As a MINI R56 owner who has been a very happy customer, I have been consuming the content on the MotoringFile website about the new Countryman as my 17 year old Cooper S needs a stablemate. I was not 100% sure if I were going petrol or EV but something important happen last week: Rivian R2. While Rivian is a fairly new company, we do have some metrics from their R1 series of vehicles (performance, reliability, comfort, etc.). The R2 may make purchasing a 2025 MINI Countryman EV a tough choice. For starters , the R2 batteries will allow it to qualify for U.S. tax incentives not available to the Countryman produced in Germany. The R2 is 10" longer and approximately 2" higher and wider. Due to being a dedicated EV platform the wheelbase is 34" longer than the Countryman and looks much roomier inside. If Rivian holds to its $45K USD starting price (300+ AER RWD), the R2 may be the challenger BMW/MINI was not expecting.

What color is this Mini? Is that the smokey green? It looks more blue than I thought it would

It looks intreging. I think it has a market, but I'm not really the target buyer. I just don't like the fake suv style/size car. Still doesn't compare as a daily driver to the F54 for me. I want to see a smaller AWD 4-door (5-door?) from MINI's new electric offerings.

Seems like you're waiting for the production version of the MINI Aceman Concept they showed off awhile back. That one has my eye as well!

I am hopeful, but as of yet they have only mentioned a FWD electric powertrain@@vpr5555
