If you can't rebuild the whole backend of the boat, there's still things you can do. You can put a spoiler like they have on the back of vans, just think like a van but flipped upside down. There's a few professionals doing it here on KZbin, can get inspiration looking at them. Anyhow, good luck

Getting ready to convert a 1980 Tollycraft 34 ft tricabin to electric. Neither engine works so looks like a good time. Also redoing interior. Just started investigating and stumbled on you. I love those old cabin cruisers and the idea of electric boats is neat, provided it fits your needs, but I just can't see how converting a planing hull to a displacement hull makes much sense. At best you'll end up with a gimped boat due to the hull shape. Why not just start with a displacement hull (and end with a much more efficient electric boat)?

Exploring a solution to a 13’ powered by a Honda BF-25 . The hull rating is for max 40 hp . What’s the total cost in going electric to match or exceed the BF-25 speed . Presently it’s top speed is 20-25 mph with just me in it ! 40 hp sounds much better !

Good question. I've looked at many. Onan, Northern Lights, Kubota are all my first choices. Chatting with a friend about a used Onan at the moment but open to whatever will do the job! (Except portables lol)

interested in doing a hybrid conversion on my 2000 carver 396 . My intension is to make a mounting plate to adapt to the back of the transmission and adding a pillow block bearing to alleviate any stress on the main haft. I am looking for a a DC 72 volt motor also capable of charging when under gas power. I am looking for information on suppliers for motors , gears , belts , controllers ect. I currently spend a ton of time on the erie canal and have access to power at almost every town . I am currently only getting 2.25 mpg at 5.8 mph on a single engine. with fuel flow meters installed this is the best i can get. I would love to spend a few thousand and increase this to 3.5-4.5 with the use of electric part time. Any help would be greatly appreciated . it is difficult to fine supplies for this project. I currently have purchased a GEM electric car ,my intension is to canabolise parts from this , charger ,controller , potentiometer ect. Dc motor is not easy to use from this because it bolts to a gearbox on this application and has no front plate

Hmm that is a pretty big boat and not really the best hull type to convert for electric. I don't think a 72V DC system is going to cut it. You might need to look at a higher voltage AC system...something along the lines what these guys sell www.bellmarine.tech/en/
