Over the years I've always been surprised to see that this video uploaded to vice.com in 2010 had not been uploaded to youtube, so I decided to do it myself.
Description from the page:
"There's no doubt Daniel Lopatin, the quiet powerhouse behind the psychedelic cosmic synth project Oneohtrix Point Never, has a strong connection with his keyboards. Like his Roland Juno-60, nicknamed "Judy." She may not be the best in the world, but he talks about her like an old friend, and fortunately for all of us, treats her that way too.
In this episode of Electric Independence, Motherboard heads over to his home studio in Bushwick to talk with one of the leaders of the pack in the next generation of synthesizer masters, along with bands like Emeralds, Stella Om Source and Fever Ray. We also do a little pop music deconstruction - and get a peek at his awesome, charming gear."

Did he really? Wow, I did not know that. I'm excited to see how Daniel gets more involved in the mainstream while trying to maintain his creativity and essence. It's been fun watching remixes from Magic release with pop singers vocals over them. I hope he has more influence over pop as a whole as he moves forward.

Just saw this guy play a show in Sydney last week, and I can say hands down that this was one of the most fully immersive experiences I have ever had. From the music, to the lighting and visuals… everything was on point. It felt like more of a hyper sensory experience than just listening to some music, closer to being inside a movie or painting than anything else.

@@saifbakri8625 he doesnt even associate himself with that genre though. the only album that could be put in that box is literally this one. the rest are beyond just some sample flips. this and the early beer on the rug releases are cool and thats about it for me with "vaporwave". the name itself is just so cringy. just like the term chillwave which is what the name derives from that started as a joke on a now non existent satire website.

I relate to this music on a spiritual level. Idk if it the nostalgic factor of being in a hypnopompic state while falling asleep to the television in the late 80's/early 90's, the aesthetic and structure of sound that I grew up with hearing tangerine dream, even pink floyd as a young child.. I truly don't know. But I relate to it.

This is another level of inspirational. No. 1 on my bookmarks bar for any time I hit a wall. For anyone wondering how It may feel for OPN when messing with music... During the music parts of this video, switch up the video speed (0.5, 0.75, 1.25, 1.5). Or hit 'custom' above that. Use your arrows to scroll between loads of varied speeds. 'K' and 'Spacebar' are both play and pause, 'M' is mute, alternate them/hit them together or even better, press and hold, to make glitchy stutters. (double tap, hold on second tap to avoid long pause) See, everyone is a musician, and everything is an instrument. (P.S. don't ride in an elevator with me XD.)
