Good reaction. You are clearly familiar with Electric Callboy already, so welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 BABYMETAL are so versatile that they can collaborate with pretty much anybody and make it work and make it work well. They will fit in with their style and they make it look and sound almost effortless ... it takes a lot of hard work, talent and professionalism to make it look so easy. This collaboration was actually BABYMETAL's idea - they were wanting to make a song that would be pure fun, one that people could dance along with like Electric Callboy's 'We Got The Moves' but they felt something was missing. They decided to ask EC if they would like to be involved so they went to see EC playing in Boston (they were both there at the same time last year) and met up backstage with them before the show. 'RATATATA' was the result. After a lot of back and forth and over 20 rewrites and variations etc they finally agreed on this final version. It is a straight 50-50 collaboration, but it is very much in the EC style. BABYMETAL started young (they were 12 and 11) in 2010. 14 years on and they are one of the very best live bands, plus they are original and unique, you won't find another band quite like them or doing what they do. They are not your traditional metal band where the singer spends most of his time vomiting into the mic. They brought melody back to metal - and they introduced choreographed dance (but not as you may know it from pop acts etc where it is just a distraction). Their choreo is bespoke for each song, usually interpretive and relating to the meaning of the song or a lyric, but most importantly it is aimed at hyping, engaging with and involving the crowd. They have about 70 songs now, each one different to the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre, but they will also mix and blend so many more musical styles and genres with the metal. Some songs are good hard metal, some lean towards their J-pop roots (they are Japanese, so no K-pop, that is Korean and it is different) and they do everything in between (plus the odd thing completely out of the box). It will take you at least 3 or 4 different song to begin to grasp what they do ... and then they will completely throw you with the next song. The official videos are all good, some should almost be compulsory viewing, but live is where you will always see and most importantly hear them at their best. Here are a couple of suggestions for you (the last one is special): - 'Megitsune' live at PIA Arena April 2023 (one of their earlier songs, still one of the best and a big fan favourite) or live at Legend MM March 2024. - 'Monochrome' also live at PIA Arena April 2023 'Road of Resistance' live in Japan official (from 2015) or live at PIA Arena 2023 - 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere UK 2014 - their very first time in the UK aged 16 and 15, virtually unknown apart from a shock factor video that had gone viral ('Gimme Chocolate' - I would suggest leave that until you are a few songs in) and on the main stage at their first metal festival and first major event outside of Japan. They had 25 minutes, just 5 songs, to try to win over 50k+ UK metalheads while singing in Japanese. IDZ was the last song of the set - listen for the crowd at the end as the girls walk off stage.

This isn't a "featuring" collab, as your title indicated; it's a full 50/50 collaboration, and the official video is actually hosted on BABYMETAL's channel. BABYMETAL blends J-pop (J not K, as they are Japanese not Korean) and heavy metal. Instrumentally, BABYMETAL goes a whole lot heavier into metal than Electric Callboy, with their backing band playing every genre of metal from industrial to thrash to power metal and even death metal. They do also have a death growler in their newest member Momometal (Momoko Okazaki), who was on the left of your screen. During the breakdown in this song, she screams the second "Are you ready?" and screams the "Everybody" lines at the end with Kevin from Electric Callboy.

@@arnodobler1096 in fact, no… the initial concept and song was BABYMETAL… they later asked EC to contribute, which became a 50/50 collaboration..
@dnocturn84
@dnocturn84 Ай бұрын
@@MRDARKTURKEY That's also very wrong. Su clearly said it in an interview. They were inspired by Electric Callboys song "We Got The Moves" and wanted to create something similar that they can dance to and celebrate with their fans. They tried to make that song, but weren't happy with their results. So they asked Electric Callboy, if they were interested in a collaboration. They then met EC in Boston, to discuss the details, make plans and to watch their live show. THEN Electric Callboy wrote the first iteration, the first demo of that song - it's initial parts, the riff and some lyrics were all made from scratch by EC. No Babymetal involvment in the beginning. Then this material was sent to Japan and they added their lyrics, changed lots of stuff ... they send it back and forth up to 20+ times, until this song was finished. They didn't just "contribute later" - this song started in EC headquaters and was finished in a huge collaborative effort.
@MRDARKTURKEY

@garykeeling2275
@garykeeling2275 Ай бұрын
@@dnocturn84 None of that makes it "clearly EC" (as @arnodobler1096 claimed). That's actually how full collaborations work when the contributors are working from different countries. Both sides contribute ideas, and it doesn't have anything to do with who submitted their part first. BABYMETAL concieved of the collab and initiated it. EC contributed their musical idea first. BABYMETAL made changes to it and added their own ideas. BABYMETAL was working on their own instrumental ideas at the same time, and some of those appear in the final mix. The music, lyrics, composition were all co-equal contributions. Some of EC's original ideas and some of BABYMETAL's original ideas made the final mix, both lyrically and musically. Schillobros only produced and directed the video, not the song itself. The list of producers, songwriters and lyricists includes numerous people from both band's creative teams. And going back to @arnodobler1096's comment that all the music is "clearly EC," I can only guess that he (or she, not sure) has never listed to the body of BABYMETAL's work, becase this kind of blend of metal, EDM and dance pop is exactly what they do, from the very first album and first two singles ("Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine").. If you were to replace the male vocals with female, this song would be practically a perfect fit on just about any of their albums.

I understand why someone who doesn't know about Babymetal would be confused about what they do, just by watching this video. I've lost count of how many times reactors have assumed Babymetal are J-pop artists singing and dancing over metal, because of this and gimmie chocolate. But they are not J-pop artists, and Su isn't a J-pop singer. They look and sound 'similar' to J-pop atrists, but they're not. They are the first metal artists/performers, to fuse J-pop with metal, and incorporate dancing. They are idols, but they are still metal. They are their own thing. I'm sure you will explore more, and i have a feeling you will love them.

Welcome to the Foxhole!! (Babymetal version of the rabbithole) Babymetal is a Japanese Cute Metal group that blends J-Pop and Metal. But they are definitely not afraid to blend other genres as well. They started when they were 11 and 10 years old and now in their 20s, still going strong after 10 years. Next one I would suggest: Babymetal - "iine" (often mistaken as "Line") This is their 2nd ever song and has been said that they referenced Electric Callboy when it was made. I recommend the music video for this one, but know that Babymetal is always better live. Anyway, enjoy! 🦊🦊🦊

J-Pop... it´s J-Pop, NOT K-Pop 🤣 You heard some less J-Pop-y thing from BABYMETAL already... the second "Are you ready??" and the "Everybody!!" (with cut to Momometal in the video!) growls are done by Momometal 😉 Her real name is Momoko Okazaki, and she´s the youngest, but tallest 😉, member of BABYMETAL, officially since April 2023. She did choreo support (without singing, as she wasn´t a full member back then) for BABYMETAL since 2019. BABYMETAL´s main singer is Su-Metal, real name Suzuka Nakamoto. She will blow you away with her vocal abilities, promise! The third lady is Moametal, real name Moa Kikuchi. She is a founding member of BABYMETAL and the most stunning person, if it comes to live performances and the crowd work😉 And she´s a great singer, too! You want to watch some more BABYMETAL, and on the "harder" side? You could try - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! - Live at Legend 1997 (2013) to see them quite early in their career, and with Yuimetal (real name Yui Mizuno, she left BABYMETAL in 2018 due to health issues). If it should be a more recent live performance, you could try - Road Of Resistance - Live at PIA Arena MM 2023, or Live at Legend MM 2024 Important: whatever you watch next from BABYMETAL, always go with live performances, unless BABYMETAL fans specifically recommend a certain MV. BABYMETAL is a live performance project, live is where they truly shine! Avoid compilations, if possible.

I fortunately witnessed the live debut and the second performance of RATATATA by BABYMETAL and Electric Callboy together in the two-day Fox_Fest on May 25 / 26 in Japan this year. Fun, happy, exhilarating, bubbly... Those words I could think of, as you can imagine. There were many mosh / circle pits over there 🤣. Bring me the Horizon was great the official live video is very slick. Give me chocolate from Su's 16th birthday concert is great. The other two girls were only 14 and they were already performing in front of big crowds. One of the later Headbanger live clips shows the whole (massive crowd) kneeling down and worshipping her. Babymetal is the fusion of J-pop with dance elements and a metal Band, that concisted mostly with Jazz musicians. The reason for this projectvwas the rather stale japanese Metal industry of this time. The musicians and fans got older and older and were pure male. So Kobametal decided to do something against it. He had access to young girls since he was the best handler of a talent agency. Although they did everything against him he Entertainer his girls so good that they went with him through every possible hardship and learned to handle a kind of music that originally frightened them. And with some luck they came to a giant music festival. What they didn't knew Metallica had found and observed them and gave raving review about this totally uncommon Band. For a japanese Group totally uncommon they earned a lot of their money not in Japan but in the US and Europe. So they were the internationally most successful japanese Band. There were Groups on Japan that were bigger but in general all this Groups were totally unknown outside of Japan. And so they pretty much changed how the metal music production worked. The result is the current japanese metal industry that contains a lot of female metal Bands. They were the real reason for this Song. They knew Electric Callboy for Years while for them Babymetal were a kind of japanese Demigods, so nico and Kevin had the trouble how do you speak with a Godess? When they offered them a 50 50 Collab they were totally overwhelmed But the project had trouble. Normally they are finished in version 7. In this case they saw an end in Version 22. In fact they finished the song at the second day of the video shooting. In fact Electric callboy wanted to end this shoot at the second day but the Schillow Brothers and Ba.etal said we make a third day. They had no Script and no budget but they made one of the most succesfull MusicVideos of Babymetal. And in fact this is the most successful Song of Babymetal or Electric Callboy.

Babymetal in ways can actually be harder hitting than Electric Callboy, even if their vocals are not. They are first and foremost a live band as I believe I've mentioned in a comment from your first EC reaction a couple months ago. They have choreographed dances for every one of their songs that are all unique to the song. Which they do throughout the entirety of their live performances. Road of Resistance Live in Japan and Headbanger Live @ Legend 1997 are good first intro songs to them so I would suggest either one of those two which I'll link in a reply.

As the "metal" part of their name suggests, they are pretty heavy. The three front women are known for their choreography and dancing to heavy music. At first, when they were just kids, Yui(metal), Moa(metal), and Su(metal) had a fake backing band in skeleton outfits, that didn't play their instruments. Later on, they got a real backing band, called the Kami Band, consisting of some of Japans best metal musicians. Yui left Babymetal some years ago, and has since been replaced with Momo(metal), who, if I'm not mistaken, does some growling at the very end of this song. Before Yui left, she and Moa sometimes did songs without Su, calling themselves Black Babymetal (Sis. Anger for example), and sometimes Su did songs by herself (Rondo of Nightmare for example). Their latest album "The Other One" released in 2023, is worth a listen. As for Ratatata, if it doesn't make you move at least a little, you might want to check if you have a pulse 😆

You've never seen Babymetal by themselves?? You don't know what you're missing! Others will flood you with a million great suggestions (they're all great), but my preference would be to begin near the beginning with some of the songs of theirs which have become staples of their concerts: - Headbanger: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2PZpn6FoslkoNU&pp=ygUiYmFieW1ldGFsIGhlYWRiYW5nZXIgbGl2ZSBpbiBqYXBhbg%3D%3D - Road of Resistance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIWoioh8nLGpm7s&pp=ygUcYmFieW1ldGFsIHJvYWQgb2YgcmVzaXN0YW5jZQ%3D%3D - Megitsune: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXyWf4CQdrp-fdk&pp=ygUTYmFieW1ldGFsIG1lZ2l0c3VuZQ%3D%3D - Karate: kzbin.info/www/bejne/faenZHZ-dplrpqM&pp=ygUQYmFieW1ldGFsIGthcmF0ZQ%3D%3D These are songs that came from their first and second albums, when they had Yui with them (long story). Note that some of those links are to live versions and some to music videos, but those are the particular performances I'd have you start with. They have been through a lot, and since 2023 they have rejuvenated with new sounds, collaborations and performances. But if you start with the basics, those are all songs that remain fan favourites, and are almost always included in current live events.

Sure, because it is an entirely different thing they do. Even their basic concept is different. The only things that they got in common are that both orbit the metal genre more than others and that they mix/combine genres with their music. It is of course ok to have a different taste than others - one of the best traits of being human, to be quite honest. Don't let haters tell you otherwise, just love the music what you want to love. Your heart will tell you when you're right and it of course resonates with good music!
