It's really amazing. My semester is about to start and I have bought the books but the content is not getting in my head. Your video fulfilled the concept successfully in my head. Thank you so much sir.

Dear author, first thank you for a great basic EDM presentation. But as an EDM expert I must point out, that the most common polarization of the electrode is positive. Thus, the workpiece is polarized negatively. This is always true for rough machining. Only in finishing operations to achieve very smooth surface (and using very short discharge duration) the polarity switches. To my opinion, presenting the regular polarization of the electrode to be negative is misleading.

I learned in the books that the tool is connected to positive terminal and the piece to the negative one. Am I wrong?!
@ADTWstudy Жыл бұрын
No, in EDM, the tool is typically made of a conductive material (e.g. copper or graphite) and is used to shape or cut the workpiece. When the tool is negatively charged and brought close to the workpiece, electrical discharges can occur between the tool and the workpiece, creating tiny craters or eroding the material in a controlled way. Secondly, the polarity of the EDM power supply can affect the shape and quality of the cut. When the tool is connected to the negative terminal, it can create a "reverse" spark erosion effect, which can result in finer surface finishes and sharper corners compared to when the tool is connected to the positive terminal. However, the specific effects of connecting the tool to the negative terminal will depend on the specific EDM setup and parameters, so it's important to consult the manufacturer's instructions or an expert in EDM to ensure proper use and safety.
