Testing out an electric powered Evolution Concrete Demolition Saw.
Saws shown in the video:
Evolution Electric Saws:
R300DCT+ water dust control: amzn.to/3Y7CLWt
R300DCT w/12" blade: amzn.to/3SerboM
R255DCT w/10" blade: amzn.to/3s9WCX0
R230DCT w/9" blade: amzn.to/3ggjiC6
Hilti Gas dsh700 Saw: amzn.to/3IbVjjb
Husqvarna Gas Saw: amzn.to/3YapGM6
MY THOUGHTS of the Evolution Concrete Saw DISCCUT1
It's impressive and keeps up with my gas saws. It comes with a blade and new blades are pretty cheap( amzn.to/2CM8i99 ) compared to my 14"ones on the gas saw. The clutch starts to slip on the gas saws on heavy cutting pressure unlike the electric unit which never slips. It is a must to run this with a good 12awg extension cord(50ft or less) and 20amp breaker outlet. Time will tell which one becomes my favorite. I have since upgraded to the R300DCT+ because it has water and keeps the dust to zero.
PROs:
-Lighter than Gas
-No Gas Fumes
-No Maintenance
-Vacuum Dust Extraction
-Includes Blade
-Smaller for better maneuverability
-Direct Gear/shaft drive so no slipping belts/clutch
-HIGH torque
-Cheap
CONs:
-No water hookup
-Smaller blade 12"(305mm) which offers 1/2"(13mm) less cutting depth vs 14"(355mm)blade
-Needs Power(grid power or generator)
-No roller wheels

I use one on a daily basis, had it for 2 years now with no issues, the rubber grip is wearing off the handle but thats to be expected. It does not blow breakers, quite the opposite its one of the few tools i have with soft start. I wouldn't go back to a petrol saw ever again, even if I have no power I keep a generator in the truck anyway. The only bad thing I could possibly say about it is the large handle makes it difficult to cut up against a wall as you mentioned.

Thanks, this is a really helpful video. I'm looking for something for occasional use whilst renovating my house, cutting through brick and blockwork, mostly, but also the odd bit of concrete, and trimming of steel lintels to length. I think this will probably fit the bill, and I'll certainly be happier using something that doesn't emit fumes indoors. Thanks again!

My local Canadian tire has this saw on clearance for $174 thought I’d come here first and see if it’s worth it….I’m buying it now! Haha Update: Bought the saw $197 taxes in. Got it home started cutting up my concrete side walk and concrete curb. No issues so far, I’ve done about 25 cuts. I’m about 3/8ths finished this thing cuts concrete and reinforced concrete. Very minimal vibration, simple to use not overly dusty (I was expecting more) perhaps the blade it’s using is not as dusty? Idk I’m impressed. The quote to have my side walk cut out was $2800 I believe I will have to buy at least 1 more blade maybe 2 but they are like $70 a pop $45 for the cheapies. I recommend this saw.

I have seen guys using these on street construction jobs and none of them ever used a vacuum and I don't even think they used a mask. I always felt sorry for them. A long time ago I read a story about a bank that was robbed by guys who tunneled under the bank and broke through the floor of the vault on a Sunday. I bet they used one of these for the floor. The funny part about the robbery was vibrations tripped an alarm and police came and the robbers got scared and left but they did not know there was no way to open the vault until Monday and no one knew there was a tunnel.

great review im really torn if i should invest in the evolution tools or just jump straight to the pro grade stuff i got the 10" miter saw that cuts steel and wood i feel like i should of gotten a milwuakee 14" instead as i do a decent amount of heavy steel, im sure you could whip up a handle out of some steel piping right quick with a factory look, maybe some plasti-dip or rubberized truck bed spray to give it a nicer grip! wonder how a 2500watt genset feels about running it, probably some voltage/power loss there but will get the job done

Nothing beats a Milwaukee, Dewalt, Makita tool. But that stuff is meant to be used everyday on the job and last 5-10 years. It will last a weekend warrior 30years but by that time what new stuff has come along and how outdated is that 30yr old tool? The orange Evolution tools are way better than any Harbor freight stuff but not as refined as the top brands(70-80% as good). The blue Evolution tools are their top of the line and I would say 90% as good as top brands. The orange 10" sliding miter saw from Evolution I would say it meant more to do wood. There's quit a bit of trade off with a dual purpose tool and I have cut a fair amount of metal on it but feel like I'm pushing it. There's a lot of bang for your buck in that tool. My choice for metal projects is the Evolution Evosaw380($380w/blade) or the 14" RAGE2($200w/blade). Both cut about the same, the blue Evosaw380 is just a little more well built and come with a nicer blade. Both cut 3-4x better than the Evolution 10" miter saw.
@AndrewBrowner
@AndrewBrowner 5 жыл бұрын
@@sixtyfiveford for sure im heavy into milwuakees 18v line, tend to buy higher priced tools as theyre a joy to use even if i dont get the full life out of them the orange 10" saw works pretty good but spins a bit fast for steel, for 200$ CAD on sale id recommend it as a secondary saw tho as it can do compound cuts and slides to like a 14" cut width which you dont get on any other saw

There are a few people that commented they have used this saw in excess of a year without any issues. The concrete dust is nasty stuff and the killer of gas versions so it will likely eventually have it's toll on this electric version.
@1fanger
@1fanger 5 жыл бұрын
The only limitations are, indeed, tripping the breakers if you draw too many amps, the unwieldy power cord and underpowered electric motor. If it does what you want it to do, it is worth it. Don`t know about water, unless the motor is double insulated and totally sealed so the water can`t short out. With 2- stroke oil and gas prices being what they are, non- pros who don`t get reimbursed for the fuel are ahead, cost- wise.
@AndrewBrowner
@AndrewBrowner 5 жыл бұрын
non pros wont really use enough fuel for it to be a factor cost wise, you can run a couple hours of heavy cutting on a few liters of fuel, with occasional use the 4x initial cost will never be over taken by fuel costs, and blades arent cheap especially if youre cutting random stuff here and there with god knows what in it the way a home gamer would seems like a sweet deal to me much prefer electric to gas when available with adequate power could pickup a generator or an inverter for the truck and still be under the cost of a gas job saw
@sixtyfiveford
@sixtyfiveford 5 жыл бұрын
It was a completely different beast to run. I can stall out(make clutch/belts slip) on the Hilti 700x and the Husqvarna; not so on the electric it just kept digging. I'm sure it was pulling a lot of amps(had it on a 20amp breaker+25ft 12awg cord) and it didn't blow a breaker. I would say it's easily 2-3x more powerful than the gas unit at bog down rpm. However if you have 30feet straight line to cut the 10000rpms of the Gas Saw blade is going to do more work faster. Cutting some bricks, doing a bunch of different angles, etc where you would set down the saw and not shut it off are great for the electric as it shuts off every time you release the trigger.

I have a 9" angle grinder and I have to use 7" discs on it as that's all I can find as well. That's why I like the demolition saws as the 14" cut off discs are readily available.
