We've been fulltime in our Grand Design 5th wheel for two years. Occasionally when using the fireplace I'd get the code E3. Which, according to the fireplace operating manual is clogged or dirty vents. Great video. Made the job super easy. I pulled out the fireplace and the vents were very dirty! Thanks!

Only thing I'd add would be to add a drop or two of penentrating oil the the bearing on the fan motor. Something like "Break-Free" or Amsoil penentrating oil, or Boeing's penentrating oil, you get the gest. But Not WD40, it's more a cleaning solvent.

Oh man! We haven’t even thought about cleaning the fireplace. Another addition to the honey do list. Thanks a lot. 😂👍❤️

Honestly, I thought it would be much more of a pain than it was. Funny how long that list can get even though you’re living in a small space! I feel like I have more to do now than when we had a 1700 square foot house! Lol

Great video. If anything pull it and plug holes for rodent protection.

Thanks that's a good tip. I've not cleaned mine yet the only problem I'm having right now is the adjustment of temperature. I'm constantly trying to a temperature that I wanting. Should I say I'm constantly turning the knob and never getting a good temperature that I want.

Perhaps the temperature sensor is dusty? That is one of the symptoms I read about when researching why the fireplace should be cleaned. Thank you for watching!

I wish I could clean the inside of the front glass too its dusty, went way too long without clean.

You can put a little bit of lubricant on the shaft of the fan to help with the squeaking. Thanks for watching!

I havce a Grand Design with a Furrion fireplace as well. It kept giving me the blinking red light, so I found your video to maintenance. My fireplace was just as clean as yours, and so I left it half installed, and turned it back on. It appears that Grand Design did not offer enough airflow on the backside of the fireplace, so it would overheat after being on for about an hour for no obvious reason. I've vented the backside and now seem to be having no problems. I know it's relative to design and not maintenance, but it might help someone who's stuck.

Great video! We have the same fireplace. I took our out some time ago when the switch stopped working. We had to use the remote to turn it off and on. One day the switch started working again. I have thought about replacing it. Have you checked in to a replacement besides Furion? Thanks for sharing!

Is it safe to run it full time during the day and night?
@JouppiOutdoors
@JouppiOutdoors 10 ай бұрын
We never run ours all night, but we have run it all day until we go to bed. Plus, if the temps are below freezing the furnace needs to run to heat the underbelly and keep the tanks from freezing.

So how do I get inside the glass though to clean where the rocks are?
@JouppiOutdoors

The back is removable so you can access the area where the rocks are.

curious why you don't use it at night? Thanks for the video.
@JouppiOutdoors

We use the propane heat at night because it also heats the underbelly to keep our tanks and water lines from freezing. The fireplace would definitely keep us warm enough, but does nothing for the underbelly. We also use a small Honeywell space heater in the bunk room because the propane heat duct work isn’t the best toward the rear of the trailer. Thanks for watching!
