I grew up at the track, my dad raced, by brother raced and of course so did I. The smell of spent 2stroke fuel and the sound... BRRRRAG! BRRRRAP! literally warms my soul. The feeling I get is near indescribable. That being said, as sad as I am to say, petrol is dead. Now that batteries have come to the point where they are and just keep getting better, the instant torque WOW! You could see his acceleration being hampered by traction off the line keeping him from leaving them all right there. That first lap it was clear to see he just needed enough space to keep traction and he'll fly right by which he did. New era of speed we're entering with cars and bikes... an amazing time indeed. Thrilled I get to see it!

The power is instant, there’s no gears so don’t even worry about remembering what gear you’re in throughout the race and what gear you need to be in to hit a certain jump or rhythm, no clutch on your start and to feather your throttle in corners. Mentally they’re so much easier to ride. I love all my bike and scooter, but if you allow them to run against gas the sport will die.

4 strokes took over so the electric bikes could do the same. As the guy mentioned above the 2 strokes now have to race a class higher which is just ridiculous. The only issue I have with a 4 stroke is the sound. The 2 strokes sound so much better and the sound is critical to the fan base as well as small kids who will be the future of motocross. An electric bike is silly but there will be someone out there that likes them. This goes to show we can’t drift far from what a true race bike should be. Hell they restricted the sport for the damn 4 stroke making their own classes and making two strokes step up to the next class. Such crap and the reason so many have no interest anymore and not gaining new fans. The sport is a tough blue collar sport yet the bikes are not affordable to them so the bikes from the beginning are falling into the hands of the wrong kids. Middle class and poor kids need a chance to ride and race
@zackk695 Жыл бұрын
@terracer I tell you that the two strokes are far superior than any 4 stroke. This is way they make them race a class up and restricted the pro class to 250 and 450 now. I really don’t have an answer but I know it’s not the EPA because after some research it was Honda and Yamaha pushing these 4 strokes and why I don’t know because Honda had the best 2 stroke ever. I turned my back on motocross in the mid 2000’s and next thing you know all the 2 strokes were gone. It was sickening. If the EPA was behind this then they wouldn’t be making 2 strokes still which they still do. The other issue is no one wants to buy them only to have to race a class up which is not fair and just stupid when you think about it. If it’s a 250 then it should race the 250 class period. Also if you think of all racing the EPA can’t do anything to them such as all car racing and also superbikes and all those out out a heck of a lot more fuel in the air

Personally they seem like fun but a race of whisper quiet bikes, just wouldn't attract me to a day at the races. Also part of the emotion of racing is the sound. I'm an Old 2 Stroke guy who use to race in the 80's and saw the introduction of 4 strokes and 2 strokes fazed out. We use to have a 4 stroke class where people mainly raced YZ two stroke frames with XR Honda motors, long before the companies were making four stroke racers, my point is that we had a separate class for 4 strokes as the main bikes were two strokes, I think Electric bikes should have their own class, we should though bring back 2 strokes, perhaps race 380cc 2's against the 450cc 4's

Just imagine if they were all electric, it would be the quietest dirt bike race in history😂😂😂

It would be boring to watch.

Im always gonna be a 4 stroke person no matter what but this thing looks fun
@alanbarlow2514 Жыл бұрын
For this race the bike was actually dialled down to match the horsepower of the four strokes. If this was cranked up to its max the gap would be ridiculous. Hard pill to swallow for us but it looks like this may be the very near future. Its a sad day for Mx

I don’t think its’s necessarily a sad day, this may be faster, but motorsport, for most people, js about fun, not performance, and the level of fun that ICE provides will never be matched.

Were you making 4 stroke noises in your head on the start? lol

Getting beat is one thing... Many of those guys got lapped by an electric bike! Gotta say,. That was some good riding, though. He was patient riding in second place, and just waiting for the right time, not getting too aggressive to pass and crashing.

As the batteries drain, the "force" they deliver diminishes while their weight stays the same. Fueled bikes get lighter as the tank drains, delivering the same power throughout.

No need to be upset. Now you have a 3rd choice when it comes to dirtbikes. 4 stroke, 2 stroke or electric.

4eva 4stroker. Mid-range hog heaven flying with style, confidence, and swagger. Anyone ridding 2stroke is on a 125 with aftermarket parts buzzing eardrums from a mile and half out. 👏😮💨 🤤that dirt throwing machine of mercurial beauty. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 🤓😙😏

Please don't let electric bikes take over. The sound and the smell of racing fuel is part of the mx experience. Ahhhh!!!!

I still prefer my CR 250 2 stroke. Yes I've had 4 strokes, several.
