When I was programming my gear with this sequencer, I accidentally interrupted the movement of the gear with my finger and the unit completely stopped working. Have you ever seen this and if so is there a way to reset the unit? My unit is completely nonfunctional now because my finger just interrupted the movement of the gear. It doesn’t make sense to me that this sequencer would be that fragile. Thoughts?

Motion RC still sells a gear door sequencer for the V8 1400 and 1700 mm P-51's for $13.00. But like the Hobby King sequencer there is about a 6 second delay on the opening/closing of the gear doors. Another option if your electric retracts close faster is to find a gear sequencer from a V7.5 or earlier FMS Mustang which close in about 3 seconds. Was at the Thunder Over Michigan airshow last month and noticed the gear doors of the P-51 actually do take about 5-6 seconds to activate after the gear open/close, so if you're going for a scale look the newer sequencer is the way to go.

Looks like the FMS gear door sequencer is programmed either to be the P-47 or the P-51 style but not both. The Hobby King one can be changed from one style to the other. Good find

Will a sequencer be able to retract one wheel first and then the other, and not use doors? I'm building a P-40 and this is how the wheels go up and come down (the P-40 has tiny doors but I'm not interested in fitting them to my model).

Fred, I got a question for you. I have a 1400mm corsair. I just bought a sequencer from Motionrc, for the retracts. I have tried to make them work, before putting them back in the bird. I have hooked up the Y wires...and am using a servo tester to test it out. But, it is all out of sequence! The door sequence is, one opens, while the other closes. Door opens, retract comes out, door closes, retract closes on top of door. If I hook up just the door servo's to the servo tester, they work fine. Same with the retracts. Do I need to hook system up to TX and RX to make it work?? In the set up you have in this video. The battery is going directly to the RX. Do you have the battery plugged into the battery port on the RX?? Thought this was going to be a simple plug and play deal! Any help would be great! Thanks!!

Yes I plugged to the battery into the receiver to power everything, throttle servo and the retracts. Sometimes you have to cycle the gear two or three times until they are in sync, but the fact that they are opposite could mean that the direction of the servo on the closed door side needs to be flipped. Considering getting a servo reverser for the closed door side. There should be a setting to tell the servo to stay open or closed after the gear retracts. try unhooking the pushrod to the doors and watch the direction of the servo arm and record if the arm moves clockwise or counter clockwise for both sides when the gear is cycled. If they both turn the same direction you can either flip one servo or get a servo reverser. Also try hooking up the retracts on the bench with two servos and watch the direction the door servos move, they should move the same direction.

Are those mini servos or standard servos. Hard to tell..

now in 2018 with Opentx radios you could make a sequence with the radio with precise timing very easy

The electronic device only two outputs so that means the mains and the nose gear would go a 3-way Harness instead of a 2-way harrness. then the doors would be same story send all door servos to the harness and that plugs into the device. Notice I have the door servos and the retracts plugged into a Y harness. You would just have a harness with three outputs.

I use the Tactic radios and receiver but it shouldn't matter what brand of receiver/transmitter you have. you may need to set the servo throw to 100% for it work right

Try using servo y connector
@clscale6 жыл бұрын
You have to use a Y-harness to have both servos operate together, there is only one output for the sequencer, then connect to the Y-harness that talks to two servos

finding the rotating retracts for the P-40 can be tough, check out the robart 815RS and 851RSE. THe E-flite EFLG52001L said it rotates the wheel but gave no details on what it looks like. I have never seen one of these units before. Search under "Rotating" when you get to the Robart, E-flite or HobbyKing web site.

When I looked at Sierra retracts several years ago all they had was giant scale retracts. Nice to see that they also have rotating gear for the F4U and P-40 in the .60 to .90 size model now. But they are the air system if you want to use the air system. I like the electric retracts better, less hardware to be installed in the model.

Always Turn your radio on first before the receiver and always turn your receiver off first before the radio. This prevents runaways and electronics going haywire and potential damage to them because they don't have the proper signal from the radio going to them. You say that you always have to reset it sometimes etc. Well I watched you twice turn the receiver on before the radio which could be part of your problem the servos and the sequencer never got the proper command on startup because it can't tell what position the switch on the radio is in because you turned the receiver on first so you essentially confused it and if you didn't catch the problem before hand it could lead to a very nasty result in the air! This is one of the most common and biggest mistakes I see modelers make in RC and they wonder why they have such problems with equipment failure. I'm not trying to single you out just trying to help prevent potential problems further down the road. You did do it correctly by switching off the Receiver first before the radio I will give you that but you proceeded to turn it back on first before the radio which is a big NO NO!. I can't stress enough how important it is to Never ever turn the receiver on first you always turn the radio on first when turning the equipment on and do the opposite on shutdown. Remember this one little piece of advice that your radio is your only link and control between you and a catastrophic failure it will save you some headaches later on. Otherwise great demonstration!! :)
