@@michael3527 Electric Guitar is way easier because the Strings are thinner & under less tension, easier action & the instrument is a bit smaller, which is great for both beginners, & to those who've been playing Acoustic for a long time. You can actually make your Acoustic feel like an Electric by using either a set of 10s or 9s. Taylor is known for making Acoustic Guitars that feel like Electrics because they're a bit smaller.

I play several instruments, bass with a band and acoustic guitar alone. I was recently asked to play electric in a band which is not one of my skills, but I agreed to try. At the audition I was told I was playing the electric guitar like an acoustic. While I was embarrassed, I knew he was right. So I knew I had better dig up some youtubes. As of tonight, this was THE best instruction and explanation of roles. I subscribed!

Dude, this is really valuable! I wish there were more videos like this for acoustic players; I've been playing acoustic now for almost 4 years, but electric is a whole other beast. It is a completely different animal. Whenever I eventually pick up an electric I'd essentially be starting from scratch. These tips are really useful.

That is great to hear! A specifc song that really help in terms of rhythm was "Beast of Burden" the progression goes B E B C#m A B but the chord shapes are way different, in fact, they are all different little triads that you play on the D G and B strings, all different shapes, so I did a tutorial for the song here kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnaqeomqbKeCarc After you get this song try and take a song you know really well on the acoustic guitar and learn to play it with this specific shapes, learn to move them around and learn them in different keys, that will open SOO many doors. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnaqeomqbKeCarc

How are you doing with the general tone of your guitar? Have you been able to dial up something that you like? I have a Les Paul that I run through a Blues Junior II and I get a really good tone out of it, the key is volume, sorry for the neighbors and the friends and family, but you are looking for that distortion point, that is where you get the sweet stuff, what genre of music are you playing?

@@TenThumbsProductions I got a Fender Jr. Pro but put a 12" speaker in it. It screams. I love the simplicity of just a tone and volume on both the Les Paul Jr. and the Fender Jr Pro. I have yet get a good tone. Mostly due to poor playing. But the power chord and triad lesson makes a huge difference. I subscribed and look forward to learning more from you. Thanks so much.

Electric Guitars are actually the most begginer friendly because the lower action (as far as Barre Chords go), & flatter body really help. Interestingly you can make your Acoustic Guitar feel like an Electric by using Lighter gauge Strings like 10s or 9s, & that's why they make Acoustic-Electric Guitars. Acoustic-Electrics have a skinnier neck, lower action, & lighter strings (and some have a smaller body) so they give you the best of both worlds. There's also the Classical Guitar which is basically an Acoustic Guitar with Nylon Strings, that in a way feels like an Electric because Nylon Strings are under lower tension.
@TenThumbsProductions

All good and interesting points. I have a classical guitar that I use to play classical music, but I use it a lot more for latin style music, bolero, bambuco, salsa, tango, bossa nova and a little bit of Flamenco from the old world. The fretboard on the classic is shorter and and wider, it feels the most different of the three instruments.

The cowboy Chords sometimes sound good on Electric if you use the bridge pickup.
@TenThumbsProductions
@TenThumbsProductions 4 жыл бұрын
The bridge pick up emphasis the treble, the highest and brightest noises, that is why the bridge sounds best when you are soloing. The neck pick up gets a bigger, thicker, meatier sound, that is why in general it is used for rhythm. I have found that with the bridge pick up and picking way down by the bridge with some cowboy chords you get this cool Ennio Morricone sound that is really cool, that is the only time I ever really use the bridge pick up for rhythm.

@@TenThumbsProductions Correct, Barre Chords on a Guitar with 6 (or more) strings is the easiest on Electric cause with such a low action you can instantly find the notes by tapping the strings on the fretboard. That is why Electric Guitar are the easiest, especailly 12 String Guitars cause if your kids wanna jam on a 12 String, I'd have them use an Electric cause the lower action is much easier on the left hand. Double Neck 12/6 Electric Guitars will be easy for the left hand to play on both necks cause it can teach your kids to switch from 6 to 12 strings in a breeze.
