I don't think it's welding. it looks like a plasma cleaner, which would probably be used to remove impurities which would be for performance reasons.

VERRY IMRESSIVE, but this is mutch more then only the motor, the title are a little bit misleading. Just change the title of this video to "Powerthein assembly BMW ID (just fill in with car it is first) electric".
