually battery is 48v but runs at 12v, and this keeps the heat in the cables right down. And the inverter on my delta 2 will run appliances up to 2400w which is pretty good!
@jenniferstewarts4851
@jenniferstewarts4851 Жыл бұрын
@@Adz no batteries are 40v for ryobi allowing for insane charge speeds. its between a 1 and 3 hour charge time from dead... depending on the amps of the battery. for the small 160 watt hr battery, its 1 hour. the 480 watt hour is about 2.5 hours. so yeah, you could plug in a 160 watt hr battery into the 300 watt supply, charge small things with that, pull it out, put in the big 480, plug your banket in and sleep for hours :) Its an interesting system they created. and for people that already have the batteries, buying the inverter... gives you a lot of flexablity and options... your not just using them at home anymore... or if there's a power failure you can pull teh battery from say, your mower, to power your lights and such.
@Adz
@Adz Жыл бұрын
Yeah I mean it’s definitely a good idea then having an inverter. But my delta max for example is 2000wh and that charges in 1.4 hours. I mean it’s great if you already have the tools and batteries but buying from scratch it just can’t compare to a proper power station
@jenniferstewarts4851
@jenniferstewarts4851 Жыл бұрын
@@Adz yep, and when you're running the 1800 watt generator, thats 4x powerpacks you have to charge, now sure, you can charge them all at once, but still 2.5 hours for 1920 wh. But again, if your ebike also uses the same batteries, for weekenders going out on widepath trips around the UK... along the canals using a bike teardrop. it works. if you are starting from scratch and just looking for a 1 piece unit... Jackery's aren't bad.
