God bless you young whippersnappers who have the physical strength and endurance to ride ANY trials bike. Electric dirt bikes make a world of sense, especially the silence factor. Great review.

Great to see more of the options available on the market - looking forward to seeing your upcoming comparison and upgrade videos. I still think the SurRon would be my starting point as a n00b, especially given that you can upgrade as your budget permits. Really appreciate your videos though for a better idea of which upgrades to do in which order.

I was lucky enough to have the Escape version in my garage all summer. I rode the shit out of it and its the very reason I purchased an electric bike. I ended up with the SurRon. Mainly because I wanted a bike sooner than later. While the Escape EM is an incredible machine, im certainly not regretting my decision on the SurRon. EM is solid AF though and a LOT more torque. Great video dude. These Electric bikes are so frign fun!!

Can't beat the Sur Ron for the price. Seems to keep going up though. Plenty fun to ride stock.

Would love to see more Em Epure rides, in our own back yard, with your friends riding sur rons, dirt bikes and trials bike just like when you ride your sur son. Like doing some of the previous sur ron rides, climb the same steep stuff, and then compare how the Em is doing vs the sur ron. Also maybe some clutch launches up big steep rocks or inclines where a clutch will do wonders.

Legit comparison in my opinion, I’ve been wondering this already so thank you! Mod a SurRon or buy one of these ready to go all day long. SurRon needs literally everything except motor and frame and parts aren’t getting easier to find and time is $$$ ✌🏼The SurRon is fun overall I’d rather just have the EM and give my kids the Ron thanks again!

I found that 90/100 16" rear wheel makes Surron feel a lot softer when jumping obstacles. One problem with EM trials version - very fragile. We rode one of those and smashed all plastic just after couple crashes, spilling all the electric guts. Not made for hard riding.

Thanks! You've confirmed my decision to electrify my Gas Gas trials bike project , rather than to electrify a full suspension fat tire mountain bike. Better tires, brakes, suspension, gears, clutch and more room for batteries, albeit somewhat heavier. About 90% done.

Ive watched most, if not all of your Sur Ron videos over the last couple of days. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in my assessment, it seems like you're wanting the Sur Ron, a bike that seems like it's more akin to an all mountain bike, to perform more like a full size e motorbike. This isn't by any means a criticism, but would it be fair to say that when you say something like the KTM or the Electric Motion is 'better' you mean it's better for what you want out of it, or for what you're used to with a more moto centric background? Or do you think there's better alternatives for the more lite duty, mountain bike style niche? My background is all mountain biking, with effectively 0 moto experience. Cross country and downhill in the same ride. But due to injuries I can't really pursue that anymore. The Sur Ron, with some upgrades, seems to me like it might be the best option around for scratching that itch in a relatively cost effective way. Am I wrong? Sorry for the long message, and again, this isn't a dig. Just looking for a little clarity and hoping for a bit more of a discussion. Also, love you're work and make some more videos, you kinda disappeared on us.

The idea of electric trials is really cool, but if I had the money to throw at a new bike I don’t think I could drop that much when you can get any of the Beta 2t bikes for $2,000 less.

Hi. I'm very close to buying one however I haven't had the chance to test ride. My only concern is how snatchy it is off the bottom? I'm too old to whisky throttle (just sold a Beta 250t). Id love to spend less and get a gas bike but I need to ride stealthy (few legal trails here in Scotland). Also in this day and age electric is the only way to go within the off-road sphere.

There are 3 power modes but it is still has crazy torque. If you are experienced you should be ok in green mode

Nice. I've been scanning for trials frames for months ever since I saw the price on the EV trials is still got a premium markup... :-) There are a few other companies doing this, but if you want a Yamaha or KTM EV you're gonna pay not the 13k or 15k list but probably closer to 25k once you get one. Contact the mfrs so you can start demoing and testing stuff for them - make sure they *understand* that you literally have a test site that most product validation folks would threaten their manager to get access to. You can probably get paid, if not for doing the demos then also letting people shoot their products there.

For myself, I'm working on CVT type transmissions so we can get all power and torque under our control - the stresses of EV are so different than that of ICE on a chassis, it's almost like we've got to *soften* up the thing instead of trying to make it harder; there's a lot more flex and impact curves that need to be dealt with when you've got the full might of the powerplant at the flick of a wrist, the sponginess of acceleration that was built into an ICE powerplant buffered the stress on the mechanical parts is completely gone and my guess this is where most of the improvements in the next 2-3 years will be. Knowing how humans work, I would not be surprised if someone tried to solve the problem in the next 6 months - I probably won't even have my shop/lab shell up by then. But yeah, now that the general public is starting to adopt EV more broadly, we're going to need to get a handle on that power for safety and economy's sake, and while the systems may not be super complex in the end that discovery and refinement process has to happen first to get to the simpler, better design. I was hoping to get the first EV Restomod shop on the west coast or maybe even upper west coast going here but I don't think I'll be in time. That's okay, there's always being the best. :-)

unlike electric cars, dirt bike don't have enough space for bigger battery, i hope a future battery could provide 5x times energy with the same size

That’s one thing that I don’t understand. Why don’t performance electric vehicles have a clutch and flywheel. You have kinetic energy to help launch and also modulate power better.

having a clutch and flywheel really won't enhance power modulation, at least i don't really see how it does. having a clutch on an electric bike is likely only there just to make it feel more like an engine powered bike. electric motors have full torque at 0 rpm whereas engines do not, thus requiring a clutch to let the engine spool up to speed, then dump that energy into a clutch to get the bike moving. electric motors can also spin A LOT faster than engines can which is also why they are usually geared lower and still achieve the same top speeds or similar

Ive done a lot of research on the EM bikes and was going to start saving up to buy one-until I looked at the prices of replacement parts.........the battery is 4000$ lol. Motor is like 2000$. suspension links over 500$. This bike makes KTM prices look like childs play :(

The motor and battery should theoretically last a LONG time with minor maintenance (new batter contactor, new motor bearings) but something more catastrophic would seemingly spell disaster for the bike as a whole. I'm also interested in the KTM freeride! Decisions decisions..

If you compare it to a Surron, then it should be compared to the Surron Storm Bee, Surron‘s real full Enduro Bike.

If surron have 80volt or 90volt it's would go way fast to reach 80pmh or 100pmh anyways my gold is keeping up with my diy sleath bomber ebike reach 100pmh or 80pmh
