Hey, I'm curious to know if you had updated links for that 24v transaxle? Also are you or do you plan on using the same battery for the blade? If so, what cells are you planning on using? Or does the blades need higher volts to spin faster? I was thinking (since there's a lot of room lol) of going with 60280s :D haha Anyway, good vid!

Great video I love to do this. I have an old 16hp Murray 48" cut in my garage I've had for years but my yard isn't big enough for it that's why I parked it. I would like to convert it to electric where I would have a way around to the local stores. I live in a small city of about 700 people so I'm within a couple hundred yards from everything. The local cops would say something if I were to be riding the sidewalks with a gasoline engine. I'm on disability because of a back injury so I can't drive enough to justify owning a car and insuring it since it would sit more than anything. I don't need the mower deck since it wouldn't be used for mowing.

Fantastic video, this has given me the confidence to continue with a very similar build, having seen a lot of other conversions where the gas motor has been replaced by an electric one using the existing mower transmission, having the two combined make consummate sense. Would using semi traction batteries make much difference to the usable time between charging? Have you made one of the switches to halve the voltage ( from 24 to 12 ) to make it easier to do slow speed manoeuvring ? Great project, more video of it in use would be good. Many thanks.

This is really cool. I found your video while looking up how to do this exact same thing myself, for the exact same mower. How much weight would you estimate it could pull on that trailer, and how much weight do you think it could pull uphill? I'm having trouble understanding how much power/horsepower these transaxles have.

Hi, inspiring video, attempting to convert an old ride on mower(castle garden D102). Would be very interesting to see the rear axle assembly if possible. As a matter of interest what is the width of your frame and could you advise the size of the transaxle you put unto the ride on mower, btw loved the snow plough video. Cheers

So, I have been wanting to do this myself. I have one of these Husqvarna’s that I bought used several years ago with the intent to converting to electric when it kicks the bucket. I have been doing more maintenance on it and I figure I am starting to get close. I was originally thinking of just a larger motor as a direct swap for the Kohler, but then I was thinking how bad that hydrostatic trans is, so I want to go the route that you did. How are you handling the mower deck? Have you found motors to drive the blades? Will you operate them as fully independent systems with a separate battery bank from the drive system?

This is great information. I'm currently working on converting my old Craftsman over to electric. I'm having trouble finding the parts. Also, how do you know that the transaxle you purchase will fit the old wheels? Where do I find a more recent controller as the one you recommend is no longer available? Thanks!

I've got a Craftsman Lt1000 I'm wanting to convert. I was looking at a 48v setup, using two of my eBike batteries in parallel to run a 2kw single motor. I'm surprised he's able to drive this with only 800w! I'd of course have to convert the main drive pulley to a chain sprocket, but thinking the blade belts would still work alright?

It’s a 24v 800w. You can find them on AliExpress. It’s a bit bigger then the ones they use on wheelchairs.

So many questions!! I've been tinkering with this idea for years, but hated the other conversions using the motor under the hood to power the hydro. This is more like what I want to do with the motor and trans mounted in the rear. I have an idea to turn a mower into a single rider golf cart and I'm curious if a person should step up to a 36v or 48v for that purpose, but I also don't know how many watts I should be considering when doing so. Any ideas?

in my opinion electric wheel chair complete axle should hold just fine, U got the choise of electric wheelchair with rear axle or choice of two separate motors for each rear wheel and swivel type front wheels and in this choice U operate the unit with single Joystick as it is in wheelchair .
