We’ve had our electric fireplace for almost two years and it’s been doing this from day one. The store gave us the run around, and the manufacturer. You just fixed ours! It’s running perfectly now. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

If the heater shows E3 it's over heating to reset it by pressing the flame button for 10 seconds or until it shuts off then unplug it for a while until it cools and also make sure you have cleaned it with your shop vac with a blower to blow all the debris out and also you can use the blower part of the shop vac to help cool down the heater. This what works for me for this same model... The manual doesn't have all this detailed steps. Hope this helps anyone who has this issue.

I was having the same problem with mine for weeks. We haven’t even used it for a year. For me, I didn’t have to unplug the wires. What I found out was that the sliding door that covers the fireplace was covering part of the sensor. After I opened the door all the way, it started working properly. Most help came from the video and the comment section to get to this final result. Thanks

This did the trick! Thanks SO much : ) I have the Twin Star International 26EF023GRG I did start with "cleaning" the outside/inside and fan as well as the "restart" option on the control panel - but it kept shutting off after only a few minutes of being on - SO, your option was the best one without forfeiting the entire unit as well as the media unit it came with it. I have no clue how to actually "fix" the heat sensor, and I'm definitely not going to be buying a replacement part to even attempt it - so this is a great solution to actually just MAKE IT WORK! lol Yes, I understand the auto shut off is what keeps the unit from overheating, however, it is only on while I am teaching in the basement, so I turn it off when I am not downstairs. Furthermore, the auto shut off timer option still works just fine, and that is what I have used from the start. This made my day! Second electrical thing I've ever done in my life - woo hoo! Cheers, Alyssa

Love the video!! Saved my heater from going in the trash. Best if you would put the E5 code in title. I had a hard time finding this video. Thanks so much for the information. Our living room is warm and toasty!!!

Ahhh! Thank you❤ it finally stays ON! Ours was shutting off 30 secs after turning on every single time after owning it for barely 2 months 😅 I was having to literally turn on my oven and leave it open just to get the same heat downstairs. Thank you SO SO SO much seriously.🙏

THanks! I have the Muskoka electric fireplace and it shuts off after 2 secs since day one. I will try this fix you suggested.

Ill keep this fix in mind. My e5 trips when the doors are not all the way open, even an inch makes it go off.

That heater element that's glowing, yes it's working but, it should not be bright like that. It's overheating. Pull that limit/ proximity switch and you'll find it on Amazon/ with the numbers on the switch itself.

Does the thermostat still work after you disconnected those 2 wires? I'm getting that E5 code too. I disconnect the cord and plug it back in, but it only works for a few mins, then the E5 code comes back. I took it outside and blew the dust out with my air compressor, but still getting the E5 code. Thank you for your help.
@playrico118 ай бұрын
Yes the thermostat still works when you unplug the back wires. That is why i leave the wires unplugged permanently and I don't get the E5 code at all. Mine still works without that E5 code as I'm replying to you. If I plug the wires back in , the E5 code will come back on. So leave them off.

Hello, When I plug it only red lights come on (usually it's green, orange and red) and it beeps. The led light board comes on but too dim. I don't see the motor rotate. What could the problem be, please? Thank you.

Was really hoping this was the answer. I followed it to the letter and no such luck. E5 still trolls me. IDK what else to do.

Have you tried dusting around the whole inside and assertions? Clean the sensor in the front, That may help as well...I know its extremely annoying. I hope you get it to work.

That’s a heat sensor to keep the unit from over heating which can possibly cause the unit to catch on fire . Not a good solution !
@SouthernWolff5 жыл бұрын
That's what I was thinking, but, to be fair, it's more of a proximity sensor. Mine has doors that I can close over to cover the fireplace. The fact that there's nothing in front of his, at all, makes it safe to disconnect the sensor. Having that been said, if he were to forget he did this, then cover it with something, it wouldn't know to shut itself off. My heat sensor is on the other side of the unit, on the panel with the controls, and I can't tell if his is too.
@RonS3876 ай бұрын
I don't have this fireplace, but I don't think it would be a 'proximity' detector. As a retired electronics tech, most anything that has a heating element, usually has a 'thermal cutout' to disconnect the element in case of overheating. Thermal cut-outs (such as those in coffee makers), can go bad, whereby they are always in the 'open or closed circuit' condition, removing power to the element. I would strongly suggest not just disconnecting, but replacing that unit to ensure safety.
@PeterAgostiniJdcap263 жыл бұрын
You disconnected a safety feature to turn heater off if it over hearts . Unit needs to be cleaned of dust with vacuum not touching and components.
@playrico113 жыл бұрын
Tried that already didnt work...so either you have a heater that turns off every 5 min or disconnect and have it work, or dont have the heater, you decide.ive made mine...look at comments below, it proximity sensor.
