Is there a coupe version, grand coupe are too square looking. Oh dear, the pictures leading up to this moment are stunning. The white futuristic concept car looked amazing, this is nothing like it. I was holding back buying a car for this, what a waste of time.

This "sort-of kind-of" "not exactly handsome" car is so disappointing. I was expecting something that lived up to the hype of the last two years. I wasn't expecting the i4 to just be the electric motor option of the frumpy 4 series Gran Coupe. Marketing 101 teaches not to set expectations beyond a level that you cannot fulfill -- a classic mistake when marketing runs open loop while management is on a cost-cutting binge. Offering an electric motor along with some cliché blue bits here and there show's BMW is only half-in on the move to electric vehicles -- that's bad for BMW's future. Similarly, BMW's announcement that they're not moving away from ICE again shows that they're only half-in. Given the half-hearted reveal for this car, in boring white, and the apparent abandoning of the new IBM emblem that was to herald a new era, it seems that there has been some turmoil in upper management at BMW and the old school types have won. For me this completely changes my new car plans -- replacing my 2015 M4. While I was hoping to jump at the opportunity to be the first on the block with an I4, I'm abandoning those plans and switching gears to save up for an Audi E-Tron GT instead. At least Audi seemed to find a way to make the real car as good as the concept.

Yes, the transition from concept to reality really took a dip this time around.

Not about "concept", about century old German engineering firm elektrifying their entire model range as they become ONLY manufacturer to produce ICE, BEV, PHEV, Diesel & hydrogen. Congratulations on your Ford coproduction BEV, VW need the revenue for their Dieselgate fines, liabilities & class actions. Meanwhile, 3 manufacturers in 2 largest mandated BEV markets have signed with BMW (Tata JLR, Brilliance & Great Wall, Geely wanted to, were refused & stealth purchased chunk of Daimler as consolation, why failed Smart is returning as Chinese BEV).

I dont know what you‘re talking about. Most people (including me) think the design of the official car (not the concept car) looks much better than the tesla, I like the big grill, but I didn‘t like it at the beginning with the new 7-series. But this is a very solid EV, with a range of 600 kilometers and the price in my country will be almost the same as the tesla model 3. They will also make an M version of this car and they already have an electric SUV (BMW iX) with also 600 km range. I don‘t see how BMW could fail with this. But I think the prediction that we will mostly see plug-in hybrid cars in the next ten years is based on the fact that most countries in europe will ban regular gas cars in this time period, and I see more and more hybrid cars on the street. Not that many people are interested in getting a fully electric car yet, because hybrid cars are still very efficient und perfect for daily use if you can charge them at home, I‘m very happy with my A3 e-tron.
