Ray, I have a smaller Dimplex (DFG2562) and both the fan and heater are not working. I have a new blower motor fan assembly to install later today and was glad I viewed your video. It shows me the way to access the assembly. Thanks
@raywhyte79165 жыл бұрын
Glad I could help Jess. If the new parts do not work after installing, check for the same problem I had, that was a burned out relay.

I am up and working. I called Dimplex and they walked me through what I needed to replace. The blower wheel and motor came as an assembly. I sourced the parts from Mor Electric. It think it was about $90 US including shipping. Hi Ray, So my fan/heater would come on for about 10 seconds and would shut off. I have a very similar model as this one. Took it apart and checked all connections. Seemed fine...however I checked the relay board and it looks worse than yours! Part is $42 canadian and free delivery. Should work like a charm once it is delivered. Thanks so much for the video and the clear instructions. I'd like to buy you a coffee if at all possible. Just for reference, my part is a s follows: Dimplex Replacement Part Relay Board 3001360100RP Will provide update once part comes in (up to 40 days to ship!).

How did your repair go?
@uttamdutta17623 жыл бұрын
Mr. Ray , thanks for sharing. I have one, that doesn't turn on at all. It's less than an year old and barely used it. Not worth taking to a repair shop as that might cost more than buying a new one. However if I can repair it, I can probably save labor to install a new one. Any recommendations before I decide to trash it. Thanks again.

I wish in Australia we'd have easy access to parts like you do in US. In some cases we do but they'd cost us an arm and a leg. In other cases, some DIYers do shonky adaptations, but in most cases we buy new appliances. Either way we're skinned together with our wallets.

Thank you for the video Ray. I have a Dimplex DF3003 30 inch fireplace unit that uses 6 - 60w incandescent light bulbs, making this older design operation much too warm / hot. I would like to replace those bulbs with dimmable LED bulbs. Dimplex will not offer any replacement dimmer circuit nor any circuit board. Seems to me like I could bypass the current light dimmer circuit portion and add a household rotary dial LED light dimmer switch in series with the output light wire harness. It seems that the lights wire harness are on a separate circuit. What do you think.

You got the wrong stepper motor for the reflector drive. Notice that it reverses every second time the unit powers up. Sometimes the flames appear to go up as they should, other times the appear to to go down

Saw a spark recently close to what looks like the relay board [Be Modern Detroit fire suite]. Blower and heater still work but the thermostat no longer intermittently switches the fire on and off [just stays on all the time]. Is that likely to be a bad relay, thermostat [still hear the click when manually turning the control knob] or the element gone wrong? Any advice/info appreciated.

I just unplugged the heater, waited a bit and plugged it back in. It worked fine.

Hi Ray. Thanks for the video. Well done. Wondering if you wired your flame motor backwards on you previous repair? You’d have a more realistic flame effect if the flames moved up and away from the ember bed.
@raywhyte79165 жыл бұрын
I wondered if someone would catch this. For some reason, the motor arbitrary selects a direction to go on it's own. I reversed the wiring and it made no difference. The cheap Oriental motor just does it's own thing. One time it goes the right way the next time it will go the other. Thanks for commenting.
@jeffstewart70454 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray, and thanks for the video. I think the original motor was either a CW (clockwise) or CCW (counter clockwise) , however I think you may have inadvertently installed a CW/CCW motor as a replacement, which is designed to give you a random effect, so is not suitable for a fire. The other things that needs to be checked when replacing the motor are the voltage (eg. 12v, 119v or 220v) and the RPM, as otherwise the ‘flames’ appear too slow or too quick...

Hello Ray, Not sure if you're an expert on these models or not, but I have a question. Just watched your video on repairing your Dimplex. I have similar model (DFG2562). It may be a couple years older because mine doesn't have the digital temp display like yours. Anyway, I can no longer see the dancing flame or the flicker light through the glass stones, unless the room is completely dark. Even then the light is very, very dim. When I removed all the stones, you can clearly see through the translucent plastic cover that the rotisserie is turning, and the LED light bar is on, although nowhere near as bright as yours was on the video. Do LED lights get dim over time? I didn't think they did. I thought they either worked (shined brightly), or didn't work at all. Any ideas, opinions?

You missed mentioning 1 important step, and that is to test before reassembling everything. It looks like the problem with the board may simply be a bad solder connection on the pin from the relay that connects to the terminal just above your thumb at the 10:25 mark. That corrosion you mention is a bad cleanup of the board after the parts were soldered. It is flux that they put in solder to help it flow and adhere to the metals. You could proably have replaced just the relay. They are only about $5.00 and easily purchased online.

I actually did test it before starting, I should have shown that in the video. Thanks for commenting.

I have a problem with the powe button. On the unit and with the remote. When I press it everything flashes for a second but doesn't come on. Could that be the same issue? Do all buttons have to go through the relay board?

Hi, i have a DS7490 electric fireplace That the heater and blower stops working after a couple minutes. Everything else is fine, I am assuming the thermostat is ok because it does click when turned back and forth. I can't seem to find a heating element on line for this. "HEATER ASSEMBLY 2200490400RP " would you have a cross reference for that part number and point me in the right direction?.. Thank You.. Ken

Do any owners of a "Dimplex XHD26x or PF2325HG Multi-Fire XHD Electric Firebox, 26-Inch" know how to calibrate the thermostat? It's reading the room temperature at 8-10 degrees higher than it actually is. Wasn't always like that. Thanks.

New Dimplex, I am on my third replacement unit. Same problem. Blower and heat do not work. Now they sent a blower/heater unit that I need to figure how to replace. Very disappointed in Dimplex. Is it correct that if blower does not work, no heat will come on?
@raywhyte79164 жыл бұрын
The blower and heating unit are both controlled by the same module. This is a safety feature, if the heating element works without the blower to keep the heat flowing, them the heating element would reach combustion temperature and you would have a real fireplace. You probably have a failed control module as you can see in my video as to how to replace it.

Dimplex fireplaces are made with very poor quality components likely from China. In my complex of only10-yr-old, many owners complained their units had broken down one way or another.
@FirstLast-ig5yf3 жыл бұрын
What, poor quality components from China? Yes, Dimplex should absolutely use nothing but the best American components . . . eh, also made China . . . oops . . . LOL.

I agree. Beautiful but it quit heating after about 2 months and only a handful of uses. I mainly bought it for the flame effect but it’d be nice to have heat every now and then.
@scottfirman5 жыл бұрын
I use my multimeter on ANYTHING electrical like that. Sometimes a simple check of what is going in and what is not going out is enough to tell the story. Its a good possibility the contact points stuck and welded themselves together. Normally you should still hear a mechanical click when the contact points move. Good video but still you were just guessing. Its not uncommon to find axcessive soldering flux all over everything if whomever soldered did not properly clean off the flux. In this case, you could see it could have been flux that stuck the points together. Usually the switch overheats and melts.
